Probiotic and Prebiotic Recipes for Health is an excellent book to read if you are looking to improve your digestive system and health with practical tips, guidelines and recipes. They say your digestion is the engine that drives your bodies overall health, immune system, daily energy levels and protection against illness. Since I have food allergies and food intolerances, I found this book loaded with easy-to-read information that I am using to improve my own allergies. Now I'm not confused about all the differences and health benefits of yogurt, kefir, and the other varieties of fruits and vegetable for improving digestion. As a physical therapist, I will highly recommend this book to my patients who are suffering with digestive problems.

Serving the Allergic Guest: Increasing Profit, Loyalty and Safety is a very well written, easy to read book that educates restaurateurs, chefs, caterers, culinary schools and bakeries like ours how to keep their guests and customers with food allergies safe. We've implemented the ideas and are able to delight our allergic customers.

Beyond that Joanne Schlosser, the author is President of the Food Allergy Awareness Institute. She has worked in the industry and has suffered with severe food allergies for over 40 years, providing a wealth of examples and expertise.

This book bridges the gap between guests, food servers and food preparation. It's a must for anyone in the industry who wants to protect their guests and their business (lawsuits and liability are hot issues these days) and build on guest loyalty. Joanne takes a delicate subject and lays it gently on the table. Thanks for the foundation for some powerful tools!

Every single day, tens of thousands of people are hurting, suffering - and dying even - because of indoor air pollution. The EPA calls indoor air pollution "America's most serious enviromental problem affecting the health of humans."

More than 50 million Americans suffer from allergies, many caused or aggravated by polluted air. Colds sinus problems, coughing, headaches, and having to use breathing machines is not normal. Most cases can be prevented.

And, what about unsafe water? It is everywhere, and you need to learn the truth - the facts - from experts in their field about chlorine and fluoride and how unsafe water affects you.

Once you understand how to avoid tha damage this bad air and water causes, you'll live more comfortably. There is no need to hurt, or to live in pain, because of dangers you can't see.

This book gives you facts and answers on how to rid your home of these dangers quickly, safely, inexpensively, and forever!

This book hits on the surface of cat allergies and possibly help for those who love cats but can only do so from afar. It discusses various methods to reduce allergens in the home and also talks about various breeds that may work better for people allergic to cats, including several hairless or very short-haired cats and the Siberian Cat.

Dermatology/Immunology reference superstar.

Stedman's Dermatology and Immunology Words is once again in the Stedman category of excellent medical reference books. This extremely handy book, ideal for the medical transcriptionist who deals with dermatology, allergy, rheumatology, and infectious diseases, including those in the HIV-related area, will not go wrong with this volume. In addition to the aforementioned specialty categories, it also includes diagnostic procedures, lab tests, equipment/instruments and even prosthesis terms in the involved specialties. It is fully cross-referenced which is extremely handy when you know the dictator is saying, for example, some kind of "acne", but cannot clearly hear or are not totally acquainted with his/her statement such as "varioliformis acne" as one example. Additionally, there are several indexes that include appropriate anatomical illustrated guides, a list of commonly used word combination forms [viz, "chondro = cartilage, etc.], and, very handy, an extensive list of common allergens.

The editor claims this book has 41,000 entries which also include abbreviations and acronyms. The medical transcriptionist, who especially deals with dermatology/allergy, cannot go wrong with this reference book. As a medical transcriptionist, I rate it tops.

Lose 3 lbs a week!!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.

Cardiologist Dr. Blake Donaldson wrote this book in early 60s after his patients had unsuccessful results with low-calorie diets. It is the original no-carb diet and it is not for sissies but if you are dedicated you can lose 3 lbs a week. In addition to weight loss, there are chapters on heart disease, gall stones, diabetes, osteoarthritis, hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure and allergies.

I have lost a good deal of weight with the help of this book and feel so much better. It gives one a lot of power to know how simple it is to control your weight once you understand how. You will not be hungry on this diet I promise!!

Great recipes to support your immune system
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1999-03-19
I have totally enjoyed the recipes in the Toxic Immune Syndrome Cookbook, these recipes are great and provide me and my family with the optimal nutrition to support our bodies. The recipes call for relatively pure foods so it minimizes exposure to toxic food additives. Foods such as sugars, simple carbohydrates, fermented products and fruit which cause yeast and fungus are eliminated or minimized.

Also foods which are most likely to be allergenic, such as dairy, wheat, corn and soy are also either eliminated or minimized.

The recipes were easy and tasty. Easy to read and follow.

An Impressive Work

I came to this book as it was recommended to me by a friend. I am not usually a fan of medical work, but I found this book to be entrhalling. The clarity and luminity in which Dr. Lieberman explains the many facets of this illness is enlightening. I was especially impressed that even though I had no real background in this field I was easily able to understand the concepts and ideas put forth. Dr. Lieberman is a medical genius who deserves far more recognition across the world, and not just in the medical field. I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates works of intelligence, clarity and thoughtfulness.
