Mountain Rescue Doctor
I just finished reading the book "Mountain Rescue Doctor" by Christopher Van Tilburg and I have to say it was a great read. I literally could not put it down. He gives multiple perspectives of mountain rescue and addresses many of the debatable topics when it comes to who should bear the financial costs of rescue, etc.
This book is great for both the outdoor enthusiast or anyone who just enjoys getting up to the mountain every now and then for some leisurely riding. There are great lessons to be learned from Van Tilburg's accounts and his writing makes you respect both the mountain and those that serve to aid in the rescue of the lost, injured and deceased

Anyone that has set foot in the outdoors needs to read this book. I find it refreshing today that there are people, like Doc Tilburg and the Crag Rats, that are willing to risk their lives for the bennifit of others without being highly compensated. The book is very enlightening by exposing us to real life situations and it is a book that you will read cover to cover in one sitting. For entertainment and the human tales the book is worth twice the price

psychologically qualified yet girlfriend-friendly adviceReview Date: 2007-10-01
It's a no-nonsense guide to getting what you want, but it's also a little book of inspiration to getting what you need. Roz shares her own stories to relay some messages and also those of people she knows. It's the latest thoughts on self help psychology, marriage, relationship and sex therapy, and life coaching, but it is done in such a light hearted and easy going tone that you don't realize you're getting a bigger message until it has already sunk in. The book is made light and fun by the analogy of knickers in every form and relating them to what you want in life. For instance, figuratively (or literally) putting on those practical, comfortable, business like panties to get a goal attained, or sliding into that risqué g-string when the lights go down in the city for some fun. Humor aside, the book offers advice on everything from how to say no and mean it to how to say yes and feel free enough to enjoy it. It explores ways in which you can reconnect with your inner child and nourish her and also take control and know when to get that kid out from behind the driver's wheel. This book is about organizing your life, one drawer at a time, learning to laugh at yourself, being a friend, and charging head on into passion for life.
Roz Van Meter is a psychotherapist, but she writes like that best friend who spells it all out for you in a fun and endearing way. Buy a copy of "Put Your Big Girl Panties On and Deal With It..." for yourself, one for your husband (who just might learn a thing about the female persuasion), and one for every close girlfriend you have. You'll be looking at yourself and your underwear drawer in a whole new light.

A beautiful book - Reiki TummoReview Date: 2009-03-17
Simple to read, Easy to enjoy. Reiki Tummo is wonderfulReview Date: 2008-11-13
The book itself has a lot of information in it that explains and describes the theory and techniques in layman's terms. Some things must be learned from class as it's easier to see someone do it than to figure it out yourself and the safe attunement can be had in class. The book gives detailed information as to what the differences are in the different types of Reiki and a bit more information on Kundalini and Kundalini Syndrome. It's definitely a book for practitioners to have as reference or for people who are interested in learning more about Reiki Tummo prior to taking the course(s).
Enjoy.

A Must Read for Scoliosis PatientsReview Date: 2008-12-16
I highly recommend "Scoliosis Surgery."
Scoliosis Surgery-The Definitive Patient's reference-.a must readReview Date: 2008-11-13
Scoliosis surgery. It has all the Medical Jargon explained in clear terms easily understood by an average person. It is informative and facinating from page 1 to the end. I am scheduled for surgery and could not put it down. It covers all the things you couldn't think of to ask the surgeon. I can't wait for my husband to read it so that we can discuss it. I think this book would benefit anyone with scoliosis even if they are not thinking of immediate surgery. It would help them to realize there are options should their scoliosis progress. Chapter three completely covers alternatives to surgery. I highly recommend this book.
A little about a lotReview Date: 2008-11-11
The book fits a specific need - how is someone supposed to get their mind around all of what scoliosis surgery will entail - what to ask, what to do in advance, what to expect. I can't imagine anything more terrifying than handing your daughter over to a back surgeon. This book gives you a place to start - comprehensive but so easy to read, and straight to the point.

Quite honestly, it's almost impossible to contain in a short review all of the positive aspects of this book. For anyone who has ever contemplated alternative therapies, this is an excellent place to start learning what it's all about. I think this is a great resource for anyone who'd like to learn alternative techniques to handling the daily stressors of life. This book gets a 5 star rating from me!

Helpful Guide for Optimal AgingReview Date: 2009-06-18
This is a welcome invitation not only to participate actively but also to connect to inner wisdom. By freeing our minds of negative scripts, we are increasing the positive flow of energy. Hover-Kramer encourages the reader to nurture our yearning for a meaningful life. Her own positive attitude and enthusiasm almost jump off the page.
In order to live our dreams, she often reminds us that self-discovery is at the heart of change. Letting go of more dysfunctional belief patterns will lead to greater self acceptance. Hover-Kramer then gives specific examples of what to do - access a beautiful memory, express gratitude, give affirmation, acknowledge positive intention, focus breathing. Staying curious increases hope for facing life's challenges. According to Hover-Kramer, miracles await us wherever we're willing to see them.

If it only had a lock and key....Review Date: 2009-04-23
Now, when I write in my Secret Diary I am very careful in what I write. I believe once I write my thoughts they becomes absolute almost immidiatly. I have to be sure I am calm and happy as I write. I never write about being sad or ungreatful. I always say thank you and count my blessings in my daily diary.
I am practicing on how to dream past my comfort level and create a more rewarding life for my family and I. I also use it to calculate my weight loss journey.
The Diary has daily insightful thoughts and advice on every page. The pages are thick and artfull. All that is missing is a lock and key....

Excellent!!Review Date: 2007-12-29
I stumbled upon this book about 4 months ago in a drug store--way before reading any reviews. The writer is credible, the writing style is not over the top on medical terminology. Once you start reading it, it is hard to put down.
Ms. Richard states the facts concerning each plan.
Anyone who is even considering a low carb lifestyle (this is not a "diet") should really read this book BEFORE they start any plan. Although I started lowcarbing before knowing about this book, I believe it would help even a current lowcarber in the event that they may need to make adjustments with whatever method they are using.
The book is very inexpensive and worth much more than it's price. It is a very good, down-to-earth, factual, non-overwhelming read.
I highly recommend this book as your first choice, OR your first read if you own other books.

However. Over and over again it phrased things in the perfect way. I can only read it a few pages at a time. I'm only halfway through, and I'm still inching along. When I'm ready to see, ready to learn, ready to be moved, I read this book.
It's wonderful accompanyment to "Courage to Heal" it takes a much more straightforward approach, and is more heartbreaking to read.
What I like about it is that there is a LOT of work that a single person can do in there. It's not dependent on being in a romantic relationship.

As a Search & Rescue volunteer myself, I'm hooked on true stories about wilderness rescue and survival, written by both rescuers and those they help, or by those who made it out of difficult situations on their own. Having read many, this one is still near the top of my list of favorites. My only disappointment when I finished the book was that, in certain cases, I was left wondering what happened to some of the victims Dr. Tillman had worked so hard to save. Did they survive? Then I happened across a blog post by the author, in which he states, "Yes, several chapters don't really say what happens to the patient. That's part of the deal with mountain rescue missions: we hand off the patients to a helicopter or ground ambulance crew and sometimes we never find out the end result." As any member of a SAR unit knows, that statement is very true. The last we sometimes see or hear of a patient is when they're whisked into the sky in a litter, spinning at the end of a 200-foot rope.
