Not enough ideas for me

I wanted a good face painting book to use with my three-year-old, but this book wasn't much help. It has a good tiger and clown. Other faces in the book were either too simple to need directions (i.e. paint a flag on the cheek) or too abstract or scary for my little guy.

Ok if you only have five minutes

This book is for the mom who is looking for something to get her through a birthday party and not for those seriously looking to get into face painting as a serious hobby or business. The faces are basic and offer little for the imagination. If it were much less expensive it would get better reviews, but at the same cost you can get much better face painting books from the market. Check it out at the library instead.

No matter what your kids want to dress up as, this 45 page book will help you get them in disguise in a jiffy. Large color photos are wonderful guide and faces included are: clown, pierrot, masquerade, snow queen, indian brave, flower girl, pirate, lion, tiger, scary faces for halloween, animals and more! Very good book with instructions about the basics with plenty of designs to choose to try for years to come.

Nothing new here - nothing that you haven't heard before. This is basically one long advertisement of Brandt's products. You could go bankrupt trying to hold back the years this way and wouldn't have time for anything but beauty regimens.

Dr. Perricone's books are far more informative and even though he has a product line, too, his books focus on scientific studies and facts, nutrition and health, and he provides information that you can use even if you don't buy his products.

Here is a doctor who talks about cleansing the body through diet, and then suggests you inject every possible thing into your face. I was not impressed. I was under the impression the book would have good diet tips to keep one looking youthful.

I learned so much from reading this book. Things I never knew about your skin. I use Dr. Brandt's Poreless line already but this informative book just adds to that. I would recommend it to anyone.

This book disappointed me.The pictures were not worth publishing because you can barely make them out. They are all black and white and look as though they were photocopied from a very bad copier. The text however was not bad if you are new Esthetics and want to know just how much science has to do with the profession.

Don't bother

Outdated and poorly written, I found this book to be a big disappointment. Many topics relating to the professional esthetician were not thoroughly covered or were not covered at all. In many instances, the author was incorrect in the scientific aspects of the book. Many things were not fully explained. It seemed as if the author wrote the bare minimum in order to complete a book. The only skin care discussed was a facial. This is a basic skill taught in cosmetology school. Check out Milady's Standard Textbook for Professional Estheticians instead. I found it to be a much better text.

Catastrophic scars may result from natural 'cancer salves'.(Dermatology): An article from: Internal Medicine News

If I understand you right, a scar is a "catastrophe" whereas cancer itself or surgical treatment of cancer is somehow less "catastrophic"? Does this make sense to you?

Anyone who reads my book will discover that there are skillful and reckless ways to use cancer salves, but dismissing something because of scarring seems a bit overzealous. Haven't you seen surgery scars.

I haven't read this article, but the headlines are just too sensational.

I was very disappointed when I received this book. First of all it is totally outdated. Secondly it is thin and not as comprehensive as the title makes it out to be. Yes, the author touches the topics, but somehow the title sounds much better than the actual book.

This book has a lot of great info and recipes, but if you are not an experinced soapmaker, you probably will not have the ingredients you need. First there are a lot of things you have to get at the grocery/drug store: distilled water, glycerine, corn meal, oatmeal, olive oil, baking soda, cornstarch, honey, vegetable oil, vodka, witch hazel, epsom salts, castor oil, etc. Then you have to get a lot of things from mail order or specialty stores, like essentail oils, jojoba oil, coconut oil, herbs, sea salts, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, benzoin, beeswax, cosmetic clays. These items can get very expensive.

From a beginner's point of view, the recipes in this book can be overwhelming because they contain ingredients which are not commonplace. However, this book does offer an exceptional ingredient guide which carefully describes each one and its uses. The Mail Order Buyer's Guide found in the back of the book is also useful in locating and purchasing the hard to find ingredients.

The author divides her book into sections: Hand Care, Foot Care, and Skin Care. In each, she takes the time to carefully outline the resons behind many beauty problems, such as Athlete's Foot, Adult Acne, Brittle Nails, Eczema, etc. Learning what may cause the problems and how they can be resolved is a great reason to read the book.

If you are an experienced herbalist then the recipes found here can be a great addition to your already natural lifestyle. For beginners, take the time and spend the money if you are inclined to learn how to make your own home spa. This book successfully teaches how to achieve a natural approach to beautiful hair, skin, hands, and feet.

I felt that the book did not deliver at all what the title suggests. There is a VERY short section on eczema, and it is frankly contradictory to anything else I've read or been told by a professional. If you are buying this for the purpose of information/help with eczema, don't waste your time.

Even though I have had approx. 6 months of tap dancing class so I know many of the basic steps, I found this book and CD difficult to use. I believe the author is not very successful at describing how to tap dance using words. I think that beginners would really struggle to understand what they are supposed to be doing.
