About the Author: Dr. Robert I-San Lin studied biophysics and nuclear medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned a Ph.D. degree. He then continued with post-doctoral training at the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Lin is a life member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Sigma Xi/The Science Research Society (an honor society of American scientists), and The Nutrition Society (Taiwan). He is also a member of The American College of Nutrition, The American Chemical Society, American College of Sports Medicine, American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and several other professional associations. Dr. Lin is well versed in both modern clinical sciences and traditional Chinese herbal medicine. His expertise in Chinese herbal medicine is a result of his family's heritage and his decades of research and clinical practice. Well respected in these fields, Dr. Lin has lectured at leading universities, and at many professional conventions, including The 7th World Congress of Food Science and Technology (on Lipid Nutrition & Cardiovascular Diseases).

I'm a gestalt therapist, and I first read this book as a graduate student learning gestalt therapy (when I was even younger than I am now ;-) I still refer to it, and re-read it from time to time and always learn something that didn't stand out to me last time. Give this a try if you're looking to learn about Gestalt (it's a GREAT introduction), or to deepen your knowledge of the Gestalt theory and practice from someone who 'gets it'. Pat Korb (the author) is, I believe, a true 'master therapist' if there is such a thing!

Dr. Worden's latest edition of his now classic handbook offers updated research, further refinement of the task model, and greater clarity regarding the mediators of the grief process. He presents a very balanced look at efforts to define complicated mourning and offers timely commentary on the proposed changes to the next DSM. From advanced psychotherapists, to students, and even lay people interested in grief, all will find his book enlightening. It is rare to come across a book that has such broad appeal on such an important topic. There are many choices on the topic of grief, but few if any are as well researched and thoroughly conceptualized as Grief Counseling and Grief Therapy: A Handbook for the Mental Health Practitioner, 4th Edition.

Group Work is full of information to help with youth experiencing a traumatic death of a friend or family member. Even a chapter on how parents can help their youth. Gave me all the information I needed and then some.
Definitely a great help in planning a workshop or seminar.

Group Work With Sexually Abused Children is an essential, highly recommended, invaluable core title for professional and academic mental health and counseling reference collections.

An intricately informative piece of work, giving the reader all that is required in the subject. I wish more people would write with the same information quantity and quality.

This is an excellent resource for researching and critiquing the policy and process in adoption.

Well researched and well written. If you work in the field of addiction treatment you have an ethical obligation to read this book. If you are contemplating seeking treatment, you should know what you are getting. "Caveat Emptor, let the buyer beware" should be the warning posted at the entrance of most addiction treatment centers in the US. This book offers the most up to date research which strongly suggests that traditional treatment in the US maybe worse or no better than no treatment at all. It has chapters outlining effective alternatives such as Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Community Reinforcement Approach, and Social Skills Training. Frankly if you are an addictions professional in the US and haven't read this book or understand this material, you should read it or go get a job selling used cars.

I have read two books by this author:12-lead ECG interpretation, and Arterial Blood Gas Interpretation. I find these handbooks to be an excellent resource. I am a dean of an international medical school and have recommended them to our students as valuable references.

This book is a must read for counselors and anyone who is raising boys. It should be on every parents' and counselors' shelves for many years to come.
