Doctor J. Robert Hatherill has done an oustanding job with this book! As a health and school psychologist I have already started recommending this book to helping professionals and parents. This author goes beyond writing about the links between good nutrition and health. This is the only book I have read that also demonstrates the critical role of nutrition in the promotion of learning as well as health. I highly recommend this book!

My sister has been dealing with diabetes for several years now, so I bought her this book, hoping it might help. Well, it sure did! Before, she was so frustrated, because keeping track of her info was a real struggle. But now, with this WeeklyTrack book, her glucose readings have improved because she is managing her diet much better. She said it has helped her to figure out which times of day it is better to eat certain foods, and when is the best time to take her daily walk. Her doctor has been able to help her more, because he can look at the book and see how she's doing in between visits. We recommend this book for all diabetics!
By the way, if you are a family or professional caregiver, you might also want to look at Daily CareLog (The Complete Caregiving Diary), a caregiving log book by this same publisher.

I would highly recommend this journal for anyone who has Diabeties. Recently I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabeties. I had a little log book keeping track of my sugar level that came with my Glucose monitor and I also had a notebook keeping track of my food as well as any other information I needed to write down. This Weekly Journal is awesome. It keeps track of your sugar, your food intake as well as your exercise routine. It also has room to add any additional notes. Its a 52 Week Journal, everything you need in one place. In the back of the book, you have information you can store for yourself which include dates of any medical procedures such as your A1C test that way you can keep track of these things yourself. I would highly recommend this journal to anyone who has Type 2 Diabeties. Its easy, user friendly and a "must have" for all new patients.

When Lifescan -- the manufacturer of my blood glucose meter -- stopped printing their free log books, they recommended that I try this one.
They were right: the format is so clear and easy to use. The way the pages are set up naturally flows with how a diabetic has to keep notes and test throughout the day. The colors and symbols used in the daily charts look cheerful and take a lot of the drudgery out of my daily record-keeping. Plus, the special sections for eyes, teeth, and feet have me paying better attention to my whole diabetes care. This is a quality log book -- well worth the price -- and I would not hesitate to recommend it other people with diabetes!

So far, this remains my reference for neuroangiography. There are large sections on normal anatomy and smaller chapters on intervention and treatment. There are definitely more comprehensive texts, but for beginning neuroangiography, this seems to be a great text.

As a professional neuroradiologist, I recommend this book to all radiologists, neurologists and neurosurgeons who wish to choose just one book in the field of cerebral angiography. In this era of MRA and CTA, this book can give readers not too much, not too little knowledge about normal anatomy and pathological findings. Figures were clearly drawn and clinical DSA images were carefully chosen. Maybe those who wish to become professional neurointerventionists prefer those historical books edited by Dr. Newton, but I suppose even such people would love this book and read it daily.

K.C. Roberts, M.S., C.P., C.C.A. President, American Board of Clinical Autotransfusion, President/CEO, National Transfusion Services The information contained within this book has been valuable to the surgical transfusion programs I consult with. It offers a wonderful balance of traditional transfusion approaches while also doing an excellant job in describing the autologous alternatives for surgical patients that may require bank blood transfusions. The authors have included a section on the "medicallegal aspects of transfusion therapy," which are and will become more and more a problem for any clinician that transfuses blood components. With FDA regulations escalting there will be more need for such information. The last section titled "Special Concerns" includes some very good selections pertaining to the management of anemia, as well as section on general transfusion management, and the specialties of OB/GYN and "Massive Transfusion." If this book is revised I would like t

There is a growing realization that the clinical efficacy ofmechanical circulatory support is not solely a function of blood pumpdesign, but is also dependent on the quality of the infrastructurewhich has been developed to support the programme. This book is both an authoritative statement of this principle and a welcome addition to the artificial heart literature. Information is presented in a clear, concise yet technically detailed manner. The fact that the editor has written eight of the 12 chapters is testament to the breadth and depth of his experience.
Chapters dedicated to special clinical situations and the anaesthetic management of ventricular assist device recipients make a further contribution to the text. The modest price tag ... makes this publication a mandatory purchase for all health care professionals with a serious interest in this therapy.

Steeten's "Orthostatic Disorders of the Circulation: Mechanisms, Manifestations & Treatment" is a research-based thorough review of orthostatic circulation disorders. The author, who has researched the subject for 40+ years, provides the reader with definitions and descriptions of orthostatic edema and hypotension, and lists and differentiates between the various types of edema. Theories related to the pathophysiology of the orthostatic disorders are put forth. Diagnostic tests and interpretations of results from these tests are clearly described, but caution must be used in repeating these tests as described since some changes have developed since the book was published in 1987. Finally, recommendations for medical management of the disorders are provided. Overall, the book is an excellent primer for the practitioner who is unfamiliar with both orthostatic disorders, but particularly the elusive subject of orthostatic edema.
