Chris's voice is very pleasant to listen to. His material is presented in layman terms so a cheechocko listener can follow, learn, and benefit. And become knowledgeable and profficient in tapping and using the tremendous power Chris presents you with the key to.

Would have been better as a book

I was looking for a meditation tape and I bought this one. I was disappointed because there was no background music or pauses during the medidation exercises. I had to retape the exercises and include the pauses myself. If you are looking for information in an audiobook format, this would probably be ok.

May be right for you, depending on your level of knowledge

This is a good basic primer on Kundalini, the human energy system, and meditation. I disagree with the previous reviewer's comments regarding Chris Kilham's voice being "soothing." While his voice is not grating, it is far from soothing, particularly when you consider that the pace of the tape moves along at a rather quick rate. (I get the feeling that they had more material than would fit on one tape, and so the pace is a tad rushed). Still, I feel that this is a good tape overall, and well worth the money, particularly if you're fairly new to the subject.

My main complaint with this author is that he takes 10 pages to say a paragraph. The read is so tiresome that reading this author becomes very unpleasant. For every technique, you learn, you must deal with 10-15 pages of airy-fairy fluff. I would recomend some of the other authors whom are much more direct, and not trying to sell endless courses and books.

Chia's best

Not to deny what's written below, but this book is the most comprehensive in the Chia library. At a certain point, the extra detail is nice to have. Learning a massage system from a book is nigh impossible, but the wealth of information in this book is unmatched by any of Chia's other books (many of which are quite good). If I could only have two of MC's books (and I've read them all), it would be this one and Bone Marrow Nei Kung.

Unique System of Massage

Review Date: 2003-04-08
I have yet to find another source on this type of massage system. The Chi Lei system is different from other massage system in the sense that it works directly with the organs, detoxifying them through massage. Mantak Chia book on the topic is comprehensive, detailed and clear enough to be read. However some of the massage techniques are to difficult to convey in a book and it will be helpful to learn on video. I gave the book a 4 star instead of a 5 because the illustrations are sometimes not clear. The book should have used photographs to show some techniques and points.

How ancient Chinese music is related to human organs
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2001-07-04
Musical Qigong is a special healing energy therapy which combines the two ancient Chinese traditions of healing music and Qigong. Master Shen Wu (founder of musical Qigong and director of the Chinese Traditional Medical Institute) draws upon his more than twenty years of Qigong medical practice in China and America to focus on the five major organs of the body and how the use of musical Qigong enlivens the mind, relaxes the body, and lifts the spirt. There are two complete sets of photographically illustrated exercises, as well as a full and complete explanation of how musical Qigong is related to acupuncture, tai chi, feng shui; how ancient Chinese music is related to human organs; and how to perform Qigong in the most authentic way. Musical Qigong is highly recommended to students of Chinese medicine and metaphysics, as well as practitioners of alternative medicine.

This book is written in a very simplistic and self-congratulatory manner, like advertising copy. Although photos of body postures are given, no music is written out, and the student is directed to purchase his audio tapes or CD's, with a $100 price tag for the set.

Ancient Secrets That Work

Highest regards to Master Wu's book, "Musical Qigong". It is an expectional work of art. Much like the man himself. The book is filled with Truth; and contains an energy of love so intense that the reader cannot help but be influenced by it. My life personally has been transformed by knowing Master Wu and by learning of the Ancient Teachings and the wisdom that he has acquired. Which he shares so adequately throughout the book. Through learning and practing the Qigong techniques, many people have found healing from diseases which plagued their physical body, as well as attaining a more peaceful state of mind. (myself included) I have read other Qigong books but none have come close to the Pure Knowlege and Inherent Wisdom that this book holds. Master Wu is a true Master. And that alone, speaks for itself. As does the book. Musical Qigong will change your life 'if' you read it with an open mind and apply the exercises with a honest heart. In 'Musical Qigong' Master Shen Wu gives to the world the opportunity to gather the peace and harmony, the love, the tranquility of mind, and the longevity of life that we all aspire to have. Highest Regards to all that are led to this book. A greater find will not cross your desk in many years to come. This one is written with the intent of opening the doors of old and bringing the light into the new pathway, that all may find health, happiness and wholeness. This book is truly a gift to mankind.

Nice Little Reiki Overview

Review Date: 2003-08-05
This is a very small book that packs in a lot of information and ideas about Reiki, while including a good amount of color photos. This book is not comprehensive, but is intended to be a good overview of what Reiki is and how you can learn this practice. This is a valuable text for those new to Reiki and looking for an inexpensive book about Reiki that is easy to carry with you.

Review Date: 2002-08-14
I think that this book serves as a very good and encompasing overview of Reiki. It does not mention a specific Reiki, but it covers all areas of Reiki. It covers from what Reiki is, how to use it, how the levels of Reiki differ, healthy lifestyle, healthy food recommendations and 27 hand positions and their significance. I have more Reiki books, and this is Reiki in a nutshell. Very colourfull pictures on everything it says, and shows pictures to further the explanation. This book is a healthy 4 starts.

Confusing Reiki

The Book is good only for and education but not for Reiki practition. Because in this book describe reiki in very general Review. In this book doesn't specify which reiki she will describe Western Reiki or Eastern Reiki. All the message in the book are mixed up and for the Reiki Pactitioner will confuse when read it. Is it OK for the common people , but after they know the truth about Reiki , they will whats right and whats wrong.
For The technique & illustration , I will give 4 star
But the review to shortly , people must have to read another book.

Reiki Healing Amplified!

Review Date: 2006-08-31
The Purpose of These Exercises is to use Reiki in the Advanced Practice of Connecting with Power Animal Totems. These Power Animal Totems are Living Embodiments of Wisdom and Ability. Each Animal Totem holds different Secrets, Revelations, and Energies which may be called upon Instantly - to support our Reiki Healing Work. Working with these Beings is not a standard part of Reiki, but has been a very meaningful practice for me that has proven its value many times over. This is an additional way to use the Reiki Energy to Expand Your Abilities. - Looking Toward The Future, and The Importance of This Practice - I strongly feel that this practice and others like it are the next step necessary to Expand our Potentials for Healing, Connecting, and Integration. In each Moment of our Reiki Practice - we are given the opportunity to let go of our Limitations, and this process is the Adventure of a Lifetime!

Instructions on making these connections are given, along with advanced concepts in making the very most of this work together. And, the graphics are awesome for meditations with the Power Animals!

Please, take my words; DO NOT waste your money in this book. There is only few page information, others just blank pages for you to write the note and records. It's not worth to buy a book of blank notes for $18.00. There are total 83 pages in this book, only 12 pages have few paragraphs in words; others are blank notes!!

Glorified Reiki I Manual
Helpful Votes: 21 out of 22 total.
Review Date: 2000-08-08
I bought this book with the hope that it would tell me how certain stones would enhance Reiki treatments or maybe how they would function in a Reiki Grid. I think what I'm trying to say is that I was expecting a catalogue of stones and what they do with Reiki specifically, along with descriptions and illustrations of specialized layouts that would enhance healing with Reiki by merging them with gemstone vibrations. Whoops!

First off, the author tells you that certain stones act certain ways depending upon how they are shaped and if they have been altered from the natural state, i.e. faceted, carbocon-cut, tumbled, etc. Sometimes the shape *does* have an effect if the cut enhances the stone such as rfaceting bringin more light into a stone, or if it is in a sacred shape such as a pyramid, but from experience it has little to no effect. She says NOTHING about the gem quality of a stone affecting its vibration and seems to think the size of the stone matters, which I have found not to be the case.

I'd say 1/3 of the book is the standard Reiki I hand position manual, indeed, an abridged Reiki I manual, and added because she wanted to make the book longer. No where, except for in a customer review was there even a hint that this book was for beginning Reiki practitioners. Personally, I think enough books have covered Reiki I positions well enough already and to add it to this one was too much.

There was a bit of new information (for me, at least) on the layouts and descriptions of 7 of the same gemstone, one on each major Kundalini Chakra: 7 Garnets, 7 Carnelians, 7 Citrines, 7 Rutilated Quartz, 7 Pieces of Amber, 7 Chrysoprase pieces, 7 Rose Quartz, 7 Chalcedonies, 7 Aquamarines, 7 Lapis, 7 Amethysts, and 7 Clear Quartz. Those sections had a paragraph of what the stones were to do in each energy center. And it did give the optimal positions for the stones' energies to affect each Chakra.

All in all I was very disappointed with this book, which I had set very high hopes on. However, if you are a Reiki I and/or a beginner at Laying on of Stones, this book might be of some help to you. If you're Reiki II or III, do yourself a favor and look at books which are purely for Laying on of Stones.

A very good book for beginners!

If you have read any other text on Sexual cultivation don't even bother with this book. While there is some useful information in it some of it is strait up incorrect. I believe this book was ghost written by a third grade student in the Florida public school system. Dont waste your time or be fooled by other buyers who failed to read the book before writing a review, keep looking.

The information in this book is very worth the price. The Deer excersises for male & female are detailed better than I have seen before (although they could be a little more specific). The Deer excercises are like a Taoist "pre-kundalini" type warmup that are decent. ...The information may be too foreign for one who has not yet read similar material, but it is a gem in english and I highly recommend it.

The information in this book is very worth the price. The Deer excersises for male & female are detailed better than I have seen before (although they could be a little more specific). The Deer excercises are like a Taoist "pre-kundalini" type warmup that are decent. I feel the energy going to my brain when I do it and the tips regarding sexual activities are very interesting. I recommend this book after one has read "TSFR: Taoist sexual fitness regiment" by Bruce Wong and "The Complete Book of Chinese Health and Healing" + "Tao of Health, Sex & Logevity" by Daniel Reid and "Cultivating Male Sexual Energy" + "Cultivating Female sexual energy" by Mantak Chia

This book has a variety of applications of heat and light for healing, many anecdotal, including human and veterinary uses. The plus is that it is based on personal experience, the minus is that it sometimes feels odd ball and hearsay, and I would have liked more in the way of scientific support. The book is part of my exploration of laser and infra-red healing and is a bit eccentric.

Amazing content throughout the entire book!

This is a very unique book that has some Qigong information that I haven't seen anywhere else. It focuses on combining several treatment modalities that have a synergistic effect that increases the speed and quality of the healing for many different problems. Much better than hearing about how this one thing is the very best or that one thing is the best. It's a combination of several things that work really well alone and they work even better when combined in the specific way this book talks about. This book has some incredible case histories that you just have to read for yourself. I have experienced the results on myself and can say first hand how easy, safe and effective it is.

I had to re-wind a few sections to get down the instructions for the qigong exercises right. It may be better if there was a diagram to show what you should really be doing. Not for the audio-impaired learner or for the visual-learner, but it is quite interesting and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it! It might just be easier to practice yoga or go to the gym to energize your body, but I believe activating your qi is far more beneficial, provided that you're able to follow the instructions and don't fall asleep while listening to the tape.

Inconsistent with some misinformation

I would like to preface this review by highlighting that this book really encompasses much of the system of Reiki in its infancy after Takata's passing. The author did personally meet with Takata-sensei, and there is a wonderful retelling of the myth of Usui-sensei's discovery of Reiki. although it perpetuates the historical inaccuracies, it helps awaken the reader to the essence of Reiki as a system of personal growth and healing.

These points aside, I would not consider this required reading for most Reiki practitioners. It is one of the earlier books published, so it is great for historical value. Still, some factors detract from its helpfulness. The largest and most distracting error countenanced by the writing is the inclusion of the Chinese characters for the equivalent of "rei" and "ki." The author misrepresents them as the Japanese meaning Reiki, where in fact it is modern Chinese for "ling qi." The energy of the kanji themselves is important to describing the qualities of the system of Reiki, but the "ling qi" characters do not convey this.

Also, much of the end of the book is a sales pitch for taking your classes with the author for rather high prices as you ascend through the levels of the system. I personally would not feel comfortable taking a class from someone who didn't recognise that her characters were not the right ones for the very name of the system.

I do have mixed feelings about this work. It has been rereleased in a newer and expanded format for its twentieth anniversary, and it may be worthwhile to leaf through this version to see if it has any corrections and some other great information.
