I always wanted to learn about iridology and first read Frank Navratil's book, For Your Eyes Only and found it fantastic. I decided to take this course that is based on his book which comes in a large spiral bound book complete with background reading, self-tests, practical and written assignments as well it includes a CD that you can view iris images while you study. It is well organized and a wonderful way to learn easily at home and at your own pace. As I don't have time to attend a natural therapy school, I hope to take all three of these courses and get my Certified iridologist certificate. I truly recommend that you take this great and well organized course.

After reading Frank Navratil's wonderful best selling iridology book, For Your Eyes Only, I decided to take his series of 3 iridology courses. I found them really easy to work with, complete with practical and written assignments as well as excellent iris images to follow while learning on the CD provided with the course. I could work at my own pace and then decide to take the exam at the end of each course. I really enjoyed it and now I am planning to practice iridology. Highly recommended.

Freedom From Fat Chinese Home Cooking

Great Tasting Chinese Food Without all the Calories!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2000-02-26
I have never submitted a book review, but feel compelled in this case since I am so impressed with the Ting's recipes. I have been cooking with her book for quite a while and have tried several dishes. Both my husband and myself are in heaven with every one. The food is delicious and easy to prepare. We both are good cooks and real flavor connoisseurs, and enjoy eating without the extra fat and calories to stay fit. In fact, we rarely eat out for Chinese anymore because we now know the food is swimming in oil that we don't need to enjoy good flavors. I make about 10 of the recipes regularly - off the top of my head, some of our favorites are; Chicken with Mushroom and Green Bean, Turkey Burger with Napa Cabbage, "Fried" Rice, and Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. The book is so well used, I probably should order a clean copy! Now that I know it is available online I will be recommending it to lots of friends and ordering it for gifts. In summary, if you are into good food with lots of flavor and a healthy diet, you will not be disappointed.

This is NOT a Mission Impossible-This product Actually WORKS

PRODUCT RATING: OUTSTANDING

RATING EXPLAINED: This is an outstanding product with outstanding results.

If there is anyone out there who has problems getting their children to pick up after themselves, or each other. Or maybe you have problems with getting them to behave and follow the rules of the house. Then this is the product for you. In a matter of days it will have your child behaving and cleaning. After a week you will be asking your sweet little helper 'who are you and what have you done with my child.' At least I did. This Program is solidly based on spiritual and scriptural help. It uses the Happy Face Token method for rewarding good behavior. Children earn Happy Faces by doing anything that is good, praiseworthy, virtuous, loving, kind, honorable, honest as well as others. They also learn the consequences of bad behavior. The child can lose all or a select number of tokens for undesirable behavior, such as throwing a tantrum, back talking, rudeness, lying, are some. There is also the ultimate reward for the kids, of being able to trade their tokens in for something on the reward list. My 6-year-old daughter can be lazy at times, ok most of the time, but getting her to do her chores was like trying to pull teeth. After just one week of implementing this program she is a different person. She even picks up after her father. The results are amazing. This product actually works. It is very simple and easy to use. The author has even included charts and reproducibles in the book. All you need is a few minutes of planning time, a copier and you are on your way to a happier, healthier home. I would recommend this product to anyone with children. It is definitely a `must have'. This is my sole opinion of the product `From Combat Zone to... Love at Home' by Debbie Preece. The author herself says it best with this quote. `This is NOT A MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. This is a unique, simple, inspired "battle plan" geared for the happiness and well being of mom. This step by step survival kit is set up with built in success that can last as long as the children are in the home. The children will be so happy with this inspired program that they won't let it end. Soon, you will be known by your children as "THE BEST MOM IN THE WHOLE WORLD" and they will be contributing happily and cheerfully to the most wonderful family in the world.' An absolutely mandatory study text for first-time babysitters.

Author Dorothy A. Drago, MPH shares her decades of experience in the field of safety as a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and a private safety consultant in From Crib to Kindergarten: The Essential Child Safety Guide. Written for parents and child care providers of all backgrounds, From Crib to Kindergarten covers how to reduce the risk of injury at home and beyond for children from birth to age five, a time when they are at the most vulnerable. Chapters discuss sleep safety, why infants should never sleep in an adult bed (an infant becoming wedged between an adult bed and the wall is the leading cause of infant suffocation death), preventing falls while changing diapers (caregivers should keep one hand on an infant or toddler at all times when changing the child on an elevated surface), hazardous clothing (buttons, snaps and shoelace accessories can come off and be choking hazards; drawstrings, ribbons and hoods can be strangling hazards), basic fire prevention, tips for preventing backyard drownings, and much more. Literally a lifesaver, From Crib to Kindergarten is a must-read not for parents, teachers, and child care professionals, and should be an absolutely mandatory study text for first-time babysitters.

Functioning, problem behavior and health services use among nursing home residents with alcohol-use disorders: nationwide data from the VA minimum data ... article from: Journal of Studies on Alcohol

Excellent Document for Nursing Home Health Professionals
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-28
This HTML document is from the May 1, 2005 issue of the APA journal: "Journal of Studies on Alcohol (J. Stud. Alcohol 66: 395-400, 2005). It is one of the first studies to compare the cognitive and behavioral functioning and health use of over 3,000 nursing home residents who have alcohol use disorders with demographically-matched residents with no such disorders (at least, not diagnosed).

It is also one of the first to measure functioning of VA patients using the Minimum Data Set (MDS) instrument, a questionnaire given at intake and at regularly scheduled intervals thereafter. A secondary purpose was to examine "whether AUDs interact with alcohol consumption to predict poorer behavioral and health services outcomes among nursing home residents" (from the abstract by Dr. Penny Brennan).

Contrary to what many people might think, those nursing home patients who had alcohol use disorder diagnoses functioned somewhat in some areas than the demographically matched controls. However, they also represented a population that may use more staff resources, as they had more falls and fractures, more difficulties in social functioning, and more use of health service than the matched controls. The interaction test also panned out: Those with AUD diagnoses and alcohol consumption had a higher risk of falls and fractures and more mental health services use than patients with AUD diagnoses and no alcohol consumption.

The clear writing, thorough literature review, and cogent, restrained discussion by lead author Dr. Brennan and Mark A. Greenbaum (no relation) were exemplary. While there were not as many significant results as one might hope, the authors present very compelling policy and practice implications. Health care professionals should consider residents' current alcohol-related diagnoses as well as their drinking histories when making nursing home policies about alcohol consumption (for example, whether to institure more "liberal" alcohol policies within the nursing home, and whether to screen residents for AUDs so that staff can monitor and be proactive to those at risk for higher health care use.)
