"Al McOrmond is a Dental Technologist in Ontario and a professor teaching orthodontics and full and partial dentures in the Dental Technology Department of George Brown College in Toronto. He is also the owner of an orthodontic speciality laboratory. McOrmond's knowledge and experience shine through in this well-written and practical technique book. At times, the reader feels as if the author were in the room presenting the material in a conversation. The chapters are amply illustrated and dotted with insightful and thought-provoking quotes. The first few chapters provide valuable definitions and terminology. The next sections discuss materials and instruments, and the book moves on to basic appliances, fabrication techniques, removable and fixed appliance design and construction, and nightguards. This is the second book I bought from Bitsy Kemper's "Out and About" series of children's books. The author continues her winning streak with this terrific book that sets out to demystify (sometimes very scary) dentist offices and gently help children understand exactly what is going on in there. Talk about scary, the tooth + cola experiment at the end of the book is enough to give any parent pause before allowing a child to drink a soda. Another A+ effort!

I tried the advice in the book and found my teeth have felt better and healthier almost right away. The only place I differ with is that I am a vegan and she advocates the use of dairy products (in a raw milk form which is better than the usual homogenized). I suspect that many people will agree with her.

It's kind of quick periodontology reference book.It's compact and very understandable.I recommend this book but as writers mentioned it is not a textbook.

Not much to say about this product other than it's written by the Goddess of Dental Hygiene: Anna Pattison. Almost everyone who buys this book does so because it's required by the school. The book is easy to follow and a great guide on how to use dental hygiene instruments. Anna's CE courses are great as well.

In the past, editors watered down their texts for dentists and served them to dental hygienists. This textbook has always considered the dental hygienist a central focus in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. I have used this text as a reference for my CE courses and studies, but also for my patients in order to understand grafts, implants and other aspects of treatment that sometimes are not fully explained my practitioners. This area has expanded so much in new technologies that I am already looking forward to the next edition.
