I bought this book for someone else who is suffering from diabetic neuropathy that is not responding well to treatment. This person said that the book is "excellent" and that it provided clear, comprehensive information that s/he wasn't able to find anywhere else (including internet sites). Highly recommended!

Peripheral Neuropathy is a concise, inexpensive volume written in plain English. It will be useful to both neuropathy sufferers and their physicians alike.

Dr. Latov's expertise -- as a clinician, teacher, and a founder of The Neuropathy Association(www,neuropathy.org) -- is well-reflected in the text.

When both the doctor and the patient are able to discuss neuropathy knowledgeably as a result of reading this work, the disease will be better understood and managed

I found the book to be inspiring and filled with facts, information and remedys for healing and healthy living. The 7 day fast, the cleansing and supplements, all made an incredible difference to me and my Mom, who has cancer. I purchased 4 more books and gave them friends and family in hopes they can be inspired to improve their health through life style changes.

This book gave me HOPE and a plan of action a few months ago, as I have breast cancer that has metastasized throughout my body. The surgeon who diagnosed me suggested that I purchase the book Death And Dying (don't ever believe your doctor, as only God knows His plans for you) but an acquaintance recommended A Cancer Battle Plan Sourcebook as well as the first book, A Cancer Battle Plan. Ann Frahm has been through the worst of it and survived. Now with her plan, combined with only 2 doses of chemo, I'm almost completely cancer free. Again, Ann gave me so much hope, and that's what people need more than anything when they get diagnosed. Since one out of two people are getting cancer, I highly recommend this book to everyone... that way you don't have to scramble to get information if you, your friends, or family get diagnosed. I'm thoroughly convinced that this plan of action could save the large majority of people with cancer, but people just aren't getting their hands on this type of information. Additionally, Dr. Frahm is a great guy who has emailed me with information several times. And, by the way, if you have cancer.... I"M WINNING AND SO WILL YOU!!

Before purchasing them, a friend loaned me "A Cancer Battle Plan" and this "Sourcebook" and my health has been forever altered! I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer in the summer and after thoroughly investigating what oncology had to offer (further assault on my immune system and an almost certain expectation of MORE cancer in the future, I opted for the NATURAL AND VERY SUCCESSFUL treatment plan of detoxifying my system and altering my lifestyle to prevent further damage. I AM CANCER FREE without chemo or radiation --- and I'm healthy and more vital than ever!
I have been working directly with Health Quarters Ministries in Colorado Springs as well as local nutritionists and my health-promoting-chiropractor. I am more certain than ever: this is the way to go!! You're guaranteed better health!!

I now understand WHY organic foods are essential (pesticides on our fruits and vegetables react in the body like hormones, and breast cancer [as well as prostate and some others] is a hormone-receptor cancer. I UNDERSTAND the dangers we have allowed into our lives and I'm WILLING to exchange health for convenience --- our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made to fight [all] diseases if we give it the right tools (nutrition) to be healthy!

BEFORE YOU CONSIDER TRADITIONAL [failing] MEDICINE --- GIVE THIS PROGRAM A "COLLEGE TRY" --- YOU WON'T EVER BE SORRY YOU DID!!!!

I strongly believe "ALTERNATIVE" therapies should be employed FIRST --- not after Western Medicine has failed (and it will ... )!

There is no "MONEY" in natural cures --- that's why they are not promoted on TV or by the medical field. "Follow the Money" if you want to be disillusioned and disappointed by all that so-called modern medicine has to offer. (More often leading to an awful quality of life and ultimately a terrible death ... DON'T DO IT!)

Gently, Profound Wisdom for Healing the Personality

Review Date: 2001-02-12
This is an excellent book for guiding oneself in healing self-limiting aspects of one's personality. I have found remarkable success in following the principles and essences outlined by Ms. Devi in moving beyond some negative thinking patterns. With a focus on the positive prototype of one's potential personality or being, rather than a focus on "what is wrong or not good enough", I begin to see immediate success and reassurance that I can free myself to become more of who I know deep within myself I am. I cn stand back (with Banana) and see my traditional patterns of reaction and thought to situations, (with Avocado) find new thoughts and possibilities, and (with Tomato) feel more capable of changing old patterns for new ways of thinking and feeling. This is such a gentle, yet highly effective methodology. I have seen several of my friends respond as immediately as I did to the higher qualities of the flower essences which Ms. Devi outlines in her book. Bravo!

A Delightful Discovery

This is an amazing book, both for the information and the writing style. It opens such new ways of thinking about flowers -- at least to many of us in the western world who never would have guessed they're not just pretty but also healthful and transforming. The information it conveys could have been rather pedantic but instead it comes across in a most delightful way, full of personal examples and insights. I felt as if Lila Devi were chatting with me at the kitchen table.

I became convinced the author was "on to something" with essences when I discovered their helpfulness for animals (she has another book on using essences with pets that I read before this general handbook). Two of the essences made a huge difference in getting my furry little car-hating critter calmed down so he could go several thousand miles with none of his usual yowling.

The book has become one of my favorite gift items, especially for folks who like to look at the larger picture of our life's search for fulfillment and transcendence, to which the author links what she says about flower essences.

A must for flower lovers!

We all enjoy the smell of a cherry blossom in Spring. In this book you will learn that cherry is 'the good cheer messenger.' That makes a lot of sense and so does Ms. Devi's explanation of 20 flower essences called the Master's Flower Essences. This comphrensive book on the aspects of these 20 flowers is easy to read, easy to understand, and will certainly change your perspective about the flowers that until now may have only delighted your senses. I discovered that flower essences also have healing qualities that can make life so much easier. I recommend that you purchase this book before the flowers start blooming in your area. It will make the spring and summertime experience with the flowers so much more enjoyable.

The flower essences referenced in the book are ONLY Master's Flower Essences. This book is of no use to me since I don't use MFE's. However, this could have been my error by not thoroughly perusing the available information (excerpts, title page, etc.). Personally, think the title is deceiving. It's sort of a sub title of a sub title, that states (in very small print on the cover) "Featuring The Original Master's FLower Essenses. I thought, great...I'll learn about these essences too..but it was ONLY these. The seller was GREAT ~ super fast shipping ~ would by from her again!! This book just does not suit *my* needs. If you use MFE's...and want to learn more, in depth descriptions...it's easy to read and practical.

I am 40 years old and have been sick since my early 20's. I recently lost faith in the medical system to help and decided to explore an approach of diet and supplementation. This book gave me so much more! When I read this book I had chronic infections, joint pains, burning muscles and collapsed asleep during and after work each day at 5:00. Moducare is miraculous! It ended all of my pain and increased my energy levels. When I ran out of Moducare, it all returned. When I restarted, it all went away. I recommend it now to friends and family. This book is so much more than a one product show however! The author explained in detail how the immune system worked. Then she explained why each supplement helped the immune system. I was able to read her description and pick out the supplements I felt I needed most. Each one improved my condition! I am now pain free. I can stay awake through the work day. I can stay awake and help my kids with their homework. I am off of antibiotics for the first time in 8 years. I will never stop taking the supplements or the Moducare. I wish I had known this 20 years ago, it would have changed my life!

The natural route to health

This excellent book covers all the basics of developing and maintaining a healthy immune system. The first part deals with nutrition and the immune system and reveals some exciting botanical discoveries that could have a beneficial effect in the natural boosting of the immune system, with particular reference to plant sterols and sterolins. It also provides a basic understanding of what the immune system consists of and how it works.

Nutritional supplements are discussed next, with detailed information on the important vitamins, minerals, trace elements and the natural hormone DHEA. Phytonutrients are the most recently discovered helpers in the fight against disease and aging, and these are treated in chapter 4. They include flavonoids, carotenoids, phytosterols, sterols and indoles and are plant-derived substances with potent beneficial effects on the body.

Chapter 5 discusses the 30-day plan to optimize one's immunity. It also defines the enemy, i.e. foods to avoid. These include animal fats, hydrogenated plant fats, refined sugar and other refined foodstuffs that have been stripped of all their nutritious ingredients. The benefits of good fats like olive oil, fish oils and flaxseed oil are explained, plus other immune boosting plant substances, yogurt and green tea.

The power of the mind in disease and health is discussed in chapter 6, which includes information on the exciting new field of psycho-neuro-immunology, the use of affirmations, healthy breathing, visualization and simple relaxation techniques.

The following chapters are devoted to specific disease states like cancer, autoimmune illnesses, allergies, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis and chronic fatigue syndrome. In every case, information is provided on how to deal with these via detoxification, nutrition, exercise, visualization and stress relief.

The book concludes with lists of product manufacturers, resources, references and a thorough index. I highly recommend this work to people who wish to harness our natural allies in boosting their immune systems and fighting disease. Further information on the nutrients and phytochemicals discussed in this book can be found in Life Extension Magazine and James F. Balch's very detailed Prescription For Nutritional Healing.

Outstanding book if you have an auto immune disease. I have an auto immune disease known as Weber-Christian disease and spent 2 years suffering before finally being diagnosed correctly. Once I had been diagnosed, I was told there was nothing that could be done for me - that it wasn't a life threatening disease and that it would just come and go periodically, so I needed to just learn to live with it. After reading this book and following the advice, I am on the way to being cured and am feeling 100% better. In a couple of months (2), I've gone from having to stay in bed taking pain killers to leading a normal life again, virtually pain free!! I am only 37 years old and was not ready to just lie down and give up. This book has been a life saver for me. I highly recommend it to anyone with an auto immune disorder.

This book is really helpful. Shows how certain supplementation can aid the immune system and the mind body connection in relationship to the immune system and is written in clear and concise form and intended for the layman. It covers some of the following topics - Thirty Days to Boost Immunity - Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill - Genetically Engineered Foods - Plants Provide Great Disease Protection - Killer Sugar
Eating Too Much Depresses Immunity - Yogurt: Super-Immune Booster
How Can I Eat Enough Greens? - Fabulous Fiber - Greens in a Glass - Protein for Repair - Are You Digesting What You Eat?
Pure Clean Water - Green Tea: Your Coffee Substitute - Your Body Has the Power to Heal - Nutrition: Cancer's Formidable Foe - Why Do We Get Cancer?
Why Are North American Cancer Rates So High? - What Is Cancer? - Attitude Is the Key to Survival - Natural Therapies Pack a Punch Case History - Detoxification Diet: Jump-Start Immunity and much more! - I found a really good source of M.D. backed information on immune health with supplementation -- if you are interested email healthnc_at_aol_dot_com and request immune health info.

From this book I learned all about how the immune system workswhich was great, I have CFS. I have to say that her recommendationsfor being a vegetarian are not good -- that's a good part of how I gotCFS...

For some fast immune improvement, do Hulda Clark's liverflush in "The Cure For All Diseases" until your liver isclean. You should notice an improvement in your metabolism and skintone right away or after the first few flushes. The ingredients costless than $6 and you do it yourself at home over 24 hours! Piece ofcake and lots of bang for your buck.

To really rock your world andaccelerate healing, read "We Want To Live" by AajonusVonderplanitz. This book is revolutionary and phenomenal and makes somuch sense. My energy has absolutely gone through the roof from hissuggestions, and, of course, because I did 12 liver flushes.

If you are new to Reiki and looking for a good all-round book to bring you up to speed, then you'll want to pick up a copy of Empowerment through Reiki. This is probably the most complete yet easy to comprehend resource that I've seen. Many of the beginner or general books on Reiki try to make the process seem much more difficult or complex than it is. This leaves the reader intimidated and confused. This is probably the reason that many people take a first course with gusto and then forget the whole experience.

Empowerment through Reiki goes through all the basics of Reiki: the history, the precepts, the way Reiki works, what is taught at each Reiki level, and how Reiki can be used in everyday life. This book also goes into some detail about somewhat advanced techniques that can be used to make Reiki more effective and how Reiki can be used in conjunction with other forms of healing.

Good Guide To Reiki & Healing Philosophy

Review Date: 2003-08-13
This book is only about 150 pages, yet it manages to introduce the reader to many valuable areas of information and philosophy about Reiki healing. Usui's 5 principles are examined, as is the attunement process and the science of subtle energies. Complements to Reiki, such as color, sound, crystals, conscious breathing, acupressure, massage, and naturopathy are discussed. The author gives a balanced, realistic idea about what Reiki is and what it can do. There are useful body charts and diagrams, and recommendations for how to practice Reiki according to legalities of your area. My only cautions about this book are that it repeats the mythologized history of Usui's uncovering of Reiki, and that it implies there are no significant hazards of Reiki healing work, and does not guide the practitioner in remaining centered and consciously connected to the Reiki Source as a means of psychic protection. It is presumed that this just happens automatically, which is usually but not always the case. Other than that, I found this book to be a very enlightened approach to educating readers about Reiki. For a compact, affordable guide to Reiki this book is a great investment.

I am not a practitioner of Reiki but a client. As a client, I know that no book can ethically claim to be a "how to" book. Formal training is required. But if you are interested in receiving Reiki treatments, this book will help you feel even more relaxed about the process. Plus it gives wonderful background information for those who wish to pursue training in this area. I've glanced at several Reiki books and this is one of the best. So read, enjoy, and open up to the wonderful possibilities of Reiki!

Mind Power is a very informative and fascinating look into the brain and how it works. It includes real stories by real people struggling with the challenges of everyday life and the more life threatening diseases.Insomnia, depression and Alzheimer's are just a few of the afflictions discussed. I am a visual artist and sometimes I have to work with toxic materials. For many years now I have had spells of insomnia, memory loss, lack of focus and energy. Sometimes, it was hard just to get out of bed each morning. I was in awe while reading this book because I felt like it was really talking to "Me"! I have been following one of the protocols for 2 months now. I already see and feel a tremendous difference in my memory, clarity and focus. I have renewed energy and I no longer suffer from insomnia! Mind Power helped me to understand the biological and chemical reactions which were taking place in my brain and body from all the toxicity in my life. Dr.Gary Null clearly illustrates the true meaning of "cause and effect". I will always continue my work as an artist, but I now feel like I have the tools to prevent any further damage. From the physical to the mental to the emotional and to the spiritual, this book beautifully covers it all. An inspiration for life! Thanks Gary Null.

This book is very knowledgeable, and different from other 'brain health' books in many ways. Null gets specific on certain disorders and ailments, and describes in laymens terms what everything means and why his advice works. This book does not recieve five stars from me because his suggestions for a life makeover are quite radical and somewhat unrealistic. For example, Null states how we should avoid Casien proteins, never eat meat, only eat wild fish and avoid dairy completely - he doesnt even imply moderation. I believe there can be a healthy and mututal symbiosis in all the diatary food groups, Null wont acknowledge it.

I do however VERY much enjoy his recipies for food and shakes. They are quite tasty and exceptionally healthy. I can agree with the whole concept of organic foods and excercise for each diet he perscribes. The best thing about the book are Null's exceptional understanding of suplementation. Null goes in depth and reccomends the best supplements combinations I have ever seen. The supplement listings and recipies are the main reasons I purchased this book. I am a mere 20 years old, and like Null says, "Prevention is the best medicine". I highly reccomend this book for college students and middle aged men and women.

Definitely one of the better books on these subjects. Good consistent format as the author systematicaly goes through each herb- increased my understanding of how these substances may be used or misused. This book is a must have for anyone supplimenting with herbs- it helps you know what kind of questions you should be asking about any suppliment you may be considering so that even if it isn't covered in this book you know what you don't know before you go searching for answers. It really made me skeptical about other books I ordered which recommend everything on the shelf to everyone. I recommend everyone obtain this book and confront herbalists and other authors with the insights you gain from this book before blindly supplimenting.

the bias against herbs etc is quite revealing. does this author work for the drug companies? most of her comments are "unscientific" in the sense that her science is based on American studies and disregards other studies.Anything negative is emphasized and anything positive is qualified. She will write that of the 100 studies most were not strictly scientific, therefore one can not rely on them etc. What about the 10-20 studies that were done scientifically? What do they say? If an herb shows some positive benefit, she will state that it can not be proved and therefore may not be accurate. But if there is some negative about the herb, she will state stay away from it,again, without any scientific studies to support her claim. She is the type of "scientist"that 200 years ago would say that the idea of bacteria-invisible organisms-causing disease is ridiculous because they can not be seen and no studies have ever proven that. Her opinion of homeopathy-that it is nothing but a placebo effect says it all. Her " science " is that of a mind in a strait jacket;no imagination, no concern for health matters, that may work but have not been "proven" yet.One should look for this book in a book store, read about an herb one is familiar with and then decide whether one wants to waste money on this book. Some of the science is interesting, but her conclusions are anemic intellectually.

Once again I reached for Dr. Cass' book today. I've had it for about six months and it hasn't sat closed for any two weeks in a row. I've tried several items listed and found that some worked and some didn't. One of the greatest joys is replacing a pill or supplement with real food. I'd rather eat fish than a tablespoon of fish oil!

It took time to realize that the book is written for a general audience, not just for me. Now I'm working through her suggestions methodically, patiently weeding out those that aren't right for me and keeping those that are. For instance, I discovered that high potency vitamin B "complete" supplements work well with SAMe. On the other hand, valerian only caused bad dreams.

Used in conjunction with Chris Carmichael's "Food for Fitness" and some great web resources, I find that I have both high energy and a great attitude towards life and my health.

Finally something useful!

I don't know about you, but I get tired of health & nutrition books that go on and on about technical details without supplying any real information I can use. That is why I have appreciated the direct approach taken in Natural Highs. The authors clearly explain how to feel better and why it works. The descriptions of neurotransmitters and brain chemistry are sufficient without becoming tiresome. The supplement recommendations are candid and well balanced. Important techniques such as breathwork and meditation are also covered. This book is readable and even entertaining. If you are curious about natural ways to relax or improve your mood, give it a try!

OK, but not scientific

There is definitely some interesting information in this book, but the use of biased anecdotes and several totally false claims make it difficult to determine how much of the book can actually be trusted.

Overall it wasn't worth buying because I had to spend many hours doing my own research on the authors' claims. As always books that rely on anecdotes to back up claimed benefits should be viewed with suspicion.

This Book Rocks!

At first I thought that eating clay was crazy. After reading this book I am a true believer. The author takes a step by step approach that is simple to understand and creates a strong argument for the benefits of this substance. Nature also uses these healing benefits and we are just getting back to our roots of the earth.

Informative and Interesting

I have always been interested in clay eating. It is such a fascinating topic. I like the book and was able to finish it in good time. It is good easy reading and straight to the point. I just started eating the clay and hoping for good results!

Get this book on clay. You will learn a lot.Call the companies in the back if you have questions. I ordered from two of them back there, and they sent me the products already.

I read this book and it was very helpful to me. It helped me to understand the very mysterious habit of clay eating. With some good anecdotes, and straight-to-the-point writing, I was certainly pleased with the manuscript. There are lots of clays on the marketplace and the author helps the reader to categorize the various clays and choose one that is right for him or her. Not to mention that there are so many different delivery systems for the clay!

I would enthusiastically reccomend this book. I hear that it is going to go to a 2nd printing. I will buy that one, too.

Kava is a great herb and you should know more about this herb. But if you are looking for more than stories that you can find yourself by browsing, this book is not for you.
This book is useless if you are looking for in depth review about kava. The only things in this book are stories and anectdotal experience from kava users that you can actually see on the internet.
The worst thing about this book is the author recommend the use of kava for hyperactive child to stoned them.

I have the pleasure of living in the only city in the country that has an authentic Kava Bar. I've chosen to remain anonymous to keep it underground, where is should stay. Kava is amazing and this book is just another testimonial of that fact. Kava does just what this book claims that it does...it cured my insomnia, and that's a fact. I just dread the day Kava becomes the next frapaccino, because I love it right where it is. It is illegal in Canada and Germany and probably many other places, so I'm hoping that that doesn't happen in the U.S. by people abusing this awesome herbal medication.

Congratulations and gratitude

This book continues the progress that is being made in the effort to rediscover the essential links between natural medicine, the human personality, and true health. It can be read to further personal well being and it is a testament of how our leading western physicians are returning to honest, scientifically vaild remedies for what ails us. This book is not only about kava--though it is the most readable account of the traditional and modern uses of that wondrous herb--moreover it encourages us to find our own health in the matrix of Her Mystery that is our own deep self.

Best book on Kava I've seen!

Another exemplary achievement from Dr. Hyla Cass following hot on the heels of her outstanding book on St. John's Wort. Well-presented information on this herbal stress reliever, with case histories, research information, even a discussion on the growing, politics and economics of the kava industry. This includes attention to issues of sustainability, fairness in compensating the native South Sea Island growers and legal issues regarding herbal claims under DSHEA. Thorough coverage with something for everyone! A must-read. Highly recommended!

Under the spotlight of increasing popularity, Kava...or Kava Kava to those who think twice about using it, is the latest "miracle natural drug," alleged to relieve anxiety and stress without side effects or addiction. This book is not bad. It certainly is true to its title, discussing in depth how Kava is nature's answer to several common aliments. Yet, in our modern world where the newest "fad" goes from scientist to corporation to local mall vendor in a matter of months, the basic question is, "do these things really work?" Take a valium, and you will feel calm. Take a Xanax and your anxiety will be relieved. Most likely, however, you will became dpeendant on these drugs and eventually resort to robbing your local Dairy Queen to support you habit, unless friends intervene and get you to Rehab in time. So there is the true magic of Kava. No dependancy...no side-effects...it is legal...and it works? Well, this book certainly believes it does, and it backs this assertion with several well laid out and researched chapters. The problem is, is that Kava has been used for centuries in elaborate rituals on beautiful tropical islands as the sun is setting and soft island music plays in the background. Oh yea, and they use Kava. Now, if you are not relaxed after that, you are either already dead, or you might as well give up your dream of becomming stress free. Does Kava work in the bog city, with big city pressures? Will a Kava Latte be that far off, or even a Kava encrusted chicken breast? Nothing is certain as yet. If anything, this book is a step forward in educating the public on a possibly promising new alternative to presciption drugs. A message to the reader, however: Keep an open mind and remember, the Metabolife people know where you live.
