Excellent Addition to Your Studies on ReikiReview Date: 2002-06-30
There is a tendency these days to give a cheap Reiki first level attunment, with a quick lesson and a scrap of paper to explain it all. I have had many people who received first level attunments tell me it was a fake, a fraud and they got nothing out of it except losing their $$$.
Mr. Tompkins presents us with a book that would be a great augment to any first level practitioner who feels that the instructions were left out of their attunment.
Mr. Tompkins offers a very clear and exact manual on how to use your Reiki attunment to get the most out of this healing art. The pictures offer instruction that are clear and easy to follow.
There is a section about being professional as a Reiki practitioner. There are also correspondences for crystals and stones, and even for keeping personal records. Mr. Tompkins covers a lot of ground here, and makes this a book that is worth having in your personal library.
This book augments the first level Reiki attunment very well, and is worth a personal recommendation for those who did not seem to get out of their first attunment what they might have expected.
For those who did get a good foundation for their first attunment, this book might do well to cover those little nagging items that your teacher may have forgotten to add. Teachers are not perfect, and we do tend to get bogged down sometimes with some item or another that has us forgetting to cover another important part of our lesson. Here is a handbook that could fill in a blank or two.
This is a good reference book and it's good to see someone making this information available in a very clear and well written format.

Suitable for therapists, not for scrying...Review Date: 2003-01-15
The mirror in this book is the mirror of the Soul. The client is guided through certain innovative visualizations of their soul as a mirror. They are asked to visualize only the essence of their Soul, and not the influence of others on it. Then exercises using the light of the eyes are worked on. I am sure I am not doing the procedure justice; it could be very effective with the proper therapist, but since this seems to be written as a guidebook for therapists to use with patients it just was not the book for me.

Good book to start research about life forceReview Date: 2008-07-28
His original papers have too many details and list of sensitive people who did research for him. This could be exellent book if baron put little more details he published in original version. First half of the book are not baron letters but several long prefaces. This is pity because that space could be used to put some important findings from original papers and some pictures also.

An excellent introduction to the practice of Qigong.Review Date: 2000-02-03

You have to try this! Review Date: 2008-04-03
I will admit I was very skeptical while reviewing The Secret of Instant Healing; in the beginning. As I followed the step by step exercises to finding pure awareness and Quantum Entrainment; as well as completing the little tests Mr. Kinslow introduces, I quickly became a believer! I could focus my energy on my middle finger and it actually appeared to grow longer than the one on my opposite hand. Thank goodness it went back to normal!
This book is a step by step guide on awakening the inner awareness inside of you; with a little humor here and there. You can learn how to heal without medicines, acupuncture, or old family remedies; just by using your mind and energy within your body or the body of the person you are healing at that time.
The Secret of Instant Healing by Frank J. Kinslow is a strangely true book that I will re-read and follow more closely so that I can always be aware and keep my skills honed in the instance that they are needed. I felt like Mr. Kinslow was sitting right next to me talking as a friend with his silly comments thrown in and the natural way the words seemed to flow. A truly enjoyable and informative read that will open your eyes and your awareness. 4 Hearts

I was intrigued by the title of this book the moment I saw it on Amazon.com. After all, I was taught that you couldn't use Reiki unless a Reiki Master attunes you. I had done my own research on other energy methodologies and had formed by own opinions about attunements and whether or not they are necessary.
John Campbell is incredibly down to earth about reiki and how it works. He has some very strong opinions on the current reiki community, attunements, lineage and money. He sometimes gets dangerously close to overtly criticizing other practitioners, something I personally try to avoid. For as much as Mr. Campbell eschews traditional methods because of the "my way is the only way" mentality, he does little to encourage his readers to explore for themselves, judging other practitioners and masters, driving his audience to follow his method for fear of being mislead or overcharged.
It is Mr. Campbell's contention that Reiki should be accessible to all, at little or no cost. His book has instructions on how to attune yourself to reiki as a Level Three Reiki Master, showing you how to place the reiki symbols in your aura in 10 steps, encouraging you to follow your intuition and trust yourself.
Instructions on attuning to Level II and then Level I follow in that order. I find it intriguing that in his method, you are your own master. Not all together a bad concept.
Mr. Campbell does include a bit of what I call "filler" in this book. He elaborates on the four levels of energy, Goddess healing, Divine healing, Emotional healing and Universal connection. He describes the nine principles of reiki, of which I am unfamiliar. It is my belief that he includes these "nine principles" in order to more fully explain how you can attune yourself. There is a lot of redundant information on how energy works.
The author does include a wonderful overview of the reiki ideals. Mr. Campbell, in great detail, discusses what the ideals mean to him and why we should meditate on them every day.
What I find amazing is that for as liberal as Mr. Campbell is in his theories of reiki, his process of a healing session is very structured, almost to the point of being confining. In this method of learning, it may not be a bad idea to have such structure, as there is not a person in front of you giving you feedback. However, it would be a benefit to readers of this book to speak to some reiki practitioners about different ways that you are able to trust that reiki works no matter what you do, how long you hold your hands in one place, or what images you envision in your mind's eye.
Mr. Campbell's hand positions, although effective, are not what are traditionally taught. I personally have no issue with this, as I believe that traditions should not be adhered to just because they are traditions. That being said, he teaches more of an energy field position, floating the hands about the body in many areas. It is my personal opinion that hands on is much more nurturing and less "spooky" than this method. The only concern I have is that Mr. Campbell does not make the distinction that there are other methods.
Over all, I'm pretty impressed with this book for the author's willingness to blow through the mystery of reiki, presenting it as an accessible, understandable energy method of healing. In spite of his matter of fact presentation, he does express that reiki is a spiritual experience, one filled with wonder and possibilities. The core of reiki is not lost in this breaking down of barriers to understanding.
