THE vegetarian book to have!!!Review Date: 2003-11-23
Do not stop at Lacto-Ovo VegetarianismReview Date: 2002-07-23
This book is a clear, concise, thorough, practical, no-nonsense book about nutrition. The underlying idea and the scientific ground of vegetarianism is built and reinforced as one proceeds through the book. The laudable approach is indeed to give solid reasons for a vegetarian preference, instead of freely attacking diet based on food of animal origin.
The text is ideal for people who have started to change or are thinking to change their relationship with food, who have started to demolish old beliefs about food of animal origin and need a solid ground to be able to contrast negative pressure coming from inside themselves, from family members, from friends and from society.
With this book you will learn in an easy, pleasant, and often funny way the chemistry in our body of vitamins, minerals, metals, proteins, essential ammino acids, lipids (fats), fibers. This is fundamental to be able to throw away old false beliefs and substitute them with the pretty obvious (once you are enlightened) conclusion that eating lower in the food chain is a habit perfectly tuned to the chemistry of our body, to the ultimate sole possible realisation that nature made (healthy) humans vegetarian.
Read this book and to you it will be common sense to refuse old tests and studies made on rats "proving" that animal proteins are superior (do we really need the same protein that they need to grow their thick hair?) and to just look at a picture (you will not find them in the book, though!) of a Gorilla, our Body Builder cousin, which by the way is a vegan, or of an elephant, who rarely suffer from osteoporosis, lives a long life, has a very good memory and, again, is a vegan.
A final word. This book is ultimately a guide to be healthy and energetic. But why giving up meat and keeping a little of the old beliefs and continuing with milk and eggs? Why not going for the 100% energy availability that nature is ready to give us, if we stick to the lower end of the food-chain? If you are a person aiming at an excellent health, you are missing a lot: you are giving away an outstanding health and an oustanding energy availability. A Pure Vegetarian nutrition is the complete disgregation of obsolete, wrong beliefs that, consciously or unconsciously, some people have instilled in our mind. Be in charge of your ideas about the world in and around you, starting from where it is more important: breathing, drinking, eating, moving, thinking, communicating.

Financial PeaceReview Date: 2008-04-10
Approachable and throrough financial planningReview Date: 2007-10-31
This book is a very approachable method in reviewing and planning your finances. It is intended to be used by implementing a chapter a week, but if you have already accomplished the beginning items, you can move a bit faster...as long as you pay attention to the lessons you are skipping and are sure you understand them.
The characters he uses for illustration purposes are one dimensional, but readers can easily see themselves or those close to them in the characters.
The workbook is NOT BORING, NOT DRY, and easy to understand. It can be used in conjunction with the Financial Peace (or Financial Peace Revised) book, but works well on its own. After reading it, if you are understanding that materialism is good, but not to be worshipped, you can accumulate a good bit of wealth in a reasonable period of time.
The book is very motivating. Anyone can understand it, anyone can use it. You don't have to be broke, up to your eyeballs in debt or bankrupt to appreciate it. In fact, you'll have a leg up on those who are.
If you are looking for a way to plan you future, are facing a promotion and want to be wise with your money, or are just interested in a basic, non-threatening way to learn about home economics and investing, this is the book to read.
Comes with great forms to help you evaluate equity, learn about your household budget (he calls it a 'cashflow' plan), percentages of income should be dedicated to what expenses, etc.,etc.

Helping me control my spendingReview Date: 2007-05-07
Having said all that, I highly recommend the books to anyone that doesn't have a written budget. I thought I had one, albeit in my head, but it turned out that I had no idea where our money was going. I was in shock when I really started tracking our spending and found that we were overspending in areas we didn't need to. Now we use cash and our debit card, instead of our credit card and I feel I'm in much more control of our money. One of these days we'll be out of debt...

Practical and Cross Industry ApplicationReview Date: 2008-04-20
It is my observation that too many consultants go into companies, identify the customer service issues, hold one or more rah rah events, and then move on to their next project. More correctly, I believe a consultant's responsibility is to work with organization clients to, as Mr. Studer so clearly addresses, hardwire the processes which then will indeed achieve the relationship with employees, channel partners and customers that will so clearly set them apart from their competitors, thereby creating customers who become advocates.

A Do-It-Yourself Manual to LeadershipReview Date: 2007-09-19
While Quint Studer focuses on what he know best, big healthcare, this book can and is being applied to every industry. (I have applied its systems to hospitality, customer service, and production.) The fact that Quint focused on what he does best is a great example of leadership, and an example of how Quint practices what he preaches.
I have the priviliege of living the same city as Quint Studer and interacting with his organization on a regular basis. I can attest that they practice everything they preach and have excelled wilding while doing it.

This book has nothing to do with "Bill Rich"Review Date: 2001-09-06
One of the reviews here mentions the name "Bill Rich." Many of the statements about him are true, but he has nothing solid to do with MSM, other than he stumbled upon it and tries to sell it.
This book and Bill Rich should not be mentioned together (forgive me). Mr. Rich does not speak for MSM, anymore than a bad teleevangelist speaks for God.
Get the hardback edition of this book, it will change your life for the better!
MSM vs.AllergiesReview Date: 2003-06-12
In the 1990's those symtoms started to come back.On 5-11-2003 i went to Rainbow Grocery store. They sell alot of Herb type items there.I told the lady there i needed something really good for my allergies. She took me over to MSM quickly!
She also showed me the little handbook by Dr.Ley "MSM On our way back to Health With Sulfur".I started with 3 grams on 5-11-03 i now average 20 grams of MSM per day.It really helps w/allergies.
I'm 50 years old. When tested allergic to ALL Molds and Pollens.
Mold is hardest to Beat.MSM is helping against it too.
I've ordered 5 of The Miracle of MSM By Dr Jacob and Dr Lawrence.
Thank You amazon.com for the good prices on those Books!!!!!

Best book on MSM by far ...Review Date: 2001-09-06
I, also, prefer the hardback version of this book. It is out of print but I found that it is still available at the distributor (msmsupplement.com as mentioned by someone in another review).
I hope that there is a new, updated version of this book on the horizon, because I know that MSM is helping so many people with a variety of problems (e.g. Arthritis, Allergies, Energy, Joint and Muscle & Nerve Pain, Skin Conditions ...). I even give it to my dogs and cats now!
By the way, Dr. Lawrence (on of the authors) is the doctor of the famous actor James Coburn. Mr. Coburn now attributes his recovery from crippling arthritis pain to benefits derived from MSM.
Get the hardback! Best book on MSM & Pain Relief there is!Review Date: 2001-09-06
Get the hardback edition - it costs less than the not-so-well-bound paperback. You will use this book as a reference for natural dosage, et cetera, so definately get the hardback.

A must for any time-zone travellerReview Date: 2004-06-24
The first few pages explain how your body works, how caffein works, and how that can be used to overcome jet lag. The next 80 same pages you look up the individual time zones that apply to your trip. That's where you find the diet schedule for your personal trip. In the back you find several pages of food items and sample menues, that allow you to put your diet together according to your own tastes. Overcoming jet lag with this guide is EASY. No other supplements are neccessary!
I'm buying several books, so I can give it to our international visitors!

Excellent Regimen to Arrive In SynchReview Date: 2004-06-16
Basic theory behind the program is described well, but most of this nice, short book is a full how-to for every possible flight... time zones involved, direction of flight.
Reader simply looks up the schedule that best describes upcoming flight, and follows the instructions. But don't do this at the airport the day of the flight. Diet must be altered three days in advance of travel.
My family and I have been using this for 15 years, and we swear by it. The only time it hasn't worked for me is when I've tried to cheat the system (watched an in-flight movie when the book said I was supposed to be sleeping, that sort of thing).
Unfortunately, most airlines do all they can to keep passengers stuck in their departure time zone (ensuring days of jet lag for all), but this book shows how necessary it is to board the plane and get right into the arrival time zone. It does take a sense of discipline to follow the program while in flight. In general the flight is not particularly enjoyable if you're following the program and are therefore out of sync with all the other passengers, BUT if you are a business traveler or don't have the luxury of wasting several days, you will find that the short-lived discomfort is insignificant!
A highly useful book for the international business traveler... would make a nice gift for someone going off on a round-the-world or other long flight. (But give it well in advance of the travel)!
Jet Lag Prevention PersonifiedReview Date: 2003-01-31
I've had this little book in my hands since its first publishing and have given countless copies to others along the way. Professionals have been using it for years. From White House summits overseas to professional athletes competing abroad-- this little book has been their answer for enhancing the quality of their trips with optimum mental and physical performance.
For some years this little gem was "Hard to Find," but I never gave up trying to locate a copy. Now it's reprint can once again benefit everyone to be side effects free. It worked for me so well that I still follow the diet to maintain a healthy even weight. This little book is GREAT and one of my most very favorite. Go for it.

The Reiki SourcebookReview Date: 2007-11-23
Bronwen and Frans Stiene are at the top of this list. Their work is consistently well-informed. I also find their topics quite interesting. More importantly, I find it easy to translate what I read in their books directly to my own growth and purposes.
The Reiki Sourcebook is a great general resource that should be on every Reiki practitioner's bookshelf. Topics explored range from basic information and the history of Reiki through courses and an explanation of the complexity of lineages to specific Japanese and Western Reiki techniques.

Excellent Resource on ReikiReview Date: 2008-01-19
I found this book to be strongly resourceful and insightful on the subject of Reiki. Personally, I had never taken a Reiki class and only heard of the term in passing. I came upon this book as both curiosity and of possible interest in pursuing this teaching. Of this book, I found it to be strongly helpful for a beginner of Reiki or just someone (such as myself) who seek to know more about the Reiki system.
This book is well worth the effort and worth the read as it is literally packed with information on the subject, and I found it to be quite informative.

That's where this handy tome comes in. One of the girls from the bar I've been seeing on the sly has been trying to get me to start incorporating more vegetables in our relationship (in addition to the meat) and suggested several books (not this one) to help me get started. While those books had some value, this book really told me what I needed to know about the nutritional values of various vegetarian diets and how to make up for the nutirtion I would be losing by giving up meat.
It's very informative, well-written, easy to understand, but somewhat short on recipes. As I've mentioned, Bessie isn't a very good cook--even when she has cook-by-numbers recipes (which basically means, even if this book had recipes it wouldn't be of much value to her) and that's too bad. Nevertheless, this is a very informative book and has surprisingly convinced me that it is possible to maintain nutrition while maintaining an all-vegie diet. Unfortunately, the recipes in this book (and those I found in several others) have failed to convince me that any of these vegie diets taste any better than the leaves and grass in my backyard.
As a result, I've scrapped the vegetarian route, started cooking for myself, stopped worrying about my health, and I'm staying away from the girls at the bar.
