You Cannot Practice Hypnotherapy Without this Seminal Work!
Helpful Votes: 15 out of 16 total.
Review Date: 2002-06-29
I am not going to write a great deal about this book. It speaks for itself and stands on its own. The Answer Within is also the answer that every practicing hypnotherapist must have. Must.
With out the in depth knowledge of the precise techniques, so carefully detailed and skillfully analyzed by the Lankton's, especially the insightful and highly practical prose of Carol Lankton, it would take a life time to develop half of the knowledge contained in this delightfully written text.

The great care and skill shown by Carol and Stephen Lankton make this text come alive and thereby allows the wealth of knowledge it contains flow easily to the reader.

Although this book is specifically targeted to skilled professionals, the concepts, useful & practical concepts, can be grasped and used by the layperson.

I also believe that there is little or no chance of harm or any difficulty arising by a non professional studying this work. In fact, if you spend the time to grasp and understand the basic framework and specialty specific vocabulary, it is one hell of a read.

I recommend it to any person that is studying or practicing hypnotherapy - it is a MUST HAVE! To the interested layman - you can gain a keen insight into a world of treatment and knowledge of your inner self that you probably did not existed in this shape or form. Amazing!

Buy the book. Grow. Learn. Find YOUR Answer. This is the seminal tome.

Love All The Glenn Herrold CD's

These CD's are an easy listen filled with wonderfully phrased, motivational words. Glenn's Australian accent is a pleasure to listen to. Places on the CD have music as well that accompanies the voice. I LOVE these CD's and own most of them. If you live in the states you may hear an occassional terminology that is not common in the U.S. (Example, in the weight series he uses a weight measurement of a 'stone' which is a British term that represents 14 pounds). This happen rarely and certainly does not detract from the message presented in any of Glenn's CD's. You can't really listen to these in the car as they are a little hypnotic so be sure you are in a stress free mind set and location when you listen to any of therse CD's. I felt they were worth every penny.

This book has been helpful to me in my hypnotherapy work as Chaplain at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital, New Orleans, LA. It can be benifical to hypnotherapist in general practice. I may add that Chapter 7 "Hypnotherapy and Religion" was written by me, Chaplain Paul G. Durbin, Ph.D The book is worth you money.

Consumer Guide to Hypnosis
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-05-06
What makes this book so unusual and helpful is that it discusses hypnotherapy from the consumer's--rather than the therapist's--point of view. The book counsels the reader about what can be gained from professional hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming. It then guides the consumer in selecting the best and most appropriate practitioner.

On this page there's not yet an Editorial Review or an Inside the Book feature; to give an idea of the scope of the book, here is the Table of Contents:

1: What [hypnosis] is and what it isn't
2: Approaches--authoritarian, permissive, or cooperative
3: Techniques used in hypnosis
4: Lay or medical hypnotist?
5: Hypnotists help--people heal
6: The art of self-hypnosis
7: Uses of hypnosis
8: Hypnosis and learning
9: Hypnosis and the law
10: Hypnosis in sport
11: Hypnosis and stress
12: Questions and answers
13: A few case notes

The best dream interpretation book I've found
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-26
What I hate about dream interpretation books is that so very many of them are fluffy and full of silly dictionaries or completely off the wall theories. Well, this one is the exception to that rule.

This book is based on the integration of three dream interpretation theories from real psychologists: Jung, Freud, and Perls. It covers all aspects of dreaming, including the physical parts of sleep and the sleep cycle, the history of dream interpretation, the major theories and theorists of dream interpretation, and so much more. It's well-written, full of excellent supporting evidence and quotations, and based in real-life experience. This is an amazing book.
