Best Instructions on Taoist Magick in English!

Ok, back in 1999/2000 I was all about trying to find books in the enlglish language that gave the reader step-by-step working techniques in Taoist Magick/Sorcery. Some unfamiliar with Zheng Yi Taoism pass off Taoism as just a "form of philosophy". They were never exposed to the Zheng Yi magickal side that involves registries of spirits and gods and demons, and techniques on how to command these celestial beings to command millions of spirits under their command. The paranormal side is something that Paul Dong covers in some of his books, but this series is THE best to put it ALL TOGETHER! This is actually one of the best metaphysical systems over all complete with healing, qigong, inner alchemy, yoga, psychic development, magical techniques, metaphysical understanding of the multi-verse, psychology, treatment and diagnosis of the whole spectrum disorders with Qigong medicine, energy work, energy anatomy and physiology, etc, etc, everything, EVERYTHING!!!!!

Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson has done us a favor by being the first to present such powerful information in the English Language at such a level. Before him, you would have had to speak Mandarin to learn such material.

He deserves over 5 stars. I hope that in the future, he will take me in as a personal apprentice!!!

If your into Oriental Medicine, Internal marial arts, qigong/yoga, Eastern Metaphysics and magick, then THIS ONE....THIS SERIES...THIS AUTHOR...IS...THE...RIGHT...ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Former student of several Taoist masters, founder of the Universal Healing Tao System, and director of the Tao Garden Integrative Medicine Health Spa and Resort Mantak Chia presents Energy Balance Through The Tao: Exercises For Cultivating Yin Energy, an exercise book that incorporates both the Western principles of physical fitness and the Eastern principles of balancing body, mind, and spirit. The goal of Tao Yin is to revitalize body, mind, and spirit by balancing internal and external energies, and help the practitioner become more pure and full of energy. Energy Balance Through The Tao offers 45 Tao Yin exercises to Western readers, each fully illustrated with black-and-white photographs. The exercises promote flexibility, and once mastered, foster improved strength in movements and standing postures. A superb supplement to exercise and health regimens, offering ideal exercises for warm up and cool down during workouts.

Cultivation of Our Yin Energy is Something That We All Need!
Helpful Votes: 24 out of 26 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-03
Many of the BIG problems in Health, Psychology and Relationships can be said to originate in an excess of Yang energy. Not just the excesses of aggression, winning, and dominating, but the whole frenetic race toward ever more energy draining and attenton demanding multi-tasking. Our society is becoming progressively more hypomanic and it sometimes seems that it is only a matter of time before everyone will start to show symptoms of attention deficit disorder! Some of the illnesses that are becoming more prevalent, including some of the disorders of immune function, digestion and thermoregulation, can also be thought of as consequences of a rampant and unbalanced Yang force.

It is desperately important for us to try and balance those excesses in our own lives, and it is a tough call with so many demands on us. The exercises in this book are all designed to balance the Yin and Yang energies of our bodies. Cultivating Yin energy is particularly important for men and these exercises really fit the bill. What I have always liked about Mantak Chia's work, is that he tries to provide explanations for the exercises, rather than just providing a catalog of techniques. And some of the exercises can have potent effects.

Some of the exercises require some strength and flexibility, so I recommend that people should have a discussion with their health care provider before starting this kind of new program.

This is a reprint of the book Tao Yin: Excercises for Revitalization, Health & Longevity, which was published in Thailand in 1999. There are only some minor differences between the two.

If you don't have the earlier book, you will find a lot of valuable material here.

Connie Grauds continues to be one of the most insightful and sensitive writers and practitioners of our day. In "The Energy Prescription" the pharmicist and Amazon trained shamana uses her unique "dual process" to give us new understandings and approaches to age old problems such as anxiety, depression, insomnia and sexuality.

Written from the heart yet appealing to the brain Connie's balanced approach using the wisdom of the ancient shamans and advances of modern medicine is both thought provoking and reassuring.

The perfect practical sequel to "Jungle Medicine" you will be compelled "to find this same 'energia espirita' in nature where you live."

The Best of Traditional/Alternative Health plus Science

This is one of the very best books I've read in the area of health and spirituality. It's easy to understand, well written, and puts together information you can find in pieces in many other places or verify from other sources. What appeals most to me personally is the spiritual core which is not "religious", which she integrates with immensely practical health practices involving "breath" "water" "relationships" "nature" etc. The concept of "susto"--a fear-based state of being--as the source of energy depletion makes complete sense to me. And she suggests many ways to get out of that state into what she calls "sustainable being."

East Meets West Healing

Good start to understand Eastern and Western medicine.
5 stars for his background layout of those.
However, he fails to do indexing at the end of the books.
Such as page 17, when he refers to Robert Becker, "The Body Electric".
no appendix, no index, no suggested reading whatsoever.
I hope his next edition of this book will include those to
become more professional readings.

As you many know, there are many QI Gong masters in this planet,
some are faked , some are hunting for money, BUT some are real!!
For more information about Qi theory and history, I guess those below books are good reference.
Encounter With Qi, by Eisenberg
Healing Promise of Qi, by Roger

For me, the real Qi-gong master who still living now is Lin Hou-Sheng, in Shanghai ,China.
He himself is a chinese medicine doctor who proves lots of his works in scientific terms.
His Tai Ji Qi Gong 18 movements of Lin Hou-Sheng is also great!!
his English translated books "300 questions on Qigong" is excellent.
You can try to do those exercises to get in touch with QI
it's real but can not be explained with simple vocabulary.

Don't believe in anything about "Qi" , until you touch it with
your own feeling!!

This book has inspired me!

Enlightening book with a lot to take in (and offer). Leaves you with much to think about. The interplay of relationships between friends, family, co-workers, plus multiple self-insights. Things you know deep down but may have been unable to articulate. Lots of Aha! moments. Great book - that may have you going back for a double take.

Accessible,useful Reiki information
Helpful Votes: 23 out of 26 total.
Review Date: 2002-11-09
Having about 20 years of study and practice in various healing systems, I recommend this book as a practical and comprehensive tool for the study of Reiki and life energy. It will be of interest to newcomers for the history and basic techniques of Reiki. It will be instructive to practitioners and teachers through the case histories and integration with chakra energetics model. The knowledge presented is in the tradition of the original method which provides energy balancing at all levels-physical,mental,emotional, spiritual. This book illustrates the on-going development of Reiki as a growing complentary modality in the healing arts. John Harvey Gray is one of the original US Masters and has dedicated his life to sharing and teaching Reiki through classes and the establishment of Reiki wellness centers.

The Real Skinny on Reiki
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-22
This author studied under Takata. He will give you information not available in other books. Most of the books on Reiki are either repetitive of what's been written, or are the author's own theories. This book is neither. For anyone who has been attuned and is interested in Reiki's History, this book is a highly recommended sourcebook.

Note that the author disagrees with Modern Reiki Masters in that he states that personal, in person, attunements from an authentic Reiki Master who has ALSO been attuned in person from another Reiki Master (the lineage) is the only way to go, to be attuned to real, pure Reiki.

MRM's will argue that you can get attuned from a video, from the Internet, or even attune yourself (the usual babble and claims.). Nonsense. Something may happen, but It ain't Reiki.

If I'd pick a half-dozen books on Reiki that I would consider essential, this book would be about #3. Learn about Takata and Reiki from someone who was there during her peak years.

Master Petter has done it again. Given us a succinct manual that touches on history, techniques and a plethora of important detailed photographs to aid us in our practice.

I recommend this book along with his Usui Manual, The Spirit of Reiki, The Japanese Art of Reiki and Quantum Touch as the most important books any Reiki Practitioner/Master Teachers should have.

(I mention the Quantum Touch as it adds an added connection that really gives a boosted connection to Reiki healing)

I am a new Reiki Master/T myself however I realise this is a continuous journey of BEing Reiki.

Bless yourself by adding this to your ReiKi Library.

This book gives very specific Reiki treatments for different ailments used by one of the most prominent Reiki healers. I've been doing the Weight Loss (Diabetic) treatment on myself. So far it has had the curious effect of stabalizing my emotions when I work on the pancrease. This book will not work for you unless you have had the Reiki transmissions, but it is very easy to use if you have had some training.
