Although those who have dedicated themselves to the Healing power of Reiki may have various positions on this ancient healing technique, this book is well written and will inspire and engage all those interested in Reiki. I learned a great deal of her book and reflected on my own ideas.

Essential Reiki by Diane Stein has been the very top book on my required reading list for students for several years. I have purchased this book a few different times and have managed to pass it on to a scholarship student every time.

If you can only purchase ONE book on Reiki, this book is the one to get! The title says that it is a Complete Guide, and it truly is.

This book was recommended to me by my Reiki Teacher before beginning my Reiki Training. That was about 2 years ago and I still can't seem to put this book down. It is full of information. For anyone who wants to open their minds to Reiki this is book is an absolute must.

Good trainer's reference.

I have added this book to my others as a good reference for assembling Reiki training classes. As with all manuals of this type, the author presents the information from her perspective, based on her experience and expertise. The reader must take what works and leave the rest, which is fine. Stein is a fine author and instructor and I applaud her approach to opening the doors to Reiki. I found her negative references to male participation in this healing art unnecessary. It served to distract from her overall purpose and credibility of her text and was best left out of print.

I just recently read Eric Pearls book, :The Reconnection" and loved it. A friend, who works with Reconnecting (Dr. Gene Ang) recommended it to me. It is clear, and exciting to read about his journey with this amazing happening. You really can heal yourself with this energy and help to heal others. I urge everyone out there to explore this, and to read his book. You will be pleased that you did, and your life and others will be enriched.

I can recommend this book. I got warm hands just reading it, before I read about that phenomena in the book.. But why is there exercises in the book if it says in the end that you can't use it in real life? Is it because you have to take any of the very expensive courses in it?

Great book. Though he pushes his seminars and workshops, he admits anyone can learn to work with the energy on their own. I liked the writing syle.

I really want to give this book more stars, because I think there *is* some good information within its pages. But I can't. See, I have a really hard time accepting a spiritual message/lesson when it comes from someone who conducts himself in what appears to me to be an UNspiritual manner. This is what I think Pearl does throughout this book, and it put me off in a really big way.

I'm not saying he can't be human; that's fine. Drink, party, swear -- do whatever you want. But in extolling the virtues of his own energy modality he seems to love laughingly putting down countless others, as well as those who teach those modalities and the followers they attract. He also roundly lambastes the typical cost for (and functionality of) metaphysical seminars, but then proceeds to indicate that in order to really learn his modality one ought to attend his seminars -- which appear to start at the extremely steep cost of $800.00! In case you don't know, that is WAY more than most metaphysical seminars out there.

Another thing which troubled me was his declaration that evil does not exist, and that rituals (for protection and efficiency) are for the most part fear-based and needless. However, he never explains how he knows this to be true, giving us instead his seemingly authoritative position on it and encouraging us to follow along. This seems to me to be a negligent and dangerous stance to take, as I *do* believe darkness (and negativity, and evil) exists in the world and that all spiritual workers ought to be aware of it.

Look, I don't claim to know much about energy work, but I *can* tell when someone is being needlessly negative and rude when it's simply not warranted. There are many ways to skin a cat, as it were, and just because Pearl likes *his* way doesn't mean his way is superior (though he'll tell you differently) or that he knows better. Because that's simply not the case. It's also just unspeakably arrogant.

And so the end, I couldn't get past the tone long enough to embrace the message. I think Pearl really needs to work on his approach and his humility (if there is any). Because instead of delivering an exciting and potentially ground-breaking message, what he's done is come off as the kind of extremely elitist, myopic "spiritual leader" he claims to so disdain.

I can't recommend this. Sorry.

Originally I purchase the book with cd for myself. After reading the book and a month worth of using the cd to meditate I've decided to purchase additional books as Christmas gifts for family and friends. Whether you are a believer in mediation or not this book is definitely worth the price. The mediations on the cd are only 15 to 20 minutes long and truly relaxing. I have found myself on numerous occasions falling in to a peaceful night sleep before finishing the 20 minute night time mediations.

I love this cd. I know it's not a sleep cd but I listen to this at night when I'm going to bed. It has helped me a great deal with getting a good nights' sleep. I put it on and before I know it, I'm asleep. Nothing has ever worked like this for me. I have yet to get through the whole cd without falling asleep. My daughter just started using it because she has a hard time going to sleep and it works just as good for her. It is very calming and relaxing. I really like her voice. It's not annoying at all.

"Chakra Clearing" is a potent book by Doreen Virtue about healing by means of clearing the major energy centres in your body.

Guided meditations, foods and crystals are used as healing tools.

Also important is clearing away fear & worry in order to awaken your natural spiritual powers.

Great & effective book & CD!

Even better read together with NEXUS by Morrison & Singh, a spiritual novel & fascinating story of healing, & heart-centered transformational journeys.

I am rereading this book now for about the fourth time since I first bought it in 2001. I undertook the Medicine Wheel trainings offered by A. Villoldo through the Four Winds. He does a wonderful job in this book of capturing the beauty of this healing path. If you read this book simply for information on techniques, you will miss the point. The actual practice and ceremony is what brings this healing path to life. And once you have been through the initiaions, rereading the book recaptures the emotions and experiences of seeing through new eyes the world around you and inside you.
I remember what initially caught my attention was his statement that to the shaman, you are your body. It holds all your history, your emotions, your traumas, joys and experiences. As a massage therapist, undertaking my own healing quest has made me more sensitive to my clients and have found that the body always tells the truth.
I am happy that this work is made available to us.

my first intro to shamanic practice was with a person trained by villoldo. she was amazing, but after taking a short workshop w/ villoldo and reading his books, I now believe that the effectiveness of her work had nothing to do with him. I still believe that villoldo offers something to the field, even if his claims about where his techniques come from have turned out to be untruthful. after much work in this area my belief is this: everyone has abilities - EVERYONE. so, yes, just like everyone, villoldo has skills and talents in this area. the real question to ask whenever one meets a healer or a spiritual teacher is not "are their skills legitimate?" but "what are their ethics?" one's skills are only as good as the filter they come through (e.g., the personality and the ego issues of the healer/teacher.) villoldo, in my opinion, has serious ego and personality issues, and even if he is skilled, I believe these issues impact his work and his teaching. this is an interesting book, but I don't believe that it is necessarily true. also, his method for soul retrieval is way too structured for me -- I prefer sandra ingerman's approach.

The author gives pretty good instructions for performing the meditation he describes. But he isn't quite as organized as I'd have liked him to be. I found myself constantly going back to the text to find out what I was supposed to do next. He have some cautions which were highly specific and didn't apply to me, then left it vague as to details on about knowing when you were supposed to move on to the next chi point. I kept feeling like I should buy more of his books to get more data, but resisted the temptation, thought I'd try his method first.

Had to take a break from meditation because of increasing migraines. He warned about that, but pushing through when you're in that much pain isn't an option if you want to show up for work. Coincidence? I'll try the method again to find out.

The good news is he does give a lot of how to advice, and you really can work his method on your own with just this book. It is consistent with other Taoist meditation books I have read, so further study and a good acupuncturist might be a good idea if you are serious about this.

13 energy centers of the body

1. A true smile is a sign of love, a transmitter of energy which has a warming, healing effect. In China, the Taoist taught that a constant inner smile, a smile to oneself, insure health, happiness, and longevity. Smiling to yourself is like basking in love.

2. Points & Energy Centers: 1) Tan-Tien - Chi Chung (navel) 2) Kuan-Yuan (sperm place - men & ovarian place - women) 3) Hui-Yin (Perineum) 4) Chang-Chiang (Coccyx) 5) Ming-Men 6) Chi-Chung 7) Yu-Chen 8) Pai-Hui (Crown) 9) Ying-Tang (between eyebrowses) 10) Hsuan-Ying (palate) 11) Hsuan-Chi 12) Chuan-Chung (heart) 13) Chung-Kung (solar plexus) Direct your vision (thought and intent and chi) to the point you wish to active, and concentrate your mind on that point in the body. Do you create a visual image of the energy point in your mind. Instead concentrate thought and intent at that point.

3. Tan-Tien (Navel) The navel servers as a generator of electricity that supplies all the other points. As blood and chi are drawn to this point a deep rhythmic breathing is established, and the entire mid-section of the body becomes a huge pump, vigorously circulating the chi and blood throughout the organism. This circulation distributes the life substances and relieves the heart of its heavy burden. If you concentrate on the navel for a long-time and do not feel any energy, change your focus to the Ming-Men, the point opposite the navel on the spine. This helps the energy rise to the top of the head and down the front of the body to the feet. The experience of chi is different for everybody. For high blood pressure focus on the navel, it will help reduce pressure. Don't focus on the midbrowe or crown because that will increase blood pressure.

4. The second energy place is the Kuan-Yuan. To locate the point place your hand on your stomach with your thumbs at your navel. Sexually energy can be used to greatly increase the circulating of your chi.

5. The third energy center, Hui-Yin or perineum, the gate of life and death is found in the lower part of the trunk amidst the endings of many blood vessels and nerve endings. If you have congestion in chest or heart pain as a result of concentrating on this point shift your focus to the Ming-men. The Ming-men is the chi safety valve. Concentration on this point can often lead to vibration or warmeth.

6. The fourth energy center, back channel, the governor, Chang-Chiang, Coccyx is a very important point because it is here that energy is either returned to the body or lost. When the generative power is returned, it passes through the back channel into the spinal cord and then into the brain. This has been called the Passage door to the door of life and death because it is here that the warm current is said to enter the central nervous system.

7. Fifth energy point, Ming-Men (opposite of navel point), door of life. Ming-men is the mid-point of the kidney, L2 and L3 of the vertebrae. The Ming-men is the harmony point, containing Yin power. When you concentrate on this point power rise up to the head or descends to the feet. Concentrate on the Ming-men is power suddenly surges towards the head.

8. Sixth energy point, Chi Chung (opposite of the solar plexus on the spine). Those with diabetes may find that concentration on this point will help them to lower their blood sugar level. Allergy sufferers may also find relief by concentrating here.

9. Seventh energy point, Yu-Chen, back of the neck, the cerebellum. This part of the brain controls breathing, heartbeat, and various functions associated with automatic nervous system. People who have shoulder and upper back pains may find that the power will not be able to flow beyond those areas, at least will be slowed so that it take much longer for it to reach the head. If power builds up in the brain you may experience pain, nausa, illusions, irritability, insomnia, mood swings, and sleepiness.

10. Eighth energy point, Pai-Hui (Niwan) is the crown or pineal body and located above the mid-brain. The Niwan governs the hindbrain, hearing, body rhythm, equilibrium, perception of light through the eyes and skin, and is the superior counter-support of the brain and spinal chord. When power passes freely through this area, you will be afflicted less by illusion, you will be able to concentrate better, and your head will feel lighter. Light is associated with chi flow through this energy point. Those people with weak kidneys or sex drive see black. Those with liver disease see green. People with heart disease see red. Lung disease is expressed as white. Spleen and stomach illness is indicated in yellow and gall bladder disease is black.

11. Do not spend more than a month concentrating on one energy point.

12. The nineth energy center, Yin-Tang, point between the eyes, original cavity of the spirit. Yin-Tang is the master endoctrine control gland, regulating growth, gonadal function, the adrenals and the thyroid. Yin-Tang is said to govern the forebrain, the right eye, as well as being the seat of love, compassion, knowledge, integration or the seat of intelligence, conceptual memory(reading, thinking, studying), linear sequential time consciousness, abstract and conceptual thinking, compulsiviness, racism, sexism, and paranoia. The pituitary (Yin Tang) and the pineal gland (Niwan) are extremely important when completing routes, for it is at these points you can check power. When you concentrate on the navel and the store power, energy suddenly rises up and passes through the Niwan (pineal gland). The next check point is the Yin Tang (the pituitary gland. The rest of the points are not sensitive to test for power. To complete the route, the power has to flow down from the soft palate, through the tongue, into and through the throat, the Hsuan-chi, the Chuan-chung (Heart), the Chung-wan (solar plexus) and finally the navel. The completion of the microcosm energy cycle returns chi back to the navel cultivating internal power.

13. The tenth Energy Center, Tongue to Palate. Even though the palate is constructed of soft bone it takes a considerable period of sustained effort for most practitioners to penetrate it and complete the route. The palate links the front and back channels, and the tongue on the palate links the switch that enables the energy to flow in complete circuit.

14. The eleventh energy center, Hsuan-chi (throat) is the energy center of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Most people feel calm and less worried when this energy flows from the navel up to the throat and to the tongue and with no congestion in the chest.

15. The twelfth energy center is Shun-Chung, heart. Concentrating at the heart leads to great stores of energy, and so many people tend to concentrate longer on this point.

16. The thirteenth energy center, Chun-Kung (Solar Plexus). This area is the frontal site of many power centers (spleen, adrenal, pancreas, and stomach).

17. Always bring energy back to your navel. Collecting energy gathers up excess chi in the body and stores it in the navel. Gather protects your body organs from accumulating too much energy.

If you want to understand what Taoist meditation is all about, and help yourself avoid the many dangerous obstacles of this very unique and wonderful - yet very serious - practice, you should at least read the book i suggested, as well. I can see people are deriving some benefit from Chia's book, but just from reading the table of contents and the first few pages, I can honestly recommend that you should study the methods of cultivating essential nature and eternal life from an immortal master of the advanced training methods, which Chia speaks of in the sample. The benefits you will derive from Charles Luk's translation of "The methods of cultivating essential nature and eternal life," called "Taoist Yoga..." will far surpass anything you will attain from Chia's, and incidentally help you avoid the many potential problems that can develop in this type of spiritual training. There are also some misconceptions about Taoist meditation in Chia's book that I can see right off the bat, and if you take my word, and check out Luk's book, you will at least be able to practice Chia's more effectively, and less dangerous! Take this sincere advice from someone who hasn't read but the first few pages of Chia's book, but who has actual first hand experience with the TRUE (complete, as opposed to Chia's incomplete) mechanisms of the generative force, vitality, spirit, the microcosmic orbit, and the original cavity of spirit, etc., etc., etc.. One thing I can't tell from the book is whether the whole method is based on turning back the flow of generative fluid, which is what real Taoist meditation is based on. One definite gross misconception that is readily available to view in the sample of Chia's is that Taoist meditation is not dependent on stopping the flux of thoughts in your mind while practicing. If you are TRULY SERIOUS about spiritual growth, progress, and prolonging and enjoying your life, then you must obtain and study Luk's book (AT LEAST as a companion to this one), which also warns against taking advice from the wrong guide, on numerous occasions. If you are NOT serious about attaining the many wonderful benefits that this advanced training method can give, I suggest you not practice Tao Yoga at all, and focus on something less serious for now. Those are my sincerest words, and I stand by them. I feel a responsibility to at least tell you my perspective, so you can make a more intelligent, wise decision.

I found the book to be adolescent in its understanding of science. Auras and all, I might believe in, but seeing the body on the cellular level, and watching the electrical messaging of the brain etc. goes beyond belief. Connectedness and universal access to information or ideas, perhaps. But healing through photographs while not seeing auras on television people does not equate. If you can connect and "see" through an image based solely on the interaction of light with matter then a photo image and a television image should be equivalent.

In addition Hawkins (the rocker) himself disputes Adam's claim that he healed his pancreatic cancer.

The further I look the more I learn that Adam et al are making a tremendous amount of money out of his quest to bring self-healing through energy manipulation to the world. That said, I did learn something from the book. Drink water, and breath deeply, it really does help.

The book is better and more ambitious than anything I could come up with at 19...

I have read all of Adam's books and met him in person at a weekend intensive and he is "the real deal." He is honest, forthright and tries very hard to make sure everyone gets an understanding of what he is doing and how they can change their own lives. As a licensed massage therapist and Reiki Master for over 12 years, I was very impressed with Adam. As for the reviewer who said Hawkins denies Adam healing him, I have seen two TV interviews with Hawkins praising Adam and crediting him with still being alive!

I purchased this book a week ago and have been making smoothies everyday since. Yes, there are a variety of ingredients, but I found most of them at my grocery store. I enjoy trying the pairings I would never think of, such as in the adios anemia where prunes are paired with bananas and vanilla soy milk. It was very creamy and I couldn't even taste prunes . My young daughters even enjoyed this and others which included silken tofu. Everyday they want to pick the smoothie I make next and can't wait to try it. My daughters are excited about eating healthy food, what could be better than that! I know soon we will have our favorites and it will be easier to keep the ingredients on hand.

Since I had been so happy with the Corpening sisters' first smoothie book, I was eager to give this second one a try, too. Unfortunately, I find these *specialty* smoothies quite off-putting. *All* of the smoothies are made with healthful ingredients, and to imply that some are particularly beneficial for your immune system, heart, energy level, decreasing stress, etc., is just plain misleading! Then there are separate smoothies for men, women, and children, including one calling for breast milk or formula! As a single mom, I want to make just one smoothie that is suitable for both myself and my son! This is just plain silly! I'm sure that the majority of these recipes could be altered so that you could/would serve them to everybody in your family at the same time, (my son does not want to share a smoothie called "pms potion" with me!) but why bother when the recipes in the first book are already completely drinker friendly.

fun - but Healthy?? for EVERY lifestyle?

Review Date: 2005-04-09
Sixteen of the recipes require sorbet, sherbet, or frozen yogurt. Two more call for Gatorade, and three more after that are cocktails. These smoothies may be healthy TREATS, but they are not healthy enough to replace meals.

Also, twenty-six recipes call for dairy. I realize that vegan is a less common lifestyle. Still. The authors describe almond and rice and soy milk in the Binders section, but they do not recommend which to substitute in a particular recipe. Furthermore, the authors do not suggest anything to replace yogurt. Soy yogurt has a strong soy flavor. Would more banana work instead? Would soy milk ice cubes? Do the other ingredients mask the soy flavor? The authors don't say.

I've only made the Virility Vibe so far. It's not bad, not startlingly good, but that may be because the banana I used was less than perfectly ripe, but then how often are perfectly ripe bananas an option?

Rereading my review, it seems negative to me, but this isn't a bad book. It just doesn't have much of what I was looking for: vegan recipes healthy enough to eat everyday, say, for breakfast.

As an aside, one needn't make pear nectar; no recipe is provided in the book. Most groceries stock it.

This is a nice little book for anyone new to Reiki. Although informed by having lived in Japan, while teaching and researching Reiki, Petter most definitely has written a book about Western Reiki. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, and we should embrace our lineages for all the depth that they offer us.

This is a concise guide with some really great points and suggestions that it offers. I would love to see Petter write a larger, more in-depth Reiki guide; his writing comes from the heart, as does his love of Reiki.

I teach Reiki and ONLY use books by William Rand and Frank Arjava Petter. They are the ONLY writers that teach traditional Reiki unblemished with Wiccan rhetoric like Diane Stein's garbage. Only trust Rand and Petter if you truly want to understand Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki and the beautiful eastern mysticism of Dr Mikao Usui's System of Healing

Excellent book for beginners and those experienced in Reiki

This is one of the best books on Reiki I have read. Some past reviewers have given negative reviews for reasons that are not true. Recent research has dispelled the traditional history Takata spread about Usui being a Christian and other myths. Frank Arjava Petter was one of the forerunners in seeking the true historical background behind Reiki. This book gives an authentic portrayal of Reiki, its history, and its healing capabilities. Useful techniques are given beyond the average Reiki book. While Reiki is not Qigong per say, it resembles it in many ways and indeed could be termed a "lazy man's Qigong" as the author states. This is one of the most real authors I have ever read on Reiki who says it like it is. He shows himself to be as human as the rest of us and ever striving in spiritual aspiration. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Reiki and as a perfect supplement for those starting with this wonderful healing modality. Coming from a skeptic, Reiki does work and this book will add much richness to your Reiki experience. Wish I could give it more than five stars!

This is just a great book. It has helped me understand the origins of Reiki and has enhanced my working knowledge of Reiki. The style is easy to read and is laced with humour.

This is a very good book and worth the time/money

i know personally of the author who is very sincere in his efforts to help others. he had the right background to present a book on the subject....

this book is a no nonsense basic intro to reiki. qigong while different, has relevance to reiki and discussing it is not inappropriate. the author is not attempting to teach qigong. the author also includes quite a bit of info on his own personal experience with reiki which may or may not seem relevant to the reader. i have found it most helpful of all the reiki books i have read and get a little more each time i pick it up. i am a usui and karuna reiki master.
Thanks!

The clear and simple structure of the book helped as an awakening to my being. Now I am more aware through my feelings and emotions about imbalances on the chakras and how to balance them. the essay section was very enlightening for my being. The exercises and meditations section was very helpful to balance the chakras. This book has become one of my bed-side reference source. I feel this book as a friendly advisor in my journey through earth.

This book did exactly what it set out to do and more. I am fairly new with the chakras myself, knowing only bits about each one. This book not only gave me vast and key information on each chakra, but also gave insight on problems you can have if they are unbalanced and includes tips and meditations on how to improve each one. The book also includes a chakra chart in the end that summarizes key points and things to remember on each one plus a section on "essays" (2-3 pages tops) where he gives you his own take on chakras. I became interested in chakras a few months ago and this is honestly one of the best resources I have found on it. Pond not only gives you just the right amount of information to leave you satisfied (as it is a fairly short book), but also gently guides you into finding out how to awaken different parts of yourself. I was truly impressed. I highly reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about chakras.

I really got a lot from reading this book. I helped me connect with, identify, and disperse the energies I had already been feeling.... It is great for those who have never heard of the chakras. I would definitely recommend this book to any mature reader.

For beginners only

For true beginners, I'm sure this has value. For anyone who has been doing yoga, the Kabbalah, whatever, for years, this book is old news. Very few exercises are included, and it's too short to help anyone on a more advanced path, IMO.

Would not recommend this as a beginning chakra book.

I am brand new to chakras, and after reading the reviews I thought this would be an excellent book to start with. I started reading it as soon as I received it. I was extremely disappointed. I MADE myself keep reading, until I was up to about the 5th chakra, and then decided I wouldn't torture myself anymore. I picked up another book I had ordered on chakras, started reading it, and was immediately fascinated by the subject. The other book was by Ambika Wauters, I think her introductory book, called The Book of Chakras; Discover the Hidden Forces Within You. The Book of Chakras: Discover the Hidden Forces Within You She is very informative. But the best part was, she's easy to understand, but doesn't talk like she's on the playground. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it, but I didn't like the style of this guy at all. After reading it, it just sounded like garbage to me. This book is very simplistic and informal; maybe I just need a more intellectual type approach, I don't know. I was looking for a beginner's book, but definitely not this one. I'm glad I got one that was really cheap!

Possibly, this book might be good for children. I guess I felt this was written more at a child's level; very minimal useful information is given, as far as I'm concerned. (I realize the author specifically says this is for beginners! But that's what I am!)

A Healer's Book

Review Date: 2008-08-31
In my opinion, this book is most suited to the "healers". I am only part-way through it right now, but thoroughly agree with what I have read so far because I have either experienced it or it makes logical sense from where I am on my personal journey. The book is slow reading, not difficult, but slow if you really want to understand what Barbara has written as she combines science with metaphysical beliefs. I cannot compare this book to her first book because, although I purchased her first book years ago, I honestly have not read it yet. "Light Emerging" was recommended by my master teacher. Barbara has spent significant time studying the auric fields of people vs. behavior.

I plan to return to this review at a later time and update it with additional information, but I see it as a valuable resource for a healer (for both healing self and healing others). By the way, if you don't know it already, healing is not limited to the physical body. There is emotional healing and spiritual healing as well. ALL are important. The healthiest people are those who are balanced on all levels.

This 342-page book explains a lot about energy, both scientifically and metaphysically. If you have already done significant reading, this book expands on a lot of it, such as explaining the chakras and the movement of energy throughout the system. As Barbara goes through each chakra, she explains how you likely behave if that chakra is fully functioning or if it is blocked. Quite a few illustrations within the book visually show you the energy movements within people who exhibit certain types of behavior, and the movements of energy within groups of 2 people exchanging energies at certain levels. This is one way in which this book is different from many other chakra and energy vibrational books. An example is an illustration of a couple in dispute and how they energetically resolved the dispute. Barbara has the developed ability to see the auric fields, as some do, and she supplements her writing with experiences she has had with clients. In this instance, she explains the energy movement in 3 stages of the therapy between the couple, as well as illustrates it in picture form, so you can follow what is happening energetically between the couple throughout the process.

Here is a little tid-bit for you from the book: Barbara mentions that Dr. Robert Beck, a nuclear physicist, found that all healers exhibit the brain-wave patterns of 7.8 - 8 Hz while they are giving healings, the same fluctuation of the earth's magnetic energy field (the Schumann waves). The assumption is that the healers are synching up with the earth's magnetic field when doing healing. Dr. John Zimmerman, founder and president of Bio-Electro-Magnetics Institute, found through additional research, that once healers have linked with the Schumann waves, the right and left hemispheres of their brain have become balanced with each other and show a 7.8 - 8 Hz alpha rhythm. After they link with the patient for some time through laying on of hands, they are able to link the client in with the same earth's energy magnetic pulsations.

Good book. If you are into metaphysical energy and healing, I think you will enjoy it and find it very informative. If you are NOT into metaphysical energy and healing, you will likely not understand it and may get nothing from it, especially if you are not open to this area of study.

i thought that this was a very personal and important read after getting through brennan's first book, hands of light. this is another textbook in the brennan healing science (which is an amazingly comprehensive and interesting healing modality). light emerging is really speaking to me at this time in my life because it really addresses the individual's personal healing (or self healing) process. it outlines 7 steps to healing, and can be applied to spiritual and physical healing. it goes into more detail about the how we sometimes go out of alignment with our soul's purpose, and the specific spiritual structure of our light body. i found this to be really informative and comforting during a period of intense spiritual growth and change. thanks barbara!

Unique Book, But May Not Appeal To Everyone

Light Emerging is far thicker than Ms. Brennan's original work, Hands of Light, yet it doesn't appeal to everyone as much as her original.

The positive side to Light Emerging is the deeper explanations of an overall way to be healthy and more drawings. Ms. Brennan incorporates some of the Pathwork material, such as higher self, lower self and mask, and brings up many important and untapped potentials, such as cord healing, energy defense patterns in relationship and the hara alignment.

I think what disappoints people is that it does not give the whole teaching, as Hands of Light did. Hands of Light was essentially a detailed workbook and guide for energy healing. Whereas Light Emerging is a step back more, and doesn't get into the nitty gritty, like how to do chakra cord healings, or hara healings. Light Emerging has alot more channeling in it compared to Hands of Light.

Barbra Brennan is a stalwart when it comes to energy healing. If you are a healer, her book is a must have. The downside is that its missing some keys that probably would have made it more satisfying.
