If you had the power to heal soreness, aches, pains, emotional distress, or any other problems while healing yourself, would you do it? There are no adverse effects to you as the healer/healed; actually you benefit from just being aware.

I will admit I was very skeptical while reviewing The Secret of Instant Healing; in the beginning. As I followed the step by step exercises to finding pure awareness and Quantum Entrainment; as well as completing the little tests Mr. Kinslow introduces, I quickly became a believer! I could focus my energy on my middle finger and it actually appeared to grow longer than the one on my opposite hand. Thank goodness it went back to normal!

This book is a step by step guide on awakening the inner awareness inside of you; with a little humor here and there. You can learn how to heal without medicines, acupuncture, or old family remedies; just by using your mind and energy within your body or the body of the person you are healing at that time.

The Secret of Instant Healing by Frank J. Kinslow is a strangely true book that I will re-read and follow more closely so that I can always be aware and keep my skills honed in the instance that they are needed. I felt like Mr. Kinslow was sitting right next to me talking as a friend with his silly comments thrown in and the natural way the words seemed to flow. A truly enjoyable and informative read that will open your eyes and your awareness. 4 Hearts

Review Date: 2003-11-09
Level one Reiki by the traditional approach can be an expensive process involving countless hours of instruction. Ms. Milford offers a comprehensive manual for Level One preparation in this book. Readers who wish to pursue Reiki by the traditional approach will probably find no better book than this one for doing so. A Reiki Master will ultimately be required for the attunement, however, and because of the various training / attunement structures built into the programs of many Reiki Masters the book might only be a supplement to another training program. On the other hand, anyone wishing to pursue Reiki can do no wrong by following the traditional approach through a manual such as this one, then finding a non-Traditional Reiki Master to do the attunements and thereby save considerable time and money.

I'd recommend this book as one of several for anyone beginning a Reiki training program.

When I really look at my self and others whose life is one train wreck after another, this book explained it perfectly. I now understand addictions, divorce and disagreeable people both outside my window and in my mirror. The negative comments about this book are from people who need their victim-hood to explain their bad behaviors/poor choices/bad luck etc. and are not ready to take responsibility for themselves and therefore, they bad mouth this book and other attempts to heal.
I have bought many copies of this book and given it to some folks that need it the most. To date, the ones that need this info the most throw the book at me. I should not be surprised but I will keep trying to help them heal.
Keep the faith!

I am forced into the uncomfortable position of defending Ms Myss. No, I don't call her Dr. Myss, for reasons others have amply stated. Until I see her dissertation listed on Dissertation Abstracts International, she's no 'Ph.D.' to me! I also must admit that I have listened to a few of her audio programs, and while I agree with some of her ire directed toward the New Age quackery--love spells and candlelighting and stuff like that--she has come across as a bit arrogant and abrasive--two traits I myself share, so I know whereof I speak. She's kind of a jerk. But so's Dr. Phil. Is it because she's a *woman* we get so uptight that she's not 'nice' enough?

However. (Deep sigh). I don't know about many of the negative reviewers here, but I work in a field where I come in contact with a lot of people and as much as you might not want to hear it, woundology is real and is more damaging than you think. I know people who have literally reduced themselves to one-dimensional caricatures of what were once human beings: one of them has become almost the archetype Vietnam Vet; another is the sexual abuse victim; another, the bitter divorced man who hates women. We all have problems in life. We all have faced, if not in childhood than at some point, absolutely heartrending loss and bad things. All of us. I might not have had the same trauma as you, but I've had something rotten happen in my life. I ain't gonna play my damage is bigger than yours, and if anyone responds to this review by telling me I haven't 'suffered', well, let me just say, you have NOOOOO idea what you're talking about and leave it at that. Troubles, I gots plenty, as the song used to go.

It's the human condition. But to turn those bad things into the core of your identity, why, anyone can see that that's not healthy. Turning your trauma into Who You Are first of all constantly feeds that trauma. When that's your identity, every single day, every single time you refer to yourself as an incest survivor or war veteran or cancer survivor, you are revictimizing *yourself*, reaffirming that experience to be more powerful than *you*. Secondly, you get stuck in that identity. YOu can't grow if you remain so invested in one identity that you refuse to change.

What Myss said in this book that so offends people is by and large taken out of context. What she's trying to say, and I'll admit she doesn't say it as nicely as she could have, is that many times people have an ego-investment in keeping a hold on their wound. One might use it to manipulate others--feel sorry for me! My life has been so terrible!--or one might use one's wound to turn one's back on life and the causes of the problem by escaping into what we all must admit by now is the HUGE and apparently quite lucrative industry of therapy and support groups and self-help. One can bury oneself so deep in spiritual readings and support groups and this and that that one never actually gets to deal with the real life manifestations of the issue.

That is not to say that therapy is not useful. It is immensely useful for some (never had much use for it myself, but I've seen it really help a number of people), but the point is therapy works in your head. Unfortunately, sooner or later, one has to get out of one's head and into the real world, and maybe come face to face with the abuser, or the doctor with the bad news, or the broken family, or whatever was the proximal cause of the wound. Sooner or later, you have to deal with external reality. It's unpleasant to realize how one may have let a persona rule one's identity, or how it's made one do unskillful or hurtful things to others, but it's part of the process of waking up.

My drill sergeant had an old saying that came to mind as I was reading the more foaming-at-the-mouth of these reviews. He'd say, "Throw a shoe into a pack of dogs, and the one that yelps is the one that got hit."

glancing through this creepy book, I came to the chapter about a woman who broke her leg and wouldnt move for three months, enjoying being an invalid and weary of being a housekeeper and cook to her husband and children.
Her husband was furious and refused to cook or clean . he didnt want her to have time off to heal. he was even considering divorcing her but couldnt afford to.
Now let me say this. three months off your feet for a broken leg is a fair and reasonable amount of time.
you see I seriously broke my foot a few weeks ago and tore the ligaments/I had surgery to put a metal plate in because of the ligaments. My surgeon told me stay off your right leg- no weight for 2 months.
Does carolyn want this woman to be a cripple from not taking care of herself?
The husband was obviously selfish and didnt get that it was important for the wife to relax and heal.
Ms Myss called her a lazy queen and told him to take away her television set. He never called back.Probably because his wife divorced him for his meaness.
she had no business giving any advice, but her advice was punitive.
She should have consulted a doctor and asked about healing and bones.
She should have had empathy for the woman being overwelhmed with housework and having had to break her own leg to create space to relax.
She should have suggested he hire a cleaning service or do loving things so that she felt safe enough to come back on her job.
Frankly-this Myss woman is the worst ever.

I am so glad that others find Myss harsh and a not a true healer. It is funny ( not) how fake healers like herself put themselves in a position to be around those who feel wounded ( god I hate that word) and then destroy them a little more.
I suggest everyone avoid healers because going to them automatically puts one in the "damaged Victim catogory ) it is a horrible place to be. We all need to know we are valid and decent and heroic and have the right to weep or be human.
Going to these people , with their fancy seminars in out of the way places, just re-creates being one-down.
So we never get it all together. so what?

the underpinning of caroline myss's growing opus is that we will not heal until we start to take responsibility for our actions and emotional lives. I don't think anyone would argue with that, but it's hard to see her other points as anything but a passive aggressive reaction to other people's hardships. it seems like she has become frustrated with so many people expecting her to solve their problems. her two many theses, that we need to stop seeing ourselves as victims and, more recently, that we are all instances of various archetypes, seem like fanciful, mystical-ized version of two basic complaints that someone who spends a lot of time on lecture tours might have: "you people need to stop whining! don't you realize you're all the same anyway?"

Caroline Myss has done little more than take these two observations, along with the other, not terribly stunning realization that a lot of people profit off their misfortune, and dressed it up in a lot of spiritual hocus pocus. then she uses these ideas as a vehicle for self-promotion and as an excuse to insult people, using the fact that this information is "divinely inspired" as an excuse.

maybe some people do respond negatively to her accusations because they cling to their wounds, but others may do so for a simpler reason: because her point of view is deeply insulting.

Myss talks a lot about self-respect, but what does that mean coming from someone who claims to have used her psychic powers to diagnose thousands of illnesses, but who offers no documented evidence to support that claim? from someone who makes a living from the unhappiness of others while accusing them of profiting off their own wounds? who puts Ph.D after her name, when her degree was conferred by a non-accredited correspondence school?

the one good thing I have to say about Caroline Myss is that her work is intelligent and will get you thinking about your emotions in new ways. but it's hard to see her as anything other than a charlatan and a profiteer, at least until she comes forward with some hard evidence to support her supposed mystical abilities. incidentally, the prognostication that she begins the audio version of this book with (that being a medical intuitive will not be an unusual occupation in ten years) has clearly not come to pass.

This is a good book to read. It will not tell you everything you want/need to know about everything dealing with the chakras etc., but you can't complete a journey such as this by reading 1 book.

This is more of a general guide on how to understand the process of what some may be going through if they released kundalini (accidental or not)

There are other books on the subject, but none so filled with this much information as this one.

It also explains what the kundalini is and how to work with it.

As a Druid High Priestess leading a large circle and running PsychicSpellCaster.com, I have researched many references on the topics that are covered in this book. I know what is very important to know about these topics if a person wants to apply them to life. This book has these important high lights. It is a regular sized book, but covers what is needed..... Opening your personal kundelini should not be taken lightly- heed this book's warning of 'taking things slow'.

I strongly recommend this as an additional guide for anyone giving or receiving Reiki attunements. Many people have adverse effects from the attunement process; this book provides exercises helpful with preparation as well as after-effects. Another excellent resource provided by Paulson is the series of detailed tables on the chakra system at multiple levels (soul, physical body, etc.) and corresponding symptoms to issues with each chakra.

this book didn't tell me anything I didn't already know from doing a little research on the web. It's just like the 'natural cures' book... you get it and inside it's just a big advertisement trying to get you to buy more... buy more. Try going to your local bookstore and ordering it from them. When they call you to pick it up just tell them you want to thumb through it first and make your decision from there. I mean unless you have piles of cash to burn. You don't need any flippin tachyon disks. Just start investing in some personal development. DO something and stop reading about it or buying things to do it for you. Invest in yourself. You'll never go wrong there.

If you're avoiding the essentials, you'll try anything.

Drink only pure, unfluorided water, eat only whole fresh raw fruits and vegetables, exercise every day, get some morning or late afternoon sun everyday, and get enough sleep and rest. If this doesn't help, -then- start looking for the wierdo cures if you must, but nothing will undo the problems of the Modern Western Lifestyle except no longer living the MWL. I think Gabe must have been fasting a little too long when he wrote this book. Fantasy. To those who testify here on behalf of Tachyon products: I've happened upon a few 'Tachyonized' items, and gave them a try...nothing happened. Your results are the exception, not the rule.

I think a tachyon exists, and I am excited about the idea, but there is no evidence of a patent on Tachyonization Process, and no evicende that the aura pictures are even real. If the technology worked, there would be a patent for it, the FDA would make them do trials, and it would take a year to get it onto shelves and into hospitals. Here's a pet rock that's an antenna for Tachyonized energy--someone's got to do the proof. I do not recommend Tachyonized products--especially the 15 drops of Tachyonized Water (from sugar).

If you are interested in energy healing and all of that - wonderful. I am too. After having studied at Barbara Brennan School, I was curious about tachyon crystals. When initially installed in the room - at the four corners - the feeling was almost giddy. But quickly my heart chakra closed up and I was unable to expand. The crystals created a sort of prison. I am very worried about this technology becoming prevalent. It is not hocus-pocus. It does have an affect. In some situations it may be healing. However, please note that this is not something to use if you are a seeker, or if you are spiritual in any way. This creates an energetic PRISON! You are much better off to use naturally created (grown from the earth) crystals that have not been "infused" with anything!!!

Its like so often in "real" life - some dude has an insight and doesn't get it that he does not need to bend science and common sense in order to construct a new world-view (or, in this case almost a religion with the inventor as the savior) around it. I have used "tachyon" products - they work for selected issues (mostly muscle and tendon problems). Truth is, nobody knows on what principle this stuff works - but rather than being honest and admitting it a hair-raising new world-view is invented with quotes from "real" science to support it not only out of context but also WRONG. The latest I have heard is that Mr. Wagner, the top honcho, has now become a professor in his self-made university (no joke, check his website!). I was personaly witness of Wagner's dishonesty on more than one occasion and can only suggest to stay away from him. This book contains no valuable information whatsoever.

Dr. John Mumford manages to give clear techniques for both advanced and beginner students in this book. With his backround knowledge in psychology he introduces yoga and its philosophy to a westerner like never before. I think that the book is under-rated here. However, importance lies down in actual practice and a serious student can see progress when he applies 12 week program. I recommend it to anyone who is a practitioner not a collector.

Relaxation is key to all life's problems

Why five stars? Simple. This book is simple. It is straight foward, easy to use, and safe. Why, after all that has been said, do I claim this book is safe? There is only one chapter on kundalini activation, and it is only in an indirect fashion, that activation occurs. The book focusses on sitting and relaxation techniques. The emphasis is on attentive awareness, cultivated to the point of concentration. There are no techniques in the entire book which would produce any explosive psychic reactions. Taking the alarmist position can be remedied with a perview of antero alli's angel tech, the article on kundalini crackups is particularly enlightening. The main exercise involving the kundalini is the solar plexus charging technique, by which the practitioner concentrates on an internally generated heat until absorbsion of the bodymind process saturates awareness with heat. This experience of laya is an indirect experience of the kundalini energy, centered in the manipura chakra, the center of balance and equilibrium. I suggest starting with chapter one, use the chakra meditation from magical tattwas, or the suhum gayatri from death and dying. Do it fourteen days before moving on. You don't need them to achieve progress however, remember the technique is the goal. Achieving relaxation and self-mastery are in fact noble goals we should all hope to attain in our lifetime, I believe.

Essential guide for healers is the most concise and precise work to date regarding The Healing Arts. Before deciding to enter this skill those considering should listen to this workshop as it is a calling and requires more than meets the eye.Over the past decade plus, many people are jumping into this arena completely unprepared and unaware of the consequences and responsibilities that come with the healing artsCaroline puts it in very clear terms and I tip my hat to her for all of the detailed information and wisdom she shares in this workshop.I have found so many people that want to jump into this area completely uninformed just to be able to say that they are healers, people with no self worth and no learned skill, just a quick rushed attunement and a certificate. you know, the ones who are willing to "heal others" but not themselves so sad,but true. For the ignorance of being in the ego serves nobody. You have your serious people who truly want to answer the call to take on such a BIG responsibility that are being watered down and catergorized due to inadequately trained "healers"...It is a calling,A true calling and one must be prepared in every aspect and in every way of this skill before diving in uneducated.
I also agree with Caroline on the bartering system,as i've stated so many times to others-it is a favor not an even exchange of energy. And what is with the "healers" who claim this their profession and then refuse to place a price or accept money for their skill, time, effort? To be in this art or any spiritual art does not preclude to poverty!!Not by any means whatsoever.
Discernment in many areas appears to be a serious problem in this art,Yes,Art/skill..I say this as we humans are skilled and learned in this once we are called to work for the Divine and accept this calling,we are not the actual energy but only the vessel that channels the energy, unlike those who claim it is physical self who does the "healing".This is not a beginners guide as somebody stated,it is an incredible audio guide for all interested in the healing arts no matter how long or short a time one has been in this field. And Caroline does not limit this workshop to just Reiki practitioners/Teachers, or laying on of hands energy work she expounds on all levels and areas of life both spiritual and physical.
It is my opinion upon reading the few negative reviews and having been in this art for 17+ yrs that those who are whining and knocking Caroline are the ones who have no business in this art-they are seeing themselves and their lack through her wisdom, therefore they are projecting themselves onto her! Some just cannot face their true selves or their motives, just attune me and show me the money attitude.Ha!Wake up people~This Art is NOT for everyone.
Here are the highlights/topics to give the reviewer an idea of what to expect from each disc;

Disc 1-The archetype of the Healer- explores Why we need a guide for healers- the Archetype of the healer in the Western world: Addresses topics such as Healers as spiritual midwives, The myth of the wounded healer,Becoming a worthy vessel for healing-The power of anonimity, How do you know if you are called to be a healer, and Knowing your own motivations.

Disc 2-The shadow side of the healer- explores The importance of looking at yourself honestly, "The Shadow side of the healer": Topics such as "It's a shadow perspective to see disease as an enemy",Picking up and carrying other peoples energy,Compassionate detachment- "Offering your best without attachment to the outcome", "Symptoms of psychic burn-out" (important for most healers), "The suffering healer.

Disc 3-Healthy Self Esteem and the Art of Healing- explores Self Esteem IS the most significant power in human experience,Self esteem is something you can earn,Everything depends on your wiring and motivation,Intuitive clarity and self esteem,Two levels of personal intuition-survival intuition and conscious intuition;revelation,Do you listen to your own intuition,Pangs of conscience,The difference between an ordinary healer and an extraordinary healer.

Disc 4- explores Advice for the developing healer, What type of healer are you?, Spirituality, money, gender, and right livelihood",Engaging in the world with interior strength, Psychic boundaries, The role of the healer in the larger world... and more.
Run time 5 hrs.
As you can see there is a lot of pertinent information in this workshop. This is a definite must have for all healers. My highest recommendation if there is only one set that you can buy and are considering The Healing Arts this is it!
If I appear harsh it is due to the seriousness with which I take this Art/skill,and those who do not belong in this arena, but are looking for a quick financial fix & Ego boost!
Kudos Caroline!
My Greatest Teachers in life were the ones who appeared to be the toughest! They were the Best!

I typically enjoy Myss' work. This one stung a little I must say. She almost seemed angry at parts, but she regained her composure by realligning her chakras. *whew* Seriously, she has a strong opinion about "healers" and everyone else who is just a wanna-be. I did benefit and recieved valuable information about my craft as well as the person I am and want to grow to be. She definetly makes you look deep with in yourself and ask some serious questions, along with knocking anyone and everyone from their high horse. My horse thanks you Ms. Myss. This CD is VERY important for healers, many people go into the healing profession, ungrounded searching for proof of their own "specialness" Caroline is quick to deflate this notion. We are all gifted in our own ways, some as healers some not. The vocational draw that is ego driven- is not of service to others. Caroline Myss provides practical advice, myth debunking and drives people to be introspective. An essential componenet to those in the healing world. Those who are introspective, have ego strength and boundries will appreciate this compilation. If you are searching for a path to those qualities this is the CD for you. She is an honest and grounded speaker, much needed in the new age realm.

With a title claiming "Essential Guide for Healers", and having high regard for some of her other works, I was excited to hear this set. I was expecting a positive, motivational, educational, enlightening experience - instead, I was weighed down with her seriously negative attitued about what healing artists other than herself were bringing to the world. It was painful, but I listened to the entire 4 discs, waiting for some of the kinds of gems that have come from her other works. The 3rd and 4th discs were somewhat less negative than the first two, but disappointing is the best one word review for this work. Wasted money - I don't even feel good about passing it along to anyone else.
