In Equity Valuation, Risk and Investment, Peter Stimes takes us on an illuminating and rewarding voyage in the development of a modern-day investment practitioners' valuation model. He presents, in clear and precise terms, a new approach to valuation. Mr. Stimes' step-by-step review of his model's derivation allows the reader to objectively judge its merits while learning more about this unique valuation process. Mr. Stimes provides sufficient detail to enable money managers to incorporate the author's insights into their own methodologies.

For the professional or the student, reading Mr. Stimes' book provides one with a deeper understanding of valuation - both absolute and relative. Mr. Stimes faces valuation head-on, providing pros and cons of various methodologies, including his own, building on the works of great economists and the pioneers of modern portfolio theory. I believe that every money manager, analyst and student will benefit from reading this book, especially in these volatile times.

This important collection includes twenty-nine essays selected from the Carpenter collection, Essays on Christian Science Ascribed to Mary Baker Eddy; Bible Lessons and Sermonettes; Footsteps Fadeless; and a number of her early transcripts, including her published version of The Science of Man.

One passage from the Red Book states, "Law means orderly and continuous activity. Therefore, the active energy emanating from Mind is law, and is eternally established. Mind, or active infinite intelligence, is of necessity law. All true active thought, motive, and purpose are in divine Mind.

"Love is everywhere. Abide in Love. Nothing can touch or harm you in Love. Know that you live in Love. Love is God as Life itself. Take this understanding with you and bless others with Love. Remember there will be nothing comes to you that you cannot overcome.

The victory is yours by inheritance; claim it and use it as yours. Work every day to know that the belief of impossibility has no power over you. Know that it cannot possibly affect you in any way, and can never for an instant hinder your demonstration, whether you are working for health, peace, joy, or any mental quality, thing or experience. Know that you are conscious of the possibility and realization of all that is good and true.

Resolve your occupation or business into mind; then make it a channel for activities of good. Any evil in the past cannot act as present consequences nor claim those consequences of evil to be indestructible, for God knows no evil, and it has no presence."

This is a very useful handbook for practitioners and teachers in antritust matters. This volume contents a complete overview of the european common legislation and the principles that orient the national antitrust laws in Europe. The organization of the information makes it an systemait and valuable reference to people starting in this area. The references to the jurisprudence and doctrine produced during the last 40 years is also useful and helpful. It is one of the top books regarding a systematic study about the requirements to analyze monopolistic practices. It is very useful to find differences between the US system and the european approach to the antitrust cases. Another area that is develop properly, is the relationship between antotrust an another fields like intellectual property, national jurisdiction and civil law.

AS the intro says, most people who write books on advertising are either out of the business or not exactly top of their craft.

This book brings together leading names such as Steve Henry and Jim Kelly who share their thoughts on various industry trends.

Jim Kelly's guide to surviving a pitch alone is worth the price.

Increased interest in Spirituality
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2001-06-04
This is an outstanding book that addresses a subject of increasing interest in our nation and a topic of increased conversations in healthcare-Spirituality. It comprehensively covers spirituality from the patient's, physician's, and chaplain's perspective, including information on various patient populations. The statistics were enlightening. Although primarily directed at physicians and healthcare professionals, this book would also be of interest to patients or the general public. The book is easy to read but well referenced. The comprehensive reference list would make additional study convenient.

Healthcare is in a state of rapid change both clinically and economically. In order to stay current and up-to-date in the business of your medical practice, I recommend reading, "The Physician's Survival Guide to the Business of Medicine, by Robert Katz, CPA. I have read the book and have significantly decreased my account receivables, increased my collections and even increased the number of new patients after implementing Mr. Katz's production and bonus program. This is a must read for every physician that has any concerns about the economics of health care.
