Colorado Books

I don't even live in Colorado yet this book made me feel like I was right there experiencing the changes of a place full of great heritage. The author has a wonderful way of taking you down a historical path, celebrating these places with such a lovely sense of place and roots and an amazing decication to preserving both the past & the present. A very enjoyable read!

When a new American military academy was being planned and it needed a mascot - but not just any old bird; one which would represent the U.S. Air Force Academy's mission of flying and fighting. It seemed the falcon would best fit the bill, and Falconry At The United States Air Force Academy tells of the performing mascot's importance to the Academy, as well as the overall history of falconry.

We live at the boundaries of the Pike National Forest (Colorado), and we travel the state camping in our Coleman pop-up. We picked this book up at the vistor's center at Rocky Mountain National Park. It is great. Informative. Easy to read. Nicely bound. Since we have been to a little less than half of the places described in the book, we know it to be largely accurate and WELL worth the read.

I ordered this book because I grew up in this area, Westwood to be exact and I found it facinating the depth of the area that Sharon went to in her book. This is particularly interesting to anyone from Denver and especially from the West and Southwest areas. Fat/Trax:Colorado Springs is a must if you like to mountain bike and enjoy great views. Whether you are a resident or visitor to the area, this book provides everything you'll need to know about riding the trails in the region except for the current weather conditions...also a must. Sized for the trail, easy to follow, and priced right, this one inspires all skill levels to saddle-up and "crank" out a most enjoyable ride.

This was a great book! I enjoyed every moment of it. The author captures the reader's attention with humor and brings it all together with a good message. Everyone should go out and buy it!

An excellent read. I knew a little about the ludlow massacre, but never really understood the context of the time until I read this book. Now I tell some of the story to all of my college students as they take their first course in Business. It is important for them to understand the absolute corruption of power of that time, and the legitimacy of unions in correcting the abuse. Of course later unions get too much power in some industries and they become the abusers of power. This is a valuable book to set the stage for a century long look at power issues in the workplace.

This is one of the best books on a rather broad subject matter. The authors have done a commendable job of covering the availability and use of firearms during one of the most dramatic times in American history. Not only do they document the use of major manufacturers products, they also cover the use and possession of lesser known products as well. This is a well written and entertaining compendium of information that is bound to go down in literature history as one of the great books on the subject it covers. I recommend this book if you have any interest in this subject. It is well worth the money spent!

Joyce Lohse has written a book impressive for its detailed knowlege of many important events in Colorado History. Included are numerous fascinating maps, documents, and pictures, which she has unearthed in years of exhaustive research. Interesting to anyone who wants to learn more about early Colorado, this book chronicles a formative period which should never be forgotten.

If you are interested in forensic psychiatry, this is an excellent book with which to begin.

It is also a sad story of how religious mania destroyed a young man and destroyed the lives of his parents.
