About the Book/Author/ContentsReview Date: 2007-08-30
India is a land of hairstyles. In no other country, has so much imagination, thought and artistic genius bent lent to devising hairstyles as in India. This is apparent from the rich and kaleidoscopic variety of coiffures, delineated in the whole range of early Indian plastic art. The present book is a study of the different varieties of hairstyles, as reflected in the early Indian art. The author has examined the sculptures of Barhut, Sanchi, Amaravati, Gandhara, Nagarjunakonda and Mathura and also the murals of Ajanta, which impeccably portray the varieties of hairstyles known to their periods. The coverage, from the second century B.C. to the sixth-seventh centuries A.D., records all trends and tendencies in fashion and styles.

Hair Can Tell alot!Review Date: 2008-09-28
"Hair tissue mineral analysis is a relatively inexpensive, non-invasive, biological stable sampling technique which can be employed by any skilled, trained physician, and which will provide information not readily available by any other competitive diagnostic technique.
Dr. Bland..gives a carefully reasoned and well referenced account of the technique.
Contents Include:
* Dietary Influence on Hair Minerals
* The Relationship Between Serum and Hair Mineral Levels
* Analysis of the Data Supporting Hair Mineral Analysis
* Hair Minerals as a Screening Tool for Toxic Mineral Exposure
* Integration of Hair Mineral Data with Serum, Urine and Dietary Data

His writing style is somewhere between Dave Barry and Andy Rooney - really innocent approach with some great punches.
It's a religious book, but very light and humorous. Reminds me of the funny articles that Readers' Digest publishes.

Not your typical workshop anthology; a pleasure to readReview Date: 2004-06-23
Call me biased (I'm a graduate of Columbia College's MFA program), but inside are some writers to watch. Todd H. Dills, editor of The 2nd Hand, is here, along with Shelli Johnson, a recent winner of a Writer's Digest International Self-Published Book Award. Carla McCarty's "McDono's" is a warm, hilarious story that should become an oft-reprinted classic. James R. Hein's novel excerpt takes you on the emotional laughter-tears-laughter ride of a family in which the mother is manic-depressive -- when he finishes the novel, I expect it to rival Confederacy of Dunces.
Other highlights include: fiction by Devon Polderman, Josephina Gasca, Lila Nagarajan, Deb Lewis, Julia Borcherts, Marya Patrice Smith, Erika Mikkalo, Felicia Swanson, Jeff Jacobson, and Audrey Qween Roy-Wicks, with creative nonfiction by Michael Curtin, Mark Child, John Lowery, Germaina Solorzano, and many others.
The anthology overall is vibrant and gutsy, with frank explorations of family, race, sex, class, mental illness, theft, altered states -- you name it. It will make you laugh at some points and bite your tongue in others, upset you, gross you out, disturb and challenge you in one-hundred and twelve ways -- but it WON'T put you to sleep.
