Great conversation starters and can be used for a daily reminder of God's desire for us to be healed.

Journey Towards Empowerment and Well-Being
Helpful Votes: 21 out of 21 total.
Review Date: 2005-07-12
"Healing is more than confronting the challenge of an illness. The wise approach is to realize that it's a lifestyle requiring constant attention to the well-being of your mind, body and spirit. Of all the many factors that healing and living a healthy life require, becoming an empowered individual is the most important. That's also the most difficult." - Caroline Myss

According to medical intuitive and spiritual teacher Caroline Myss, personal empowerment first begins with the choices we make. Even small choices can have strong energetic reverberations that echo through both our bodies and our lives. In fact, she asserts that even one positive action can create an entirely new life.

Crises such as illness, loss, and heartbreak often force us to begin the journey of personal empowerment. In the throes of such difficulty, knowing where and how to begin this quest can be a daunting task.

With the Wisdom for Healing Cards, Myss provides 50 different lessons to help individuals ascertain personal energy levels and movement. In addition, her wisdom encourages body awareness, emotional self-examination, and spiritual connection to God.

Myss' approach is a proactive one, with each card focusing on a specific lesson and goal. For example, in the card titled "Notice That Special Person", the lesson says:

"On this day, take notice of someone whom you've previously ignored. That person is your teacher, your special angel, and he or she will do or say something you've been waiting for, just because you're recognizing the beauty of his or her spirit. Your goal: to see that everyone is capable of helping you heal, and vice versa."

The Wisdom for Healing Cards features the gorgeous, vibrant art of Janice Fried, the same artist who illustrated the Archetypes Cards and the other Healing Cards deck by Myss. Each glossy card has a colorful image on one side, and a lesson/goal on the other. Some of the themes include:

* Release the Need to Complain
* Observe Your Attitude
* Be Mindful of Conflict
* Recognize Your First Thought
* Eat Healthful
* Relinquish Control
* See the Synchronicity

I was feeling unwell last night, and decided to draw a card to see if the Wisdom for Healing Cards would "speak" to me. I ended up drawing "Enhance Your Physical Health" which admonished:

"Think about how you view yourself as a physical being. Do you perceive yourself as weak or strong? Do you tend to make excuses for why you're not proactive in your healing when you see what can and should be done? Your goal: to initiate one positive action in your life to enhance your physical health."

In my case, I knew *immediately* that card referred to drinking more water-something I've received Guidance to do, but have neglected.

Intended for repeated use, this beautiful deck will help you uncover the layers of buried emotion, tap into intuitive Guidance, and make the necessary changes for empowerment and overall well-being.

In the day to day rush to be and do everything, oftentimes our thoughts are scattered and don't readily come into focus.

These cards, used singly or in multiples, help us focus our thoughts toward the healing empowerment we all possess.

Reminders to "release unproductive habits", "bring humor to everything", "use your wisdom" and "recognize the quality of information you feed your mind each day" - these are all golden nuggets contained within these cards. Just simple but powerful reminders to help us focus and become wiser - and more healthy !!

Great Companion book.. this workbook could stand alone

I love this workbook, even though I didn't care much for the actual book it is a Companion of. There isn't anything really new in this workbook, but I did find a condensed version of information much better then her style of writting in the actual book. This workbook could stand alone, it has all the information needed, it includes all the meditations and journaling questions found in her book. I would recommend this workbook to someone- but that person should also read other Authors books, to see what meshes well with them. I found I took some of her knowledge in, and left alot out of my personal beliefs.

Life - changing insights to entrenched problems...
Helpful Votes: 30 out of 31 total.
Review Date: 2004-05-21
In this book `spirituality' is presented in a most practical and accessible style. Dr Davies writes with such clarity and simplicity and yet with humility and compassion.

An extraordinary wide vista of knowledge is traversed succinctly and lightly but with the rigour and solidity of a medical and psychiatry background. But it is Brenda `s clear and easy to understand framework and contextualisation of practical life `issues' within the context of the charkas or healing centres that is most amazing. The issues covered are vast - from abundance and self esteem to the frustrations of uncovered potential.

A must read for anyone who wishes to gain insights to old entrenched patterns...this book will truly present a fresh way of looking at `issues' and present roadmaps to self healing and discovery.

The structure of the handbook is such that you can either do a quick scan if there is a very particular issue you want to uncover or pause at various places and do some in depth work.

For me personally in my current work it really helped me to understand behaviours and dynamics in workplaces of my own and others - which were not being solved at the level of management development and training interventions.

Go see for yourself......

Ayurveda Wisdom
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-10-09
We all know that there is a very real connection between the food we eat and the way we feel. At times, we try to eat right and get some exercise. Then we watch the news and find out that that there is a new super food or what we thought was nutritious has suddenly been linked to cancer increases. It's confusing to say the least.

I recently became interested in Ayurveda. These ancient principles suggest that different foods act in particular ways to return our bodies to our normal balance. Balance for each person is unique based upon our physical and mental constitution or dosha. A simple survey asks questions about physical characteristics, emotional reactions, personality traits, digestion issues, etc. These results indicate which of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) is most prevalent and if there are any dosha combination concerns.

Using this information, and the wisdom set out in Ayurveda Wisdom, the reader learns to be aware of changes in emotional behavior and physical reactions that suggest that imbalances are occurring. Particular foods, according to type of taste (sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, or astringent), can then be used to rebalance the system.

With this information, I am learning to listen to my body and recognize when I'm in trouble. Instead of heading straight for those sweets, fast food, or other junk food, I am beginning to see the patterns. I've noticed when I feed my body what it needs, I don't crave the junk and I don't feel as anxious or overwhelmed.

This was the first ever book I read on Ayurveda, a life-style that has changed me drastically from the inside out in just a short two months. The book lacks a lot of depth, but is wonderful if you are just starting out, or want a friend or family member to learn more. It is very easy to read and understand and grasp the basic concepts of Ayurveda. Although I have read several other books on the subject, when I really need to focus on the basics, this is the book I turn too.

Chi energy, the universal energy that permeates the universe, can be accessed for health, physical energy, and spiritual energy by anyone willing to regularly perform a few simple exercises. This is the basis for the book "Chi Kung for Beginners". Chi Kung is the Chinese science of how to access and use this energy. Instead of lacking physical and mental energy you will learn to access boundless energy almost effortlessly. Besides the details of several specific techniques, the book also has an appendix that covers the most important figures in the history of Chi Kung as well as various theoretical foundations. For the beginner to Chi Kung this provides a sound basic understanding without a lot of fluff or diversions to other unrelated topics that is common in so many books of this type. "Chi Kung for Beginners" is a recommended read.

If you want to know about Chi and how to use it, then this book is for you. I have read quite a few books on the subject. Some are very good, some are not. This is one of the very good reference books. It provides the reader with a lot of essential information on how to develope and utilize Chi. Plus, it presents a great overview of the history and development of Chi understanding. This book is an imporant resource in anyone's library who wants to learn about Chi.

This is a nice book for anyone interested in learning more about Reiki from a straight forward book with reliable information. The book begins with an explaination of universal life energy, then a nice little history of the Usui system (the traditional system of Reiki healing). The book goes on to give practical advice for new practitioners including a detailed section of b&w photos for hand placements for self, others, as well as animals. The book concludes with the authors' personal Reiki stories which are quite interesting.

I really enjoyed this book!

If you do any research on natural healing, it won't be long before you realize most of these tools and techniques have been passed on through different cultures over many centuries. We rely on energy work based on Indian teachings, and herbs from Chinese and Native American medicine. For balance in health, you must read about Whole Body Healing. Learn about many healing therapies, such as vitamins, bodywork, charkas, massage, and herbal healings. Healing the body also includes working on the mind and spirit. The Healer's Wisdom, by Jennifer Fraser, is a great new title that is comfortable, and easy to read. Get this for your healing reference collection, and be sure to bookmark the appendix that lists specific ailments and their treatments.

I was very impressed with the practical advice offered in this book. I was able to look up specific conditions and find out the treatment.
If you only ever purchase one book on whole body healing, I would reccommend this one, as it spans from components of the body to chakras to herbal ,color and even massage therapy.

This book is an authentic glimpse into Japanese Reiki received through Hayashi sensei as preserved by the Yamaguchi family. I highly reccomend this book for its authenticity and insight into how Reiki was practiced in Japan after Usui-sensei began to spread his teachings in a more formalized manner.

Light on the Origins of Reiki is an excellent guide to the practitioner, and it provides numerous historic photographs, explanations of the effects of Japanese culture and history on the emergence of the Reiki System, as well as many examples of the efficacy of Reiki Ryoho.

this is a valuable tool, containing a new translation and explanation of Usui's admonitions (also known as the gokai, or five principles) as well as some of Emperor Meiji's poetry, which was known to be used by Usui-sensei as a teaching tool.

Overall, practitioners of all styles and traditions of Reiki will find the heart and sincerity of this books traditional methods to enhance and complement their own.

Interesting Read on Some Reiki History

Tadao Yamaguchi tells a story about his mother Chiyoko Yamaguchi and how Reiki came into her life. He shares some stories of his childhood and how his mother healed him numerous times with Reiki. This book seems to be more of a life story and also how Reiki was originally practiced in Japan during the 30s. Chapters are... Some Words About Jikiden Reiki, Reiki & My Family, Basic Reiki Knowledge, Japan-Background To The Birthplace of Reiki, Practical Application, How Jikiden Reiki Is Taught and Feedback From Jikiden Reiki Students. I found the "Lectures On Byosen-Feeling The Accumulations of Toxins" quite fascinating in this book. I am still new to Reiki and trying to learn as much as i can about it, so this was a interesting read for me.

Highly recommend to those who are wanting to work on opening to the experience of greater life force energy. When I am able to concentrate on Tom's guidance and my breathing, I get very powerful results from this technique. I am sometimes challenged with concentration, this is my own issue, but Tom is good at guiding you back, keeping you focused if your thoughts wander.

Opening Doors to Personal & Spiritual Growth
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2003-10-10
I greatly admire this author's ability to put in plain language what it means to change one's life--from the "treadmill"style of living to being guided by our inherent spiritual gifts. The examples she gives, drawn from everyday life, make the concepts of personal and spiritual growth accessible to all readers. Instructions and suggestions for ways to bring our lives into alignment with our spiritual selves are informative and easy to follow. I'd recommend this book for any reader who is presently feeling that there must be more to life than the present routine they are following. There are answers here that are as humble as they are wise. When I finished reading it, one of my thoughts was that it would be a wonderful book for teenagers to read as they faced some of the tough challenges of moving into adulthood. I would also recommend it to any friend who has "hit the wall" in their work or personal life.

Hello Reiki!

Review Date: 2001-07-29
This is a very good get acquainted with Reiki book with basics presented in a very easy-to-read format. It contains valuable information generally not presented in many other Reiki books. This includes how Reiki can be used to communicate with nature to replensih your energy, how to realize your dreams, open-up creative flow, deal with the past, heal political situations, overcoming fear of dentist, connecting with people through Reiki, flying using Reiki, Reiki for plants and animals and combining Reiki with other therapies. Hand positions are given with explanations and illustrated with photographs. There are sections on Reiki for treating ailments, overcoming addiction, Reiki for children, dying with the support of Reiki, how to find a reputable practitioner and length and frequency of treatments. Use of symbols is explained, but actual symbols are not given. I found the author's lack of updating Dr. Usui's history puzzling since so much new information has been discovered. I recommend "The Legacy of Dr. Usui" (Frank Arjva Petter, Christine M. Grimm) if interested in the true story and not the fable that has previously been taught. Dr. Usui was not a Christian. Borang's Reiki training came form one of Takata's 22 studenta. Therefore, her orientation for training is toward the Reiki Alliance which I find limiting. However, except for the section on Dr. Usui, I wish I had a stack of these books when I do a Reiki presentation at health fairs.

This is the second book by Kajsa Krishni Borang and is a great little Reiki book. She describes basic level one and level two information including the hand positions she uses with pictures. Also common questions about Reiki are addressed. Kajsa took all of her Reiki training with Wanja Twan, one of Takata's 22 Master students. I was happy about this book. :)
