this is an excellent chakra book. mercier's other book, the chakra bible is also a must have. You will love it!!

Before reading this book, I had at best a passing interest in the subject of the chakras. Many of the other books I considered purchasing that dealt with this subject, were dense and difficult to understand. This book however is neither.

The Chakras is a concise yet comprehensive treatment of the topic of the chakras. It is written for your modern day person and draws information from a variety of different teaching systems and cultures. The result is a synthesis of the most important and well-studied "new age" ideas and concepts. This is much more than a book about chakras and touches upon diverse subjects including the use of color and sound for healing, as well as shamanism. The illustrations are simply gorgeous and the text includes many useful techniques for meditation and visualization. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in expanding their perceptual horizons and learning about the chakras.

FYI- Knowledge of the chakras is critical for the understanding of shamanism and Toltec sorcery. I also recommend: 1) Shaman, Healer, Sage-Alberto Villoldo. This book gives a shamanic description of the chakras and explains how this knowledge fits in to the healing practices of shamans.2) The Path- Esmeralda Arana. Explains how knowledge of the Chakras plays a role in sorcery.

Although every book that I own on the charkas is very valuable, each one has something special that sets it apart. Mercier's book is no exception.

The introduction explains the concept of auric energy fields and the next chapter discusses the focused energy fields, the vortices within these fields that are the chakras and how they are connected to the endocrine and central nervous systems and the spine.

The Indian tradition is discussed next, with reference to Yoga, and then each chakra is investigated in depth with beautiful illustrations and the appropriate meditations.

The book includes a chapter on charkas and sound - each chakra responds to the primal vibration of sound through mantras, chanting, toning, singing, musical scales and specific instruments.

The chapter A New Awareness explores beyond the 7 well-known chakras into a new state of consciousness. Here the additional charkas are discussed: Earth Star, Navel (hara), Causal, Soul Star and Stellar Gateway that exist as potentialities within the sequence of the seven.

The chapter Chakras and Sacred Stones looks at the correspondences with crystals whilst the last chapter deals with healing the body and mind.

The text is richly enhanced by brilliant paintings, photographs and illustrations, including illustrated exercises, and the book concludes with a bibliography and index.

I highly recommend this book if you want to learn all there is to know about chakras. Drawing on scientific research and a western approach, it explains the seven major chakras in detail using colorful photography and charts. It also explains the 21 minor chakras. I especially enjoyed learning how to nourish and heal my chakras through the many meditation, breathing, and visualization exercises. To my delight, it also includes a detailed account of how to heal your chakras using crystals, pendulums, colors and sound. My health and general well being have improved after doing the exercises and has given me a new perspective of how I view the world. I feel more at peace with myself and know I will refer back to this book time and time again.

The other day I woke up and felt somewhat sad and depressed. Before I even got out of bed, I reached over to my bookstand and picked up "Channeled Messages from a Paralled Universe" by Connie Russert. As I read the inspiring, comforting, and assuring words and felt the loving presence of Paularyo, I could feel the heavy mood beginning to lift. I got up and went into my medicine wheel to meditate, thinking about the exercise I had just done from the book about connecting with my "Ka". Then I wrote this:

"Dear Beloved Spirit of the Light, Teach me the Way of Love."

The answer I then received was this:

"We are with you, and we know in your heart you yearn for the Truth. Let us show you the Way of Light by merging with your Essence. When you drop into your heart you will always find Peace, the Peace that surpasses understanding. The human mind, or Ego, cannot comprehend the Truth of Love, for the human mind is merely meant to be a servant to the Will of God, which is Love. God's Will is Love for you. Love holds not beliefs or judgements or criticisms. It merely is the Truth of your existence. It merely IS. Love is the only Truth, the one Truth and the only reality. Nothing else is real. Anything other than Love is a fabrication of the Mind/Ego."

This book quickly helped me tap into my own higher wisdom, the place that Paularyo refers to as the "Ka". I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to connect to this place within themselves from which so often we can be distracted as we get caught up in the challenges of our daily lives. This book brings you back to yourself and the place in yourself where peace resides. A must read for every seeker of Truth.

I finished your book in two sittings (and with a 60 hour+ per week job that's no small feat!). AWESOME information.
I did not find answers telling me what to do, but more a gentle guidance toward the direction of finding my own way - in your writings. The book makes you think and examine where you are in your own life and empowers you to move forward on that path. Thank you so much, Connie!

I appreciate how clear this book makes the path to connecting with your soul and to higher realms. It is well organized, thorough ...and the exercises are a pleasure to do, as well as easy to integrate, even when time is limited. It has resources to improve functioning in anyone's life ..in a way that flows easily. And reading the messages from the Master Spirit Guides feels like a breath of fresh air. I am ordering one for each of my kids, to have as a resource for a connected life.

I've met and studied with the author, Wen Mei Yu, and she is the real thing. We are lucky to have this book, especially in English. She teaches here in Los Angeles and also does healing work for cancer patients at UCLA.

The first half of the book gives a concise review of the basics of chinese energy work and esoteric Taoism. It is laid out in a matter of fact way without any fantasizing or superstitious sillyness.

The second half of the book is a methodical training manual for a powerful chi gung form. Regular practice, even without a teacher, yields results to the capacity of the student. This may be the best way to really learn to experience the flow and feeling of "chi" if you don't have access to a master guide to help.

Highly recommended.

This is not, thankfully, another generic book on "chi practice". Author Wen Mei Yu Introduces us to and instructs us in a very specific form of Chi Kung: Wild Goose Chi Kung. Yu was a student of Madam Yan Mei Jun, the legendary grandmaster of this popular and complex school of energy cultivation.

Every necessary topic is covered in this volume, including history (photos of Grandmaster Yan Mei Jun are included), philosophy (this is a Taoist school), Theory (very detailed, many diagrams with explanations), and of course the COMPLETE 64 movement Wild Goose form.

A note on the instructional photographs in this volume: every technique is illustrated by several photographs. The pictures do an excellent job of communicating direction, movement, posture, et cetera. Yu also takes the time with more complex techniques to show common mistakes practitioners should avoid. This is probably one of the best books on physical chi practice out there. I found it to be thorough but not cluttered. Every piece of information fit, and the author's descriptions and explanations were easlily understood in the context of traditional belief and practice.

Let's be short and to the point: To date, this is the best available book on Wild Goose Qigong. Wen Mei Yu's set of three accompanying videos, sold through her website, are also of the highest standard and all I wish is that other "masters" flaunting videos put forth the same production quality.

This book describes the philosophy and the practice of Wild Goose Chi Gung in a very clear and specific way that lay people can understand. She clearly describes the hand and other movements, the points of the meridians and the positions of Wild Goose Chi Gung. I highly recommend this book.

lots of great, simple recipes are included, with nutritional info for each. the honey-dijon chicken is our favorite; the recipes use regular ingredients in novel ways so one doesn't miss the texture added by fats. i hope the publisher re-issues this - we need more cookbooks like this.

I would concur with the review above. Most low-fat cookbooks leave much to be desired -- unless of course you have a penchant for dog food. This one has wonderful recipes that are easy to prepare and, in some cases, nice enough for company. We especially like the Bombay Chicken, the Mexican chicken soup, and the Spanish rice.

I bought this book last year and my wife took it to heart. The recipes give you a guide to very fine tasting food at very low calorie intake. When we followed this book for dinner we both lost 1/2 pound per day and stayed with it. Then we got lazy and went back to our old ways. Now back to the book. Now, this is realy good food. The meals will fill you up and you would think that you went to a very expensive restaurant. You must shop for the cooking items and spices, but the meals are easy to make. Recommended prep time and cooking times are very accurate. And of course you can make some adjustments by subtituting items here and there.

This is a TERRIFIC book! Not only are the recipes easy and quick to prepare, but they actually taste good! In addition, the ingredients are every day items that you can find at your grocery store...and they don't cost an arm and a leg. I own quite a few cookbooks - this one is my favorite.

I learned a lot from listening to this tape. She combines self management and a metaphysical approach to working with our emotional experience.

Giving emotions the specialized attention they deserve (a word which oddly applies when emotions are viewed in the way she presents them here), Karla McLaren helps those of us who are emotionally sensitive--and know it!--to manage our feelings and our lives, and to better understand ourselves and others. She helps us tune into the energies of, and messages conveyed by, the individual emotions--including suicidal urges, which are much more manageable and less overpowering when demystified in her unique way.

This view and explanation of how our emotions affect us personally as people and as healers has been an eye-opener for me. Our society is so focused on the logical brain and rewarded for logical thinking that some people cannot feel anything. They cannot feel their emotions or if they do feel them, they suppress them as wrong or out of control. It is not just the body, mind and spirit we need to balance and count on. It is the body, mind, "emotions" and spirit which will guide us to make healthy choices for our lives. I want to thank Karla for placing one more tool back on our plate.

I've finally learned how to welcome my emotions without feeling the need to suppress or express them in an unhealthy manner. Karla teaches a wonderful technique for creating a santuary within yourself so you can stay in your body instead of becoming numb when circumctances become overwhelming. I really love the part about using anger to burn contracts in order to end difficult relationships and behaviors.

I have shelves of books on health and energy work and this book is fantastic. I keep it close by as a reference. If you are interested in the mind/body connection, keeping yourself grounded and healthy, and keeping your work & home environment clear of negative energy, this book is a must have. Written clearly with new info you won't find anywhere else. Great section on auras and the body's energy system. A must have!!

I had heard this woman on HayHouseRadio, and gave the book a shot after going to her webpage and learning more about her. It was a GREAT FIND!

Written for enjoyable reading, PACKED with a great range of information. One of the best I have found for those genuinely interested in detox and cleansing - not the "instant one pill" route.

This book will be kept in easy access range - because there was so much I found I will return to over and over again.

This book is a must read for everybody interested in a healthy lifestyle. Eastern and Western traditions brought together systemized in a great order. Easy to read, easy to follow, a great number of simple but effective advise how to make the best of your day at any time. This book covers not only physical, but mental and spiritual aspects of well-being which is quite rare to find in one book. I gave this book as a present to my friend who is a family doctor and her comment was: "I felt positive energy flowing through me just reading this book".

This is one I will be keeping ! I read a lot of books in the mataphysical and health area, and many get so repetitive that I just resell them to keep my personal library down.

In this one book, Alla covers what several books cover. She talks about energy from the inside out, starting with your body.
I haven't finished reading it yet, as this is one that you keep referring to.
For the first time I even got interested in the aura as an energy field. I've heard so MUCH about the aura it bores me, but she introduced it in a totally different way that it is now intriguing to me.
She explains why and how you can heal before it even manifests in physical form.

Absolutely fascinating reading for anyone open to new perspectives on physical and emotional health.

Dr.Sagan's Entity Possession is written with a matter-of-fact tone that this subject matter deserves. A straight-forward scientific presentation of subtle energy influences without the mystical journey overtones. A must read for serious Energy Healers and anyoneone else that perceives subtle energies.

Dr Sagan manages to normalise a phenomenom that is really quite mis-understood or not even seen in the world today.

Through concise documentatin of case studies he clearly outlines how to find them and what types of effects that result in ones energy and mind due to their intrusion. He also discusses the mechanisms by which they got there in the first place.

In his book, it appears that these little parasties of our body of energy are not easy to get, but once in there and observed, can be easily removed by a qualified entity clearer.

A fascinating read into the entity phenomenum....

Those who accept spirit possession usually think in terms of an "earthbound" spirit taking control of a human or at least influencing that person. However, the entity possession that the author of this book addresses is not quite the same thing. "Entities are not full human spirits who have lost their way and become attached to a living human being," Dr. Sagan explains. "If four weeks after the death of your aunt you happen to catch an entity that feels like her, it is just a fragment of her astral body, not her immortal soul trapped inside you." A graduate of the Paris 5 Faculty of Medicine, who also studied Sanskrit, Sagan now direct the Clairvision School in Sydney, Australia. There he helps clients dislodge themselves of these astral "parasites" through an expanded state of perception. The book contains many case studies in which clients are brought to focus on an entity and then to clear themselves of it. While apparently unique in Western parapsychology, such entity possession is, according to Sagan, well documented in Eastern esoteric sources. To help us understand it, Sagan first explains the four-fold nature of the human being. The lower complex is the physical body and the etheric body. The etheric is the life of the physical and apparently seen as the aura. The upper complex is the astral body and the Ego or Higher Self. Our thoughts and emotions are contained within the astral body, which is entangled like a spider web around the Ego and encased within the etheric body. At physical death, the upper complex separates from the lower, leaving the physical body to decay and the etheric body to dissolve in the ethers. However, as the etheric body dissolves, the shattering of the astral body begins. Sagan says that it is not uncommon for the astral fragments to retain their etheric parts with which they used to be connected. These fragments are imprinted with characteristics of the person, including cravings, addictions, emotions, and traits. If the person was an alcoholic, his astral fragments go wandering around in astral space looking for something to satisfy them. As like attracts like in the astral world, an alcoholic fragment will be attracted to living people who crave alcohol. The etheric body of living humans has its own defense mechanism. Therefore, it is usually in "high risk" situations, such as surgery, an accident, or intoxication, when the defense mechanism is down, that the astral parasites can attach themselves. While mainstream medicine no doubt looks askance at Sagan, he writes with authority and conviction. Most of it makes metaphysical sense, or at least as much sense as the alternative theories. It is an intriguing read.

Delightful material, well written. Mr. Angelo does a fantastic job in relating his experiences with this Hands on treatment modality. I really enjoyed my time and was sorry to finish, as I felt I had a good friend during the time I shared with Mr. Angelo.

If you are interested in spiritual or energetic healing, this is a must-have reference. Well-written, clear, brings the subject into finite, manageable terms accessible to all. I have bought many books on energy healing and spiritual healing methods, and this is the best I've found so far.

Jack Angelo explains the principal and technique behind hands on healing using a series of exercises. This book is very well illustrated and a must for anyone interested in healing of any type.

I am a massasge therapist and Reiki Master who uses Reiki everyday in my practice. I have found A History and Understanding Of Reiki by David Smith to be an invaluable tool in my practice. The book is well written and very factual. I find it very easy to use as both a reference and a guide in my practice. Every time I pick the book up I find reinforcement and a better understanding of the workings of Reiki.

Rev. David Smith has taken the time to write a book that anyone can understand about Reiki an incredible healing concept. Capturing the complex idea of universal healing energy channeled through us for the higher good in a simple and concise way is refreshing to read.

Reiki is a gentle hands-on healing method. "A History and Understanding of Reiki" gives an excellent history of Reiki, how it works, the different types of Reiki, and how we have it in its current form today. It is well written, and is easy to read and follow. As a Reiki practitioner I value this book for its in depth, well researched material. If you want to understand what Reiki is, and how we got it, this is the book for you.

I was privileged to get an advanced copy of this book. The author began with a simple attempt at elucidating and defining a mystical practice and has ended up with a full blown primer on the art that is called "Reiki." I am a student of comparative religions and this has become a staple in my library/archive.

What I like the most about this book is the matter of fact approach the author has used. I have several books on Eastern mysticism and religions and one can't get to the core of the subject due to the surplus of theory and lofty vocabulary that is there for no other reason than pad the tome. Not so with this work.

After reading this book, I actually learned a great deal. For me that is the greatest reward. 5 stars - Hands down!

I have been reading books about Kundalini for over 30 years--starting with my own Kundalini experience--and Philip St Romain's book is one of the best I have had the pleasure to read. It is particularly helpful to bewildered people who were not seeking Kundalini, or did not know what it was until it awakened in them. And that it is from a Christian perspective gives it even greater weight, making it literally a godsend to Christians experiencing this spiritual phenomenon found in all spiritual traditions, but not always understood within the Christian world.

Philip St Romain's humility throughout the book gives it greater credibility and lets the reader vicariously enjoy the experience. This is one of the most helpful Kundalini books I have ever read. I would recommend it to anyone undergoing a Kundalini awakening, and anyone interested in this evolutionary energy that is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood.

I want to call the attention of people interested in kundalini to this excellent, not-so-well-known short book. The author is a balanced and responsible scholar of world religions and of the physiological aspects of the kundalini experience;he is also oriented in Western psychological understanding. He recounts his own dramatic experience, which arose out of prayer practice, and then shares the broad and sophisticated understanding of it he developed through study and practice.

An accomplished book which starts with the specific manifestation of the authors kundalini symptoms and works toward embedding it in a larger and essentially new framework of spiritual maturation. The description of symptoms are accurate, detailed and very useful for comparative purposes of telling whether you are undergoing the process. The impersonal speculations about physical mechanisms that drive kundalini are interesting. St. Romain treats the entire episode with reverence, respect and awe. It was and remains a valuable appraisal of Grace for a (western) world desperately in need of new models for consciousness and aging.

I have read about 200 books related to Kundalini. This one is serious, goes to the core of the subject, and shows clarity of mind.
