From a Mother of 3 daughters, I certainly would have found this book, "HAPPY THOUGHTS FOR BAD HAIR DAYS:" Encouragement for Teens, a real asset in their informative teen years. What's a Mother to do to answer some of their terrifying teen questions. Unfortunately, someone else's thought and ideas "sink in" more than a Mom's thoughts. With God on our side, all of our girls turned out AWESOME. They are all Godly Women. Their inside beauty is equal to their outside beauty. ANDREA, continue to bring God into the hearts of today's young gals through your encouragement of your books.

This book was really awesome! It was an easy read, and even at 36 it gave me great insights! I wish there had been such good christian writers for teens when I was young. We've all had "bad hair days" (on the outside as well as inwardly), and teen girls have a very real need to know there are people who haven't forgotten what it feels like to be where they are now. Andrea sure lets us all feel like she cares about our daily struggles, and I appreciate her for that! Good job, Andrea, I'll be looking forward to your next book!

Like a support group, only BETTER!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-12
Reading I Am Not My Breast Cancer is like attending a support group for women with breast cancer, only better. Instead of hearing the experiences of one or a few women, the reader shares the cancer journey with hundreds of women. The 800 women who participated in the original project from which the book is drawn are from all across the United States and from several other countries as well. They shared their feelings and experiences with openness and honesty. They laughed and cried together, gave each other advice, and bonded with each other.

Ruth Peltason took those many and varied threads and wove them lovingly into this book. I Am Not My Breast Cancer is not a medical resource, it is a practical resource. It is not the story of one woman's breast cancer, it is the distillation of hundreds of women's experiences with breast cancer--young women, women in midlife, older women, women with early stage disease and women with metastatic disease. Ms. Peltason, herself a two time breast cancer survivor, treats each woman's experience with dignity and respect.

Any woman touched by breast cancer will find herself in the pages of this book, and it will help those around her understand a little better what she may be going through. Cancer centers and doctors' offices should be sure this volume is added to their libraries--it fills a void and meets a need like no other book out there. As a breast cancer survivor, I say, "Thank you, Ms. Peltason, for writing I Am Not My Breast Cancer!"

Give this to anyone affected by breast cancer.

As a man whose wife is undergoing chemotherapy, I wanted to read this book for several reasons. I wanted as much understanding as possible about the emotional aspects for all involved, I wanted to see how well I was doing as the significant other and I wanted to Understand what I might be missing/overlooking about the whole process.
This book did an incredible job answering all three questions. The distillation of wisdom, anger, hope and total honesty of the 800 women involved in the creation of this book is amazing. The brief, but succinct comments, collected on such a diverse arrangements of topics will not only provide helpful paths for those undergoing treatment, but also for ANY family member, friend or co-worker sincerely interested in understanding and supporting the individual battling the disease of breast cancer.
This book should be in every public and health science library as it will do for the soul and spirit what other books cannot.

These ladies really get it!

This book should-WILL become a key resource for any woman (or man) who has recently been diagnosed with Breast cancer. It will also bring those who have lived with the disease in remission or hence eradicated, with a sense of comraderie that you rarely glimpse once you are "years out", as we say in the world of survivors. Anyone reading this collection of online dialogs will be able to relate to what is being said. Those who have "been there" will smile, laugh, cry and nod in agreement while reading through the hundreds of passages that have been included in this rich, compassionate and inspirational book. The author Ruth Peltason has also added her own notations peppered throughout, to share some of her own experience as a 2 time Breast Cancer survivor. These women GET IT! I believe this book will also aid those who have stood by watching helplessly as someone they love is effected by this horrendous disease. It allows others to see and feel what these women really went through. Buy this book for a friend, a co-worker, a loved one, or to share with a medical professional. The wisdom, the humor, the warmth that these women have shared online and now in book form is a personal journey that touches the soul. Highly Recommneded!

I have been using topical caffeine, carnatine melatonin and green tea extract for my male pattern baldness and senile alapecia as recommended by Dr. Martin in this book. I am 69 years old and I've been battling this problem for the past 10 years or more. My results with Dr. Martin's recommendation have been excellent. After four months, my hair is much thicker. I plan to use these products indefinitely since I am very fond of my hair and determined to keep it. I had a compounding pharmacist make these products for me.

I used Minoxidil for about a year but had to stop it because I became allergic to it.

Pain Relief for Pennies

I'm a nutritionist, and this quickly became one of the most important books in my library! I've used the recipes in the book to help friends and family members who are in pain, along with using it on myself, and it works *fabulously* well!!!

The problem with over-the-counter NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) like aspirin, Naproxen (Aleve) and Ibuprofen (Advil) is that with regular use, they often cause gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcerations, and/or perforations (with or without pain). If you were able to apply the above NSAIDs topically, you could totally avoid that problem ... which is exactly what I did when I made the pain-relief recipes in this book ... for just pennies!!!

I often tell my clients that whethere it's their nutrition or diet, "one size does not fit all." The same holds true for pain relief. What's incredibly cool about this book is that there are a *number* of approaches/solutions/recipes that can be tried. So if one recipe doesn't work to your liking, either try a different one or try adjusting the ingredient amounts. As an example, I found I got better (faster) pain relief when I increased the amount of Naproxen in the recipe.

Analgesic (pain relief) formulas are only one part of what is covered in the book. There are also some excellent recipes for men (and WOMEN!) suffering from hair loss, cold sores, and genital herpes.

The book is only about 38 pages long, but don't let that fool you. At 30 bucks, it's a steal!!!

When you're making pain relief formulas for yourself, please consider making extra and passing it out to friends and family who suffer from chronic pain. I can think of no greater gift or act of humanity. And if you find value in this book, consider supporting the site and man responsible for writing the book ... Stephen Martin and [...]

Dr. Martin shares his experience as a research scientist using natural approaches in dealing with pain and relieving degenerative diseases. This is a unique approach that really works. I've successfully applied the pain formulation and topical applications are very powerful, but it also makes logical sence, at least in my mind. I would recommend the book!

I bought this book for my little daughter when she was only 20 months old. Now, She is 4.5 yrs old and she still choses it among maybe 50 other books at least 2-3 times a week.
The story is fun with a great imagination and the illustration are so colorful and lovely. If I am to busy to sit down and read it to her, she just goes thru the pages and enjoys the pictures and the details in them.
She told me that she wanted to keep this book for her own children. I think I will get a new copy since this one shows that it was read and enjoyed many times.

My 4 year old and 18 month old daughters absolutely love this book. The images simply jump off the page and there is so much visually to take in that they are captivated. Each night before we go to bed, all three of us pick a book. My 4 year old never tires of the book and picks it each and every time. Her favorite part is when Toby's mother says she looks like a mermaid with all the crawdads, turtles and such in her hair. I'm here looking for more of Kim Fernandez's illustrated books and thought I'd offer my opinion.

Little Toby and the Big Hair is a delightful picture book about the hazards, adventures, and surprises of a girl with very long hair.

The story describes in rhyme how Toby, who wants to grow the longest hair in the world, deals with very real problems encountered by someone with long hair in a world of short haired people.

My favorite part of the book is the wonderful illustrations, which were made out of fimo and then photographed. The illustrations are masterpieces of art, capturing nuances of texture, patterns, and light, in a simple, but elegant style.

This kid gets a terrible hair cut and cannot face school with it. Aliens come and take him to the great barber Moog Moog. He tries to fix it but ends up making it worse. Not wanting to hurt his feelings, the boy tells a lie about how it really does look much better. Overall things work out despite the boys horrific hair.

This is a very good book. It has everything that it needs to keep a young reader interested. Elmo has a very great imagination. I think that kids that read this book will like that. Everything starts with a bad haircut, but it all turns out pretty good. There are some very unexpected things that happen. It is a very fun book to read. The pictures also are very good in helping you really imagine the story. I would defnitely recommend this story to all kids. That is why I gave this book 5 stars.

For Elmo, not much can brighten the prospect of starting school with a horrible hair cut, so he pulls on a stocking cap and hunkers down in front of the last-night-of-summer-space-monster-movie.

The rest of us luck out though, when some fellow green-headed aliens drop in for a drink and take Elmo off in search of the most famous barber in the galaxy.

This charming book has a witty text and beautiful illustrations. Such a pity it's out of print!

The book helped to explain everything that the analysis showed - it described my symptoms exactly. It was absolutely amazing. I recommend this book, and the services of Dr. Wilson to everyone.

I have another book by these authors, so when I saw this I bought it, and my friends at work and I have been laughing at it every day since. It's true what it says- it makes you feel better- it's total comic relief and smart & helpful at the same time like no other book I've seen. It's not just one of those other books that has stupid observations and really says nothing- it really addresses the need/problem you might have and provides a solution- even if it's tongue-in-cheek. This is great for an uplifting and fun gift, or even to keep at home or on your desk for a good boost during the dull work day- try it, you'll definitely " really feel better!"

I don't know who the ladies who wrote 'I love my hair!' are, but they sure know how to put a smile on your face. My girlfriends and I sat around all night reading the affirmations & exercises out loud to each other until we were falling out of our chairs laughing. Hadn't had that much fun in a while...definitely a recommended read & gift!

"Yellow Hair and Blue Eyes" celebrates overcoming what at times seems like impossible strikes against a person. Can a young person ever escape a beginning of abuse and neglect and dare hope to have a better life? Author G.L. Mason has created her own story of orphan in South Korea to adopted beloved child of an American family into what reads like a best selling novel...OUTSTANDING!

An Unforgettable Story

Review Date: 2004-09-26
Yellow Hair and Blue Eyes is one of those rare novels that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. G.L. Mason guides readers down a heart wrenching path of a small Korean Orphan that will touch your soul.

The story begins with Lee Parks, a young executive who is living in Korea and traveling on a city bus to a new job. Along the way he spies a basket placed in the middle of the road and convinces an indifferent bus driver to stop so he can retrieve it. Lee is aware that in this poverty stricken country that girl babies are often left to die in this manner and he is not surprised when he finds a small baby inside. Unsure of what to do with his newly acquired cargo he is told by another passenger about a hospital that might take the baby. With a strong sense of guilt Lee leaves the child at the hospital and this begins the tortured life of the half-breed girl, Soo-Jin.

The girl has two strikes against her from the beginning, first she is an orphan and second she is half Korean and half Japanese. With these two obstacles weighing around her neck the girl learns the meaning of pain, hunger and suffering early on in her life. But it seems that no matter how many obstacles are placed in the young child's path she always finds a way to endure. Soo-Jin is thrust into the evil world of Yi Shoo, an evil nanny at the orphanage she is placed in. The child is subject to inhuman treatment and her only salvation is Uni Choi, the daughter of a kind wealthy man, Han Choi who purchases the orphanage. The trials and tribulations of this small forgotten angel create an unforgettable story of hope and dismay. The courage of this girl is spellbinding as she fights to survive in the hell she is forced to live in clinging to the hope that one day she will be adopted by an American with Yellow hair and Blue eyes.

G.L. Mason is one of those unique storytellers that are able to invade the imagination and hearts of their readers. Mason's talents have no boundaries and I was given a rare entrance into the mind of a brilliant writer. I recommend that everyone take the opportunity to read this treasure and allow themselves to delve into the bittersweet emotions that this story invokes.

Thank you, Mason, for sharing with me your unique gifts in an unforgettable story that has truly touched my heart. I look forward to reading many more of your creative novels.

This book is wonderfully complete. Mr. Keller gives both the "big picture" as well as the necessary details.

For beginners, there are more recipes than you could hope for - and not just variations of a few basic recipes. He truly delivers with a rich collection of beauty, hair and skin care recipes.

For those a little more daring, the book provides a nice balance of background and theory. I feel confident experimenting with my own recipes now, and can knowledgably create the product I intend. (As opposed to wasting money on lots of surprises and/or disappointments.)

I only wish I'd found this book before the last half dozen or so books I purchased on natural cosmetics and essential oils.

I recommend this book to anyone who is or would like to craft(make) there own natural beauty care items and perfumes. This book contains a good foundation aromatheray uses of the EO and EO blends. It eazy to understand for the beginner. Yet, I belive it is a book you will use as a referance for years to come. I know I will.
