When Julie finds out that Matt has cancer she does her best to get him through it. She was full of love for him and I felt that there was a very strong bond between them. I can't wait until another book by Jennifer Baker comes out!!

When Matt discovers he has cancer, Julie tries her hardest to be there for him. As Matt sinks into despair, Julie realizes that she has to be there for him, continue in school, AND pay the bills. It causes a HUGE strain on their marriage but Julie stays there for him thru thick and thin. Matt almost gives completely up on life until Julie gives him news that quickly causes him to realize that there is a reason to live.
Great story! Once again show the real strain of marriage and doesn't sugar coat it.

Nicely done! A good follow-up to his WISC-R book, this is an enjoyable, in-depth look at something most psychologists don't know enough about.

I read Kaufman's book in a graduate class on assessment and intelligence testing. I still refer to it whenever I have unusual test scores with a WISC-III. It explains in a comprehensive and clear manner how a competent psychologist should interpret the WISC-III. It is worth every penny.

This is a really wonderful book. It helps children to be prepared for the choices they will make when it comes to safety. Children love it too because they get to be involved by opening the pop up flaps. The wonderful illustrations also make the book complete. They include children of all different races which promotes diversity.

i just received my copy and i am thoroughly delighted. the aspect of having the child actually work with the book brings the book alive in a way that television or video simply cannot achieve. the child is actually involved in the physical book itself. and the illustrations are so very charming and the perfect compliment to the text. there is a gentleness to the artwork that brings to mind all that was wonderful about the late mr. rogers.
i highly recommend this book to all parents and children everywhere.

This is a great story for any child who has an interest in bones, doctors, hospitals, the human body etc. The illustrations are cute. The story is of a little girl, Jessica, who has broken her arm. As she is receiving care at the hospital, she sees all different types of x-rays and the different types of equipment that take them. The best part of all is that there are real X-rays on every other page for kids to study up close. My preschoolers really enjoyed spending some time looking over those pages. It's a very unique book. I would highly recommend it for the budding scientist or for any child who may have to have X-rays of their own taken.

This book is an amazing learning tool for kids and adults. Anyone could find useful information in Jessica's X-Ray. For kids though, the real X-ray's that you find within the book allow kids to become intrigued and raise there level of interest in the subject matter. I would recommend this book to anyone but especially children who might need any sort of X-ray, there is no doubt in my mind that it would ease their worries and facilitate a much easier and enjoyble experience in the hospital or doctors office.

This is a good book for young kids when they have to go to the doctor. In this book, a one-year-old boy named Jonathan has a bad cold. His parents (I named them Sherry and Rich because those are my friend Jonathan's parents' names) take him to see Dr. Peake. She looks in his ears, throat, eyes, and listens to his heart. After the checkup, Dr. Peake tells Sherry that Jonathan needs medicine. Then, Rich and Jonathan pick up the medicine. At the pharmacy, a pharmacist gives him a Get Well Bear. That night, Rich gives Jonathan some medicine. Sherry has a look on her face to Jonathan that is saying, "Jonathan, you need to take it so you can get better." The next morning, his bear has a runny nose! Sherry is saying, "Blow!" Then, at the end of the book, Jonathan is looking out the window. I reccomend this book to kids when they first see the doctor.

I think this book is good for teaching young children about visting the doctor. A one-year-old boy named Jonathan had a very bad cold. His parents take him to see Dr. Peake. She looks in his ears and eyes and mouth and listens to his heart. Eventually, she tells Jonathan's parents that Jonathan needs medicine for his cold. At the pharmacy, someone gives him a Get Well Bear as a gift. Jonathan gets healthy quickly and he gets to play now that he is well! I highly reccomend this!

My 2 year old daughter did not enjoy her trips to the doctor one bit. She was fascinated by Jonathan's visit to the doctor in this book. She wanted it read and re-read for more than a week. I think seeing another baby go through a doctor's visit in a positive way helped her understand and cope with the experience. On her next visit to the doctor we both made reference to the book as the doctor checked her ears, listened to her heart and chest, etc. - all things Jonathan does in the book. It was a much more pleasant experience for both of us. I would say this book was, for us, an unqualified success.

Joni's Story is an very inspiring book because she creates a good athmosphere by using a wide variety of words. She explained her feelings well and you get a picture in your mind of all the things she was going through after the acident. I liked the book so much I ended up reading it twice. The first time I read this book was when I was 8 but when I read it again I was 10 and that shows this book is not aimed at any specific age group.

I saw this book in its manuscript phase and thought it was going to be an excellent read - and I wasn't mistaken.
Although the theme is not one for everybody, the author has captured its vein in such a way that even younger readers can get a lot out of it. Read it with a box of Kleenex, and digest it with honey: Robin has done a very good job telling the world about her abused childhood; one feels like taking her in one's arms and hug her and keeping her away from those who hurt her so much.
A story that will stay in the reader's mind for a long time to come!

In reading this story, I actually found myself tearing up. How this type of abuse can happen and no one know. I feel that this child was very brave. I liked the book due to the fact it is a story that needs to be told. I could not find anything I didn't like except what was going on with this child. Myself I think she had no other choice but to run away. I could not believe that the mother was making her lie to her dad, making her steal, and telling her what would happen to her if she told, And then the beating that her dad her own father gave her. It just makes me angry her parents did her that way. I would cherish my children because I would know that God gave them to me.

We were given this book as a gift when my daughter, at 3 1/2 yrs old, was diagnosed with Leukemia. It instantly became her favorite, and she had us read it to her over and over. It sent a positive message in such a well-written way that even a child her age could understand. She still treasures that book and last year read it to her 2nd grade class. It will always be one of our favorites!

I first read this book in the local pharmacy while waiting
for a prescription to be filled. Written by a local author
who meant nothing to me, I found it upbeat and reassuring
but soon put it out of my mind. Several years later, when
my youngest daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer, a
friend gave us a copy of the book and suggested I contact
the author. The story was an inspiration to my daughter,
the first hope that a child with cancer could survive to
have a story told about her. When she later met the subject
of the book, a friendship formed. No other book about cancer
is so directed towards children (with the exception of Goes'
"My Book about Cansur" actually written by a 6-year-old
with cancer) without talking down to them and putting an
ugly disease into undeserved "pretty" terms of courage
and bravery. This book should be given to every child upon
diagnosis.

"Katie Caught a Cold" is a story about a bear named Katie who comes down with a cold right before her upcoming ice show. Her mom calls Dr. Hippo and tells him Katie's symptoms. Dr. Hippo tells Katie's mom that the cold could be part of a viral infection and should go away on its own without antibiotics. Sure enough, Katie's cold goes away and is better in time for her to skate in the show.
Cayden: "We have read Dr. Hippo books before- a giraffe one and an elephant one! I like these books!"
Max: "Doctor!"
Cayden: "Look they are playing tic-tac-toe, the game that Papa taught me! When can we play that again?"
Cayden: "What is mucous?"
Max: "Mucous!"
Cayden: "She didn't have to go to the doctor because she just had a cold. Her mom just called the doctor instead."
Cayden: "I liked when they had the ice show because they got medals and had their pictures taken!"
Parent's comments:
"Katie Caught a Cold" is a great book to educate parents and children about colds and how antibiotics will not do anything to help them. Along with the story is a booklet inside the back cover written especially for parents. In this booklet is all of the information you need about children's colds such as what medicines to give, what the complications of a cold are, and when to call the doctor.
Like all of the other Dr. Hippo books, "Katie Caught a Cold" is filled with wonderfully-detailed and brightly-colored illustrations which my children love. The storyline is one that they definitely can relate to since they have had many colds this past winter. This is a great book for both children and parents alike!
