Whatever questions you have about Reiki will be answered in this book. Suitable for the merely curious or the Reiki practitioner, and set out in an easy to use question and answer format. Especially good for someone who needs help to "explain" Reiki to others, and also full of handy tips for those practicing or hoping to use Reiki as part of a complementary therapy business.

I found this to be a loving and thorough guide to help people after they are attuned to the Reiki energy, and also for those who are thinking of getting more involved with this beautiful energy. The format with it's appropriate pictures placed throughout the book and the well planned and comprehensive chapters make this a wonderful how-to for the budding Reiki Professional.

The book is filled with down to earth advice and plain talk about how to set up your business, how to interest clients, what to say to a potential client, how to set up a space for Reiki Treatments, and even loving info on how to do a Reiki session.

I feel this is a truly inspired labor of love, and that the author left no stone un turned in bringing us this enlightened helper. It has found it's way to my spiritual tool box, and I expect it may make it's way to yours also.

The book has excellent photos illustrating hand positions and treatment options both for self treatment & treating others. The treatments are illustrated in two page spreads, with page numbers to the larger illustrations & explanations, a useful format. The book also lies flat to make use of this feature.

The author suggests that the book & tape (I haven't heard the tape) would be good for those unable to get much 1 on 1 training or practice, and this seems very likely.

The written material is good, though not too in depth, but the pictures make this an excellent book for anyone new to or interested in learing about Reiki.

The secrets of healing revealed

This photo instructional book teaches how to attune to the universal life force that imbues us, awakening those dormant healing "powers" within, and providing the means to effectively heal others and ourselves.

The first section of the guide covers self-healing techniques and also provides a chart outlining the 7 energy centers of the body, while the latter section focuses on those techniques that can be used for treating others. Clear, concise instructions accompany the photos to illustrate each point.

The origin of Reiki is mentioned, along with the various stages a student passes through during training. To highlight the various ways the acquired skills can be employed, several testimonials are included from students who have successfully used the techniques to bring about healing in their lives, and the lives of others.

This course is ideal for beginners desirous of finding their true potential via hands on healing, and for the experienced practitioners who want to further their studies and increase their knowledge of this natural healing art.

One of the best books on Reiki. It is packed with useful information and is very enjoyable to read. I loved it and gave three copies to friends who have just taken Reiki. They have found it very helpful. It shows you creative ways to use Reiki, combine it with other therapies and get the most out of it. The authors write in a lively informative style. They clearly have a passion for Reiki and can inspire others to improve their lives through its practice.

A terrific Reiki guide with the best picture of Dr. Usui

The information in this book is absolutely fantastic. It has 14 chapters which cover: 1) What is Reiki?, 2) The History of the Usui System of Reiki, 3) How Reiki differs from other healing methods, 4) Reiki for personal healing, 5) Reiki Treatments, 6) Combining Reiki with other methods of healing, 7) Other ways of using Reiki, 8) Reiki with chronic illness, 9) Reiki for self-development and spiritual growth, 10) The First Degree class, 11) The Second Degree class, 12) The Third Degree or Master's Training, 13) How to find a Reiki Master 14) Becoming a Reiki Practitioner.

My favorite parts of this book is the best quality and largest photo of Dr. Usui which gives true meaning to the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words." The section about when not to use Reiki (don't give after a pre-operative anaesthetic has been administered or during an operation. And much more info I'll need to know as a nurse.) Also, I learned "If a person is suffering from a particularly severe complaint, it might be wiser to avoid the problem area completely for the time being, allowing the energy to flow through from the other areas and reabalance the system in that way." Unfortunately I learned this after the fact of touching the upper arm of my pastor who had rotator cuff surgery. I had to stop because he was so tense me getting anywhere near his shoulder. Also I should have asked first if I could do Reiki which I also learned in this book. There is just a world of information inside! My very favorite part I will write out as it is only a paragraph on page 72 but I've used it and it is so powerful I can hardly believe it!

"Using Reiki to Balance the Chakras: Sitting in a chair, place one hand on the forehead and one on the back of the neck. Then place both hands on the shoulders. After this, place one hand on the chest and one on the back. Next, place one hand on the solar plexus and one hand on the corresponding position on the back. Finally place one hand on the abdomen and one hand on the tailbone. This short treatment will balance the chakras effectively."

Note: I did this exercise [above] as a first level healer and it worked just as strong as where I am now at second level! It really works! Try it after having/viewing an attunement. A good attunement dvd I recommend is the Reiki: First level attunement by Steve Murray offered here at Amazon. o8E

One can find many books about Reiki and feel that the writer does not know deeply what he or she is talking about. But Walter Lubeck is not only a writer and does not write to sell books... He is a Reiki Master! All Reiki Masters should read his books.

...to have the Way be so simplified. Similar to "The Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment", this booklet allows the spiritual journey to become more immediate, more available, more personal. Dispensing with the task of having to wade through volumes of dogma, doctrine, belief systems, religious ideology, new age myth, catholic teachings, etc, the author simply points that the Way and the Journey itself can be an easy, rapid and peaceful process. It is the essence of the seed within the kernel of the Tree of Buddhist teachings. A highly valued teaching; a highly rewarding experience awaits those who are so blessed to receive this in this lifetime!

PRAISE FOR THE TAO OF REIKI

The Tao of Reiki is both a thoroughly enjoyable read, informative and believable! It includes detailed descriptions of initiations in the various Reiki styles and levels (including symbols) and a suprising story about how Dr. Usui's reiki manuscripts were recently discovered. This book reveals the buddhist origins of reiki. Fantastic exerpts from Dr. Usui's diary describing his adventures while developing usage of Reiki, you really get a feel of the kind of guy he was! Basically, the most intelligent, useful and believable book on Reiki that I have read.

This book is a must for all reiki practitioners. It gives an invaluable informations about origin of Reiki and true story of dr.Mikao Usui and his followers and how to use healing energies of Reiki. My recommendation is to read this book after you have had initiation to a 2nd degree because it is better to develop your own intuitive based relationship with Reiki and then extended it with other thoughts and technics. There is no boundaries so you have to be open-minded and listen to your intuition.

It has exercises to help you with the different concepts such as seeing & feeling your aura, cleansing your aura, getting rid of negative energy, etc. There are lots of photographs throughout the book. The author is very clear and concise explaining in detail the information.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend and ended up buying a copy for myself. It's well worth the money and will be a great edition to your personal library!

Alchemy of Light Review by Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat of Spirituality & Practice

Review Date: 2007-11-08
Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee is the founder of the Golden Sufi Center and the author of many books including Awakening the World: A Global Dimension to Spiritual Practice and Working With Oneness. In this paperback, he challenges us to polish the mirror of our heart so that the light within us is more readily apparent, and we can help humanity and the world take the next step in its evolution. Today's world is enslaved to the tyrannies of materialism, power, and greed. The habit energies of selfishness and separation divide people from one another in an endless cycle of competition.

Christ told his disciples that they were the light of the world. Many other religions including Sufism emphasize the Higher Self which carries a light that belongs to God. Vaughan-Lee is convinced that the time is ripe for spiritual individuals to work with the light by serving the world. That means coming up against the tribalism, nationalism, and divisive forces which seem to control and dominate our culture. The author singles out the wisdom of the feminine since it emphasizes ways to be open and receptive to others. Women are taking the lead as guardians of the planet and offering us new patterns of connections with others.

Vaughan-Lee concludes that our light is a catalyst for the future and it will result in a transformation of our consciousness. We can accelerate this evolution by tapping the active imagination and accessing the images of the archetypal world.

Ancient healing wisdom for today
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2003-12-14
This is a thorough investigation of the origins of healing amongst peoples and cultures from around the world. The author discusses how people have dealt with illness down the ages, by developing treatments offered by their environment. This includes the use of nutritional remedies, herbs and other modalities like acupressure and acupuncture.

One characteristic of these healing techniques is their holistic approach, where the whole person is treated in order to address the patterns that manifest in a particular disease state. Many remedies for acute and chronic conditions are provided. This excellent book bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern medicine, rescuing time-tested treatments from obscurity and applying them to our times.

These ancient techniques are mostly based on the principle of vibrational medicine, just like homeopathy and Dr. Bach's flower remedies. I therefore also recommend Gerber's excellent book Vibrational Medicine for a more thorough scientific analysis of how and why this system works. Ancient Roots, Many Branches is a valuable book for those who wish to take responsibility for their own health.
