An excellent overview and explanation of Reiki.Review Date: 2008-07-19
The language is accessible and engaging, and Quest is ready to admit to her own preferences or biases when discussing (for example) different ways of learning. The book includes good, clear diagrams of the hand positions, contact details for Reiki organisations around the world, terminology definitions and various visualisation/relaxation exercises.
Altogether a fine book; I certainly recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in Reiki, or is simply exploring spirituality or complementary healing techniques.

A "Wonder Full" Resource for Reiki and More!Review Date: 2008-04-05
This book is not only easy to understand, it is a good read. The writer's style reflects herself - the easy communication, the humor (a wonderful dry wit), the intelligence and the wisdom. It was almost as good as being there in class in person!
I believe that this book is a valuable tool, whether you are just starting out or you have been working with Reiki for quite some time. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

Chakra WorkoutReview Date: 2002-06-10
A chakra is a "center of physical and psychic energy." The body contains seven major chakras, aligned along the spinal column. When the chakras are in balance, the body feels energized. Through the centuries, people have developed several different ways of keeping the chakras open and balanced. Blawyn and Jones present several traditions, including T'ai Chi, Chi Kung, Sufi Earth Dancing, Veil Dancing, Whirling, and the Dance of the Four Directions.
They emphasize that no one method is better than the others. Readers are encouraged to try them all before deciding on what works best for them. The authors also recognize that "we need to achieve definite results quickly, because most of us can only set aside a few minutes each day for whatever technique we have chosen."
Blawyn and Jones include several breathing and meditation exercises, and also
discuss the role of colors, scents, crystals, and music in energizing the body.
They then explain all the physical
exercises in detail, with each technique illustrated with line drawings.
The final chapter explains how physical
movement helps to rejuvenate and heal the body. They say that for thousands of years, many cultures have studied and treated
the physical body by removing energy blockages. They add that "illness is directly related to the flow of energy in the physical
and spiritual body. Therefore, developing the flow of this energy will help you heal yourself."
Chakra Workout is "a beginner's guide on movement and breath." It's the book you need if you're unhappy with your physical and spiritual energy levels and want an integrated way to energize your total system.

The Chakras in Shamanic PracticeReview Date: 2008-07-17
In The Chakras in Shamanic Practice, the author adapts the various layers of human development to the chakras, including an eighth for ascendance. Thus, each chakra not only includes an associated color, quality, and location but is also linked to an age grade. At each stage, certain developmental aspects are addressed such as creativity, sensuality, compassion, forgiveness, intuition, integrity, etc.
Beyond this very informative aspect, each section also contains tasks. These exercises vary in essence from meditations and reconnecting with nature through rebirthing exercises and examining the past to connecting to others of like mind or becoming open to finding your own healing tools. The reader can easily adapt these resources to his or her own needs.
