Full of fascinating facts and anecdotes from his own thriving practice, Dr. Ingels' book is a joy to read, while very informative. Having read "Natural Treatments for High Cholesterol" you will be up-to-date on the effectiveness and safety of non-conventional treatments for high cholesterol. I recommend this book highly.

A complete easy to understand review of the vitamins and supplements citing solid scientific evidence is presented without any bias. To the best of my knowledge, it is the first time that a book on this subject matter has been written from an objective point of view. The author writes clearly with a style that shows that scientific matters can be expressed in a language that can be understood by people of every walk of life. I also recommend the book to those individuals who want to learn to write concisely and clearly.

Reading this book made a huge difference to my pregnancy. It really helped me cope with all of the minor aches, pains and ailments that my doctor just brushed off as being part of pregnancy. I found the yoga and natural therapies particulalry invaluable. This book was a real eye opener. I didn't realise that these resources were available. I aslo read Janet Balaskas's other books, 'New Active Birth' and ' The Encylopedia of Pregnancy and Birth'. The wisdom and practical information contained on these pages is a gift to women the world over.

This book helped our family put the brakes on the out-of-control rollercoaster ride of asthma. "Natural Relief for Your Child's Asthma" empowers parents with page after page of specific instructions on how to reduce your child's dependence on medication by understanding the limits of conventional medicine, finding and avoiding triggers, using food as a healer, using supplements to strengthen your child and using alternative mind-body medicine to enhance your child's well-being. While the authors have lots of great information about how to reduce dependence on medicine over time, they aren't zealots who encourage you to turn your back on conventional medicine. The real power that comes from this book is that now, when I go to see my child's asthma specialist, I can ask informed questions about my son's condition. I'm no longer a note taker jotting down what medicines my child should take when. I can encourage my doctor to challenge us to make dietary and lifestyle changes to detoxify our child's environment that he might not otherwise have mentioned assuming that we would prefer the "easy" way out of finding stronger and stronger medicines to rescue our child. I strongly encourage any parent of a child with asthma to read this book!

This book should be a manual given to anyone who is facing a chronic illness. Even if you are like me and an experienced veteran of researching their illness, how to be healthier, and how the body system works, I guarantee you'll find many useful bits of info in this book. Such as soaking grains and legumes to remove phytates. I appreciate that the author also supports their writing with studies and a reference section. The information is so well-rounded that it gives the reader an opportunity to try different approaches or consider things they mave have never thought of that are making or contributing to them getting sick. I borrowed from the library but will definitely be buying a copy for my own reference.

As someone who has always been interested in herbs and gifts from Nature and their uses, I highly recommend this book. It states how gifts from Nature (e.g. plants, fragrant stones, honey etc) that grow in the Middle East, can be used in the kitchen as well as for healing. It also includes some very interesting Middle Eastern culinary recipes. Though the book mostly gives "hand-me-down" information that has been passed down from generation to generation, it does contain some information on whatever scientific studies were conducted on herbs. It gives some insight into ancient cultures that are little known in the West. The book is easy and fun to read.

My husband and I are just beginning to explore the reasons we're having trouble conceiving, and before going to our doctors, I wanted to make sure that we were giving ourselves the best possible odds. This book is great at summarizing the many things affecting fertility that are in our control right now, and since reading this book, we've changed our diet, started taking supplements and herbs, and begun acupuncture. But the book also covers traditional medical treatments; it just doesn't assume that they're a first step. The book is pretty short, which is good, but I would have liked more detail about particular herbs. Also, it's written with British terms, which is only a problem if you don't know that linseed oil and flax seed oil are the same thing (I spent a lot of time looking for "linseed oil," which is the British name). There are also some suggestions that we're not up to ("don't store food in plastic"; "eat only organic food"), but that's our fault, not the book's.

The last section of the book provides charts and lists that include a quick reference for herbs (dosage, reported uses, comlimentary, adverse, and interactive drug effects); a nutraceutical chart (same info as above); a homeopathic reference for common complaints; vitamins and minerals chart(RDA, uses, food sources, deficiency symptoms, toxicity); a drug-induced nutrient depletions chart; cancer chemotherapy considerations; herbal medicine in pediatrics; an unsafe herbs list; pregnacy considerations; and organ system support using natural products. This book is an excellent source of information on natural products in an easy-to-use format.

Dr. Weintraub includes the newest natural treatments for the symptoms of ADD and hyperactivity. As the formerly confused mother of a hyperactive child who has tried everything over the years, I found this book to be a great source of up-to-date information and I highly recommend it to other parents.

This is not just another book with suggestions on how to improve your health. This is a teaching manual on how to change the way that you fuel your body, mind, and soul for a healthier, happier, more productive life. If you believe that the food and beverage industries, the vitamin and supplement companies, the traditonal medical industry, and the FDA have your best interests at heart, think again. You need to quit listening to the corporations that are focused only on the bottom line, and and take charge of your health and well being. The Natural Way to Heal is a great place to start! Read it, learn it, live it! Then read it again! And share it with family and friends!
