Hypnotherapy Books

This is a book with very simple conceptualizations of the human experience. It is an excellent book for enthusiastic young students, although it leaves much to be desired for the experienced practitioner.

This is a well rounded selection. It includes a variety of approaches, not leaning in a particular direction. It is best enjoyed with, or following, the authors' sequel book, Handbook of Clinical Hypnosis

Disappointed the cover is a bland silver and not the cover as shown on Amazon. Content is useful.

This book's first edition was published in 1981, describing itself as a "comprehensive text...[providing] an up-to-date survey of the available information on child hypnotherapy...a detailed, thorough, and stimulating source of ideas and creative approaches to understanding chidlren and helping them develop their potential to the fullest." The revised and expanded third edition includes new material, but hasn't changed substantially from the first edition - it is hard to improve on perfection. In its latest incarnation, this third edition remains the "gold standard in the field." The book is a thorough handbookof various hypnotherapeutic measures, with illustrative examples and logically argumented selection methods to choose the method of choice for a needed purpose. The author has a wide and longstanding experience on the subject and thus can stay on clinically approvable methods.

Perhaps only faultable because of its textbook-like style, this is a compendium of techniques and information about hypnosis that no serious student, practitioner, or stage performer should be without. Section by section, it breaks out the various methods and phenomena of hypnosis into easily digested chunks, so the reader can pick and choose at leisure. An excellent practical guide and reference that is sure to be used regularly

As a novice, I found this a very interesting and informative writing. I have been able to use this info for age regression. It has given me a more positive outlook, by giving me a tool to research myself. Thanks

This was the first book I bought on this suject and it is great. Real easy to understand. This is the perfect book if you are just starting to get into this. It teaches almost everything you would want to learn. I enjoyed this book a lot. You can master self-hypnosis producing the self-made audiocassetes and go on to use it to increase self-confidence, improve memory, cure insomnia, quit smoking, lose weight, break bad habits, remember dreams, enhance sexual performance, and more. Everything is very simple. Easy-to-follow tips show exactly how to achieve whatever goals are desired. The only problem with this book -- where are the secrets of self-hypnosis?

I am a "layperson" with a deep interest in Erickson's work and I have a collection including most of his writings. However, there is so much of it that I admit I have gotten lost in the volumes, without ever a hope of sorting out the nuggets of technique and the foundations of Dr. Erickson's philosophy. This book does an amazing job of sorting it all out, and I am greatly indebted to Dr. Havens for doing so. Yes, the text is mostly quotes from Erickson's writings. The brilliance is in how they are categorized, and in Dr. Havens' accompanying interpretations. This book has instantly become one of the most valued in my collection.

OK, this is a beautiful book, I admit. Yet it is totaly uninformative it only has quotes and doesn't teach you really something. It's too general.

Suppose you take thirty pictures of diffrent churches and shred them all into little pieces and look at the pieces you will learn nothing of architecture nor history.

And three stars is even a little overrated.

Glenn Harold's recording is effective. The music/recording methods generally help the hypnotic process, but sometimes the sound effects are a little overdone and can be distracting.

The book sheds light on hypnosis, the history of ideas, and the epistemological conflict of heart and reason, clarifying what we audaciously call depth psychology. The authors discuss Copernicus and Galileo, Kant and Pierre Janet, Michael Balint and Jacques Lacan. The text is dense but worth all the effort it takes to finish.

These CD's are an easy listen filled with wonderfully phrased, motivational words. Glenn's Australian accent is a pleasure to listen to. Places on the CD have music as well that accompanies the voice. I LOVE these CD's and own most of them. If you live in the states you may hear an occassional terminology that is not common in the U.S. (Example, in the weight series he uses a weight measurement of a 'stone' which is a British term that represents 14 pounds). This happen rarely and certainly does not detract from the message presented in any of Glenn's CD's. You can't really listen to these in the car as they are a little hypnotic so be sure you are in a stress free mind set and location when you listen to any of therse CD's. I felt they were worth every penny.

I enjoy turning this tape on before I go to bed each night. I feel like it's helping me with my concentration. The voice is pleasant to listen to, and is not too much of a droan. I am not sure that my memory has increased at all; but it does boost your self confidence in your ability to retain new info. B.

This is simply a great book showing you step by step instructions on how to use hypnosis. This book comes with an hypnosis wheel and sample hypnosis scripts. I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about trying hypnosis. Some sections of this book go to far into detail (making the book boring).

...before I tried it. A friend gave me my first title by Gelnn Harrold and it worked! Then I bought this title and I listened to it every night before bed. I started going to the gym three times a week and I'm getting in good shape. Even more amazing...I enjoy going to the gym now! I have never viewed myself as easily influenced, but if you apporach this with an open mind and ALLOW yourself to be influenced, it might work for you too!
