As someone who has studied and read a great deal on health issues, healing modalities and the integration of the human being as a whole I am very pleased to recommend this book. The book is a great tool to help anyone recognize the oneness of our nature, the power of awareness, and the potential within ourselves for well being and health.

Embodiment practices are a great tool to empower us and lead us to the recognition of our true nature.

I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in personal growth, wellbeing and a conscious life in all levels.

I really liked The Breast Cancer Prevention and Recovery Diet. It walked me through all the basics of breast cancer, how it develops, what the risks are, what the different types are, how to recognize different symptoms, what to expect at the doctor, and what the different treatment options are. Then it explained how to minimize your risk of developing breast cancer or improving your chances of recovery through nutrition. Suzannah explained which foods to avoid and which foods to include. She suggested making gradual changes that seem really do-able. She includes easy, appealing recepies and lots of menu ideas. Everything is backed up with a lot of research, but the book is easy-to-understand and speaks on a very personal level. The Breast Cancer Prevention and Recovery Diet reminded me of Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book, which I really liked also. I think this is a great book for any woman interested in better health.

This book provided myself and my collegues with terrific answers to frequently asked questions. The easy to read format is great. Information on pumps (brands, prices, etc.) is also included. As the title suggests, there is a plentiful account of conditions and diseases. It is a fabulous reference and I highly recommend it!

This valuable book offers a realistic program of nutrition and exercises that may contribute to preventing or overcoming cancer. Chapter One considers the risk factors, whilst Chapter Two looks at the body's defenses like nutrient factors, immunity, free radicals, vitamins, minerals and other substances, and their use.

Chapter Three contains an in-depth look at nutrition, obesity, additives, contaminants, pesticides, smoking, alcohol, caffeine, hormones, air, water, electromagnetism and stress. Chapter Four explores breast, gastrointestinal and other cancers plus cardiovascular disease.

Chapter Five presents a plan for risk factor modification, including the author's 10-point plan and a diet plan. The book concludes with footnotes containing bibliographical references, a piece about the author and an index. Black and white illustrations enhance the text.

Would love to read this book, as I too was diagnosed with type II three years ago, and I can feel the impact in my toes, my daily fatigue, etc.

I hope this book gets well reviewed everywhere. Thanks, Carol, for writing it. And how are you feeling now? Better?

Amazon was very quick with delivery and the book was unharmed, which was good for being a soft back spiral bound book.

This book, along with "Prediabetes: What You Need to Know to Keep Diabetes Away" by Gretchen Becker, is an excellent resource for someone newly concerned and rightfully a little alarmed about her/his blood glucose level testing above normal.

One of the first questions one might have is "What should I eat to prevent diabetes?" In this total life plan, which includes practical advice for weight-loss and exercise--the two imperatives of prevention, Woodruff and Saudek also provide two weeks of menus and 150 superb and healthy recipes that are easy to make.

I have served many dishes to guests who just thought I had made a terrific meal. They had no idea the recipes were from a diet book. Some tasty examples are Grilled Tuscan Tenderloin, Slow-Cooked Sicilian Pot Roast, Scallops with Peanut Sauce, Salmon with Roasted Plum Tomatoes, Cherry Bavarian, Cinnamon Peach Crisp, Dilled New Potatoes and Peas, Crab Louis Dip, Double Bran Muffins, Toasted Muesli and Citrus Vinaigrette. These have all become favorites in our menu repertoire!

My husband and I have both lost several pounds in a few months with these recipes/menus. Sandra Woodruff's other cookbooks are great too. And, don't forget the exercise. We are also walking 35 to 45 minutes every day. Making time to exercise daily and eat right is a better choice than sliding blindly into what could become a debilitating and life-threatening disease. Buy both books and start taking back your life.

The best self managed approach to coping with IBS symptoms that I have ever read
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-27
Written by an expert who has taken 20 years of IBS treatment research and condensed it into a book, Dr. Jeffrey Lackner has written a very different type of book for IBS sufferers. The core of the book is a 10-step plan for symptom relief; however, Dr. Lackner's approach is not ordinary. He combines proven techniques for you to develop an understanding of who you are and how your thoughts and behavior attribute to your well being. This isn't a book about psychology and IBS. Dr. Lackner skillfully takes the reader through an understanding of how the digestive system works, how you may be diagnosed with a digestive disease, and then how the physical torture of daily IBS symptoms can be coped with by changes in how you think and act. For over 25 years I have fostered a self-help/control approach for individuals and this is the first book in a long time that provides the ingredients to do just that. I highly recommend this book for every IBS sufferer.

The author offers both basic and advanced approaches to managing common skin problems."
