A nice little book. Does not go into depth on the topic but provides some good ideas. The average person who has allergies probly is more than aware of what the book presents.

This book is fantasitc. The level of detail is deep covering not only a clinical description of what makes us allergic to our pets, but specifically how to live with dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and even horses. I've been asthmatic all my life and I found the "how to allergy proof your home" section, one of the best references on the subject I've read.

I can finally get my daughter her kitty she's been pestering me for years. With the help of this book, I now know exactly what to do so I don't kill myself in the process.

Useful for anybody with pets, not just those with allergies

While the main thrust of this book is to help people who don't own pets because of their allergies become able to cope with having pets in the house, it serves other purposes as well. Many of the tips in here are "common sense" that isn't so common, that will help keep your house cleaner and reduce the amount of dust, mold, and other allergens, not just animal dander, so that everyone breathes easier. And many of the tips will also reduce the perfectly normal odor of most pets, so that some people who don't like pets because "they smell" or "they're too dirty" may be able to be convinced to allow a pet in the house, if the cleaning ideas in this book are followed.

One of the things I like best about this book is that it's divided into sections: first, how to deal with the everyday pets, cats and dogs. But then, a whole separate section on rabbits (which includes lots of information about general rabbit care and habits, as well). One tip worth the entire price of the book, for example: using the bumpy grooming gloves, instead of brushes, which both protects your skin and cleans hair and dander off your pet rabbit.

And then one about birds. There's a list of which species of pet birds are "dustier" than others, so that one can choose a less-dusty species, or, if one chooses, say, a cockatiel, which is a very dusty bird although one of the most common pet birds, one can then be prepared ahead of time with the right kind of cage and supplies for the cockatiel, not just whatever the pet store automatically pushes.

Another chapter deals with the pocket rodents, from hamsters through guinea pigs to chinchillas. Again, there's reasonably accurate (although brief) general care information about these pets, and specific tips for each species.

There are also sections for ferrets and horses, and a big section on allergy-proofing your house in general. There's information about when to see a doctor and what medical treatments are available for allergies and asthma. There's also an extensive list of websites related to pets and allergies. Overall, this is a book that even pet owners without allergies could use, and even people whose allergies are to things other than pets, as well.

The author is very knowledgeable about candida and allergies and all the symptoms that they cause. He is even correct that you have to get more exercize, adjust your diet, eat no sugar so you won't feed the candida, etc.

The book also suggests energy balancing of numerous types. These may work but are only temporary as the author himself states
unless you go to his clinic to be treated with kinesiology and antifungals. I was under the impression this was a book to help yourself not a 250 page advertisment on why you should go to his clinic.

I have been down the take the anti-fungal road before and this is only temporary as yeast and parisites are opportunistic and only hang around if there is wastes (undigested food, toxins, etc)
to eat.

Four books I would recomend more are:
"Why grass fed is best" by JO Robinson
"Nourishing Traditions" by Salley Fallon
"The master Cleanser" by Stanley Burroughs
and
"The Wonders of Colloidal Silver" by Dhyana Coburn

The first two listed are about the role the modern diet has
in Chronic illness. The third tells you how to clean your body
of toxins and the last is about a super non-toxic, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-virus, anti-whatever is bugging you liquid. It was used before the almighty anti-biotics
were invented.

There are better choices.

This book is a must read for anyone interested in health, not just those with allergies or candida. It contains information you could spend years searching for plus insights from the author you will not find anywhere else.

I use the techniques in the book on a daily basis to increase my mental clarity and physical stamina.

If you are sick or just want to stay healthy and feel great, get this book.

This book led me to read the ingredients on my toothpaste. Everyday, twice a day, I was sabotaging my health by brushing my teeth. Although Toms of Main toothpaste is a really great toothpaste (my dentist noticed my cleaner teeth), it is made with Xylitol - which as explained in the ingredients list is derived from Birch. I read the label on my toothpaste after using the testing techniques and finding not only a weak muscle, but that my whole arm went weak (from just holding the tube of toothpaste). According to my allergist Birch is my worst allergy. I no longer feel like falling asleep during the day (at least in the mornings after I would brush my teeth) and at night I am sleeping better. I am working on the Candida and other allergy issues now. Some of the directions get a little confusing but even his basic exercises are very helpful.

In the course of my more than 13 years of battling with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I have read literally hundreds of "health books". I have come to judge these books on whether or not they contain useful, practical information, and if applying the information results in a significant improvement to my health. After reading this book and following the principles it explains, I went from spending days to weeks at a time barely able to get out of bed, to working fulltime and resuming a normal lifestyle. This is one of the very few books I have ever read that effectively addresses the usual collection of otherwise "incurable" chronic illnesses, which have become so widespread. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone who is seriously interested in overcoming one of these chronic illnesses. Wishing you the best of health!

The most complete book on ecological illnesses.

I suggest that all readers with ecological illness buy the 4th edition. Prof. Rochlitz is a genius in the way he explains ecological illness and why so many people don't get completely well from either orthodox or wholistic medicine. He makes many suggestions throughout the book of things you can do to get well on your own, though he does caution that it is important to get to the root of the problem and not treat the symptoms. I know his ideas /techniques saved my family thousands of dollars in doctor bills and educated me about many bogus protocols that were only complicating my health.

As a teacher, I would also suggest this book for any parent or teacher who has children with learning problems. Prof. Rochlitz is a world leader on Brain Integration techniques. His suggestions should be standard in every regular and special education classroom.

The writer of the previous review obviously didn't read the same book I read or she couldn't quite grasp the ideas articulated. Actually she reviewed an older edition. Her advice doesn't make sense and is entirely out of context. The book isn't a recruiting tool to visit Prof. Rochlitz. Her mention of antifungals and parasites clearly demonstrates her ingorance of the topic. Furthermore her list of other books suggest some of the last things seriously ill people need.

I suggest readers who want more information read some of Prof. Rochlitz' recent articles in the medical journal Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients or visit his website wellatlast.com.

Now I can enjoy dessert with my wife again. Jackie was Diagnosed with celiac disease four years ago and dinner was ok but dessert was a problem.
We love to eat and that includes dessert!!!
How easy it is to have something so tasty. I actually feel guilty that our problem was so easily solved. I was a little confused about the review comparing the title of Julie's book to a magazine. Duh???
Where did that come from?
Thank God for self publishers if that be the case, otherwise we may not
have such a great book!!!!

I wish I had this book when I was first diagnosed! Although the only photos are on the front and back cover, just reading the recipes makes my mouth water.

Perhaps the greatest strength of the book is it is so easy to use. Generally there is only one recipe per page, with the ingredients listed at the top and preparation directions at the bottom, making it easily read while cooking. And the ingredients are readily available, even in the back-of-beyond area where I live. The only specialized ingredients, readily available, are xanthan gum, gluten-free pasta (other than homemade, Tinkyada brand is easily the best), and gluten-free flour mix.

Buy this book and your entry into a gluten-free diet will be easy. You'll be making delicious company meals as well.

If you suffer from sinus problems, such as myself, this is a great book to read. I have used one of the products, Oregacyn that Dr. Ingram recommends for sinusitis. It has helped greatly reduce the number of sinus infections that I have and has helped clear ones that start. I have allergies to pollen, trees, dust, etc. and this is the only supplement that I have ever taken that clears my sinus problems, so that I do not have to take antibiotics.

I highly recommend this book. Dr. Ingram covers all sorts of other respiratory ailments too.

Thankful for Dr. Cass Ingram

Having just read the review of July 8, 2005 relating to a press release from 2003, it boosts my trust of Dr. Ingram's very informative books. The American Medical Association would like to see Dr. Ingram and many others like him "go away". We're sort of at the crossroads right now where our liberty to buy natural products (such as Oil of Oregano and Oregacyn, etc.) could be taken away, and we would need a prescription to purchase such items.

Cancer is a multi-billion dollar business in this country. Could that be why the AMA is fighting so hard to get the natural food industry under their thumb? I wish I had known about Oil of Oregano, Oregacyn and Juice of Oregano 8 years ago when my sister learned she had lung cancer. She died 8 months later.

Oil of Oregano has pulled me through sinus problems and colds and a weakness that tends towards respiratory problems. His books with suggested solutions are priceless. Thanks to Dr. Ingram for the sacrifices he has had to make to get this valuable information to us. He is to be honored.

It did take a little bit for my immune system to get on board but it did. Thank you Cass Ingram!! I have purchased the whole line of p73 and the juice. It was and is the best money I have spent!! I have told anyone who will listen. My doctor even wrote it down himself and wants to give it a try. That says it all.

I love this book!!!!! It is extremely informative and has helped our family's health problems immensely. I love the Oregano products recommended in this book. They WORK!!!! My child's asthma has completely disappeared, and my chronic sinus infections are gone. No more antibiotics every few weeks for me because of sinus infections. I can't tell you how relieved I am as a mother, to no longer have to worry about my child having a full blown asthma attack and needing nebulizer treatments every few hours every time he has a cold. Dr. Ingram is a hero to our family.

The recipes in this book are delicious and also well-written. Although there are recipes for many different types of food, my three favorites are for traditional "wheat-replacers": Spice Cake, Soup Dumplings, and Pizza Crust. I would agree with the other reviewer below that Dr. Fenster does tend to use too much sugar -- who puts sugar in pizza crust? But the recipes are very flexible, and I find if I change the amount of sugar, or add carrot shreddings to a cake, or cream cheese to a dumpling - the recipes still work great! I highly recommend this book, not only does it include a ton of gluten-free cooking advice, but also has non-dairy substitutes for every recipe. I also like that she writes, for example, "1 teaspoon GF vanilla" instead of simply "1 teaspoon vanilla." For the recently-diagnosed, this is a great reminder to check _all_ ingredients for gluten.

Delicious Dining is really true!!

Carol Fenster has given all of us that must eat wheat and gluten free such a gift! The time that it must have taken her to perfect such wonderful recipes is truly something not many have the time or talent to do. She has covered just about everything to make eating wheat and gluten free most delicious, indeed! Besides the delicious recipes she has included menus for Quick and Easy Dinners, Reduced Fat, Low Calorie Meals, Fish & Seafood Menus, Poultry Menus, Southwestern Menus and Meatless Meals. And there are more treasures in the back of this great cookbook that are so helpful such as Wheat Flour Equivalents, Substitutes, HIdden Sources of Wheat, Mail-Order Sources etc. If you need to eat wheat or gluten free this cookbook just must be a part of your life! I wouldn't know what to do wtihout it! It surely is a "must buy" cookbook!

This book is a great investment (and for those of us who live on gluten-free food, we all know how HARD it is to find anything for celiacs that's a bargain!)! It has over 200 recipies, but to be honest, there are a few that don't come out all that great. Still, a few out of 200 still makes this book a great investment!

This book is divided by section; Breads: yeast breads, quick breads and breakfast breads; Breakfast and Brunch: breads, meats, cereals, casseroles and other dishes; Pasta, Grains, Beans and Rice: pasta, grains, beans and rice; Desserts: cakes, bars and cookies, fruit desserts, puddings and custards, pies, miscellaneous; Soups: soups and soup components; Sauces and Salad Dressings: salad dressings, chutney and salsa, sauces for entrees or vegetables, dessert sauces and miscellaneous; Vegetables: potatoes and miscellaneous; Poultry: grilled chicken, stove-top chicken, and baked dishes; Fish and Seafood: fish and shellfish; Meats - Beef and Pork: beef, mixed meats, and pork & ham; Menus and finally, Appendices with valuable info like wheat flour equivalents and substitutes for wheat as a thickener.

My only major complaint (apart from that some of the recipies don't turn out half as well as they sound, but then again, that's to be expected on a gluten-free diet), is that unless you like Mexican / south-western food, about a quarter of these recipies are of no use to you. Before being diagnosed with celiac I used to get terrible indigestion (the author claims her only problem with wheat and gluten was a runny nose and stuffy sinuses). For anyone who is a celiac, and who has experienced the horrible side effects of simply eating food before a diagnosis is established, you probably want to AVOID foods that traditionally cause heartburn or gas or other symptoms similar to what I call a 'wheat-attack'. I'm sure plenty of people out there are able to handle Mexican / south-western food, but a huge number of celiacs are sensitive to all kinds of food, and kicking food up with peppers and spices and whatever else is great if your sinuses are blocked, but after having heartburn for months on end, you might not be too eager to start cooking up a big ol' pot of chilli!

Over all, it's still a good buy. I mean, even though I don't see many celiacs (espically soon after their diagnosis) cooking some of these things, it's a good book to have. You can make lots of things that are fairly "soft" on your tummy, and maybe after a little while (it's been almost 2 years since my diagnosis and I STILL won't touch a pot of chilli!) you can try some of these more spicy variations in the kitchen. If you're simply gluten-intolerant, or have sinus problems like the author, then this book is a great investment! If I weren't a celiac I'd definately give it 5 stars!

Is this the best we can do?

Many of the recipes in this book are very good, but some are only ok. There are some problems with some of them - for example the crepe recipe: it's way too thick. Perhaps the crepe recipe and the pancake recipe were reversed? There have been other errors in the recipes that make me want a better wheat-free cookbook. Where is it?

I bought this book based on the reviews here, because they were unfailingly glowing. I didn't even look at it, I just bought it and took it home. I ended up returning it, sadly disappointed. At first glance, I was really excited about it, because I could serve almost every recipe in it. The problem came when I actually went to use the darned thing. Recipe after recipe calls for "potato flour (starch)" Those are actually two different things. The author needs to know that, and use the terms appropriately. I should not have to write to her and ask which she means, especially for so many recipes. Then I went to make the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. In the ingredient list, it calls for 2 cloves of garlic. In the instructions, it asks you to roast 2 bulbs, and then use 10-12 of the cloves. That's a pretty massive oversight. Yeah, I need to read the whole thing through before I make it the first time (which I did, so I wasn't particularly put out, just annoyed). But two major mistakes (that cover many recipes) is enough to keep me from even wanting to bother with the cookbook. I gave it three stars, because I'm sure the majority of the recipes are fine, and many looked tasty. I just don't have the patience to try to figure out which ones are and which aren't. That's the point of a book like that. If I want to have to go through and painstakingly work out which recipes will work, I can buy any old cookbook. I'll stick with my gluten-free vegetarian cook book for now. If they come out with a revised, improved version, I'll try again.

An ideal and recommended addition to any personal, family, and community cookbook collection.

One of life's genuine pleasures for the true food lover in search of great culinary experiences is to browse the pages of a really fine cookbook. The hunt for suitable cuisine that would be as nutritious as it is delicious for those who must be mindful of food allergies is especially challenging. There are currently about 12 million Americans who are diagnosed as having a significant food allergy that could imperial their health -- and even their lives. That is where Melisa Priem's "8 Degrees Of Ingredients" is a particularly impressive compendium of 250 hypoallergenic recipes specifically designed to be used in behalf of those who have been diagnosed as having to avoid eight common allergens (wheat, soy, eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish. But because these things must be avoided does not condemn any such diagnosed person from preparing and consuming dishes that would please any palate and satisfy any appetite. "8 Degrees Of Ingredients" showcases recipes that range from Honey-Roasted Chickpeas; Chili-Stuffed Baked Potatoes; Pork Fried Rice; and Chicken Enchiladas; to Chilled Broccoli Salad; Beef Burgundy; Veal Marsala; and Blueberry Peach Cobbler. Especially for those with food allergies, but terrific for anyone that enjoys making great meals featuring 'kitchen cook friendly' menus, "8 Degrees Of Ingredients" is an ideal and recommended addition to any personal, family, and community cookbook collection.

Amazingly, 1 out of every 3 people has a food intolerance or allergy. This staggering number can make it hard to cook safe and delicious foods for family and friends. No longer!

Melisa K. Priem's book, 8 Degrees of Ingredients, is chock full of recipes made to suit a wide variety of restrictive diets: gluten-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, etc. All the recipes are free of the top 8 food allergens (milk, egg, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, peanuts and tree nuts). The recipes range from comfort foods like meatloaf to the fancy pan-seared duck breast with cherry wine sauce. Many recipes will appeal to kids as well - my toddler could not get enough of the gyro kebobs!

As a naturopathic doctor, I recommend this as great resource to my patients with food intolerances and those following a hypoallergenic diet to discover their own food sensitivities. Often their eyes will glaze over when we first discuss eliminating major allergens (soy, wheat, dairy, nuts, etc.) from their diet. Most typical American cooking contains many of these potential allergens, so following a hypoallergenic diet can feel quite overwhelming. Directing them to this cookbook has been a huge comfort that yes, they will be able to continue to eat tasty and familiar foods!

The recipes themselves are clear and concise. They contain easy-to-follow directions for even a novice cook, explaining how to braise a pork chop or cook whole grains, for example. The recipes are very flavorful, seasoned liberally with herbs and spices. An especially rich section is the desserts. This is often where hypoallergenic recipes are extremely lacking. Candies, cookies, cakes and puddings offer many choices for the sweet tooth on a restrictive diet. The whoopie pies are fantastic. It is hard to believe that those pies are gluten, dairy, and egg-free!

My concerns with 8 Degrees of Ingredients are few but pointed. I find it very surprising that more people have a sensitivity to fish, than to corn or nightshade plants (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant), as that is not what I see in my practice. I also would have liked photos included of the recipes. Photos always make a recipe seem more enticing to make.

Overall, this is a great cookbook for those with food intolerances/allergies and for the people who cook for them. For the beginning cook to the seasoned chef, there are tons of delicious hypoallergenic meals to be made!

Armchair Interviews says: Those with allergies will love this book.

Dissapointed b/c of printing mistake

The book itself is very informative for me because my son suffers from allergies. I was however dissapointed because the page numbers went from 1-31, 82-101, 1-31. This must have been a printing mistake! This is the kind of book you would want to look up something in the index and then find the page number but you can't do it!!!!

I would give it 10 stars

I read this book the same time my son (who is suffering from atopic eczema) started a therapy with a naturopath. To my amazement did she the exact same things recommended by the author. And even better I knew what she was doing, because I had read the book myself. After 6 years of frustration, seeing my son suffering from eczema, countless, sleepless nights comforting my son, we finally seeing improvement. It took 4 months of drastic diet changes and 4 visits with the naturopath and my son is almost symptom free. we never got that far. Who ever is affected by allergy - indirectly (as parent or caregiver) or directly - should read this book. It is easy to read (even for me - english is not my native language) and to understand. It changes the way of thinking, of why we are getting sick and that we are responsible ourselfs for the things we put in our mouth we often call food! Good luck.

Best book I ever read!

This has to be the most informative, yet easy-reading health book in existence. The author has excellent credentials and is obviously very well educated. Being sick for 23 years, this book has filled in many missing pieces to the great puzzle of my condition -- something 20-odd doctors have been absolutely no help with. If you have ANY chronic health problem or just don't feel as good as you'd like to, READ THIS BOOK! It gives you valuable information on a broad spectrum of interrelated topics and then concludes with a distinct plan of action. It kindled hope for me that I can regain my health and have a life for the first time since age 17.

Hope for allergy sufferers

Allergies:Disease in Disguise has changed my life. The author has written first a clear definition of what allergy is, and then given a plan of action to over come it. In the last few years, I have suffered from a widening array of allergies and was miserable much of the time while taking allergy medication. After following the authors directions for recovery for 4 weeks, I am recovering! I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to make some perhaps significant changes in diet.

I'm glad to read such a logically well presented book.

So many people are closed minded to the possible side effects of eating cooked and processed foods.I found the book entertaining and informative, with logical, easy to understand explanations. I just wish I could do something to help people to learn how to improve their health. I think a person's health is the most important part of life. What can you do when you're ill all of the time? This book and a few others I've read lately inspired me to change my diet signifigantly, and whenever my instructor asks me to write a paper, I usually write about a health concern that I'm interested in. It also makes me feel good that the truth is being revealed, you just have to go in pursuit of it.

I have 3 sons and 2 have been diagnosed with ADHD, and put on Ritalin. I was told by the doctor that nothing worked except drugs. My bright boy went from being bright and inventive (loud, destructive, non-cooperative, etc) to a little robot that sat on the chair and did nothing, nothing at all. In distress I went back and the doctor said - I'll get used to it ... not likely. I took him off the ritalin, and we went looking for another answer, finally finding this book. After the first week, I went from having 3 sons with severe behaviour problem to having 3 normal little boys, who have food allergies. This book is my bible in the kitchen, and if you have a child with ADHD, then please, read this book. I wish I had found it 6 years ago, as it has given my boys back to me.

I have and 8 yo adhd odd son. I started removing dyes and additives from his diet at 5 years old because I NOTICED that it made a difference. This year I finally bought sue's book and you cannot believe the difference this has made in my sons life... Sues book explains it all... My son is sensitive to salacylates amines and additives. Everyday his behavior is rated by his teacher from 1-5. pre diet we were lucky to get a 3... now 3s are bad days. It can be hard but it is so worth it...

We are brought up to believe fruit is good for us and it is, but in moderation and some of us are more sensitive to food than we know. The diet outlined in this book is revolutionary but is also life changing! Food chemicals can and DO affect us, the added food chemicals are even worse than the natural ones.
The Feingold diet is the start of this revolution and Sue takes it even further, this doesn't totally disregard Feingold at all just improves on his ideas.

I had an ADHD son and a "failing" baby who possibly would not have survived who were both "cured" by this diet. I myself have shaken off my long term depression due to it also. We do not need any medications now.

Try the diet for a month before you trash the idea,... if you do not experience any changes then trash it but I would like to bet that the positive changes will change your mind.

For even easier reading and guidance, get hold of Failsafe Cookbook which is easier to refer back, and follows up this first book of Sue Dengate's. There is also a webpage (www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info) with heaps of information and also scientific study with proof on how added preservative in our bread can cause serious side affects in our childrens behaviour and illnesses.

My daughter was diagnosed ADHD at the age of 5 and put on ritalin and last year (2003) I found Sue's book, found lots of on my daughter in it so decided to take the plunge and tried the diet. My daughter went from being unhappy, rejected by her peers and academically lacking to a child who was happy, healthy, socially and academically capable and is still improving. For my daughter salicylates (which are in varying degrees in all fruit and vegetables were a killer, they prevented her from learning as her body could not tolerate them. Her teacher asked me what I had done to my daughter as she went from being distractive and disruptive in class to sitting in class and being part of the "core" of the class. It only took one week for her body to get rid of the offending salicylates (which were like poison to her body) and my angel appeared and she has now been able to be taken off ritalin.

Thank you Sue for your wonderful book, without which my daughter would have been on ritalin and still no better off.

If you only buy one book in your life - IT SHOULD BE THIS!!

This is is the first review I have ever felt compelled to write in response to the first review which claims that this book is "rubbish". Let me just say that my father found out about food intolerance from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney a few years before Sue wrote the book. Furthermore I have a sister who is studying neuroscience, another who studies medicine - we all support Sue Dengate and feel we are eating healthier food than we have ever done before.

Food intolerance is a relatively new area being studied and we are far from completely understanding how chemicals (food and other)affect the body. Sue Dengates book was the first piece of literature which gave me an insight into food intolerance and how it affected me. Years later I still am re-reading it. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A COPY!!!!

Growing up, though outside of the home I was thought to be an angel and was achieving exceptional grades (without studying mind you, which I have always regretted) - at home I was often a completely obnoxious, uncontrollable terror. The foods I was eating affected my health and mood (I often had a cold, had constant swings between adoring everyone and being depressed or angry - especially if I was asked to clean up etc). Rarely did a day go past where I did not get into trouble. We all thought it was normal behaviour - part of growing up. Imagine everyones relief when I started eating "friendly foods". In fact everyone noticed improvements - and mum's migranes are gone.

I can't begin to descibe the profound effect this book and finding out about food intolerance has had on my family's life. I am still learning how food effects me. This isn't a diet!! Everyone is affected by food differently and everyone has a different tolerance level to certain chemicals (refer to "Super Size Me").It is about finding out if and to what extent you are affected - allowing you to make informed decisions about what you put in your mouth - allowing you to lead the life you want to lead.

Once big problems like health and behaviour have disappeared there are subtle effects food has on your mood, concentration, sleep, balance etc These take longer to fix - and often you only notice the difference when you start eating the wrong foods again. I am one of the lucky ones to have been affected enough for the diet to have a notieable difference in my behaviour so these subtle benefits can give me the extra edge over my competition at university.

Sue, if you read this - I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!

I have some Black Cumin seed from a website called www.blackseedusa.com and the book contains many wonderful recipes to use the Black Cumin seeds and oil for different ailments. I am eagerly waiting for the authors to write another book on the subject. To be sure you have the true Black Cumin always look for the botanical name "Nigella sativa"

Known for healing every disease (except death), cumin is as important as a spice in recipes and as a medicine for colds and other such conditions. This book also shows the effectiveness of black cumin in treatments for asthma, allergies and acne. The authors provide fascinating information on this plant, including its important use in Ancient Egyptian times. Recipes are included for the knowledgeable or curious cook. Well illustrated, this book is recommended mostly for health and food aficionados.

Nickie Dumke's breadmaking book is a MUST have for those of us who suffer with food allergies. She takes all the guess work out of how to convert a bread recipe so that it will really work. Before her book, homemade bread was out of the question unless one was going to use traditional ingredients. I highly recommend this book. The recipes are easy and the product is delicious!

Some years ago I went through a grueling season of severe allergic reactions to almost all foods and many chemical substances. During the worst of this period--about nine months--I lost 50 lbs and could eat almost nothing. As I slowly recovered, I discovered Nickie Dumke's library of wonderful cookbooks. Designed for those with special needs, they guided me with healthful and tasty recipes and large amounts of very useful information. When my husband grew allergic to wheat and most breads, we bought this book. It was a blessing to have fragrant breads baking in our home again--without problems. I heartily recommend this and all of her books, not only for those with special needs but for anyone seeking delicious healthful recipes.
