Author Gwen Snyder Kaltman brings yet another fantastic resource for early childhood teachers in her book, "More Help! For Teachers of Young Children, 99 Tips to Promote Intellectual Development and Creativity," (Corwin Press, 2006), sharing experiences from her 25+ years of experience in working with children, parents and teachers to provide insight and inspiration. The book supplies teachers with a template for creating classrooms that foster curiosity and creativity, giving children "the freedom to control their learning without letting a classroom get out of control." The format for the book makes it enjoyable reading, starting with a concept, illustrated by one of Gwen's personal stories, a review of the lesson learned, then a self-assessment for the teacher to help identify where changes need to be made. She provides lists of activities to support each concept and her engaging stories are ones teachers can relate to, making implementing them into their own classrooms that much easier. The author is an advocate for children, supporting teachers in their quest for finding the balance between teacher planned activities and child lead. Her focus is on the children, following their interests, and creating an environment that supports their creativity. The book is filled with practical, use-it-today type of activities that teachers can take to make a difference in the learning atmosphere in their classrooms. The activities provide outlets for the child's natural urge to explore their world and learn about it and their place in it. The self assessment tools after each concept challenge the reader to be honest about their current practices in order to implement real change and improvement. Teachers will not only be inspired by the engaging stories, but be provided with the means to bring those same stories to life in their own classrooms. "More Help" is exactly that - help for teachers, a helping hand and friend to guide you along the way, the kind of resource you will use again and again, the one you will turn to when things go array because you know it will get you back onto the path of success!

These books are a wonderful source for learning about dealing with pre-school children on a daily basis. Informative, and innovative ideas which can be used on a daily basis. I am a former teacher and found these books an excellent refresher for dealing with my 2 year old grandson. Amazing what I have forgotten. I have sent copies of these books to my daughter-in-law.

This is great stuff. I finished the material earlier this year and implemented it about 6 weeks before the summer season hit. I've had some excellent results with the step contact system and have done a couple of the seminars with a good turn out and some closed deals as a result. There was a lot of background on marketing included in the training portion of the material that I enjoyed reading and helped me with my sales and marketing efforts. The best inclusion for me is the reminder system. RE Agents in our area are very used to being the referring partner in any deal. I used the ads and seminars to bring the customer to me. Referred them out to agents I wanted to build a referral relationship wtih and used the reminder systems to make sure they didn't forget where the deal originated. So far so good! The agents really seem to appreciate that I can get the borrower and create a referral. Everyone of them has referred back to me so it is working just as explained. Overall a good course that proved a bargain for me.

Great material. I am newer to lending and marketing for originations seemed overwhelming. A portion of processing for our office is to assist with the marketing. I did well in the other aspects but didn't have any background or study material to help me with marketing. We were using a lot of lists and I wasn't having as much success as I hoped. I got this as a last ditch effort to improve the incoming biz. I really appreciated some of the fundamental skills taught in the program and love the marketing concepts. Many of them are new to our area and seem unique. I've used some of the ready made fliers and tools and have had good success so far. I have started using the training to expand my marketing portfolio and can see continued success. Overall a good program. The LO's are pleased wtih my efforts and success. Thanks!

According to Mr. Padilla, this book "is a compilation of some of the concepts and tools used by performance engineers in the analysis of airline-related performance problems." Basic concepts are presented about "carrying as much weight as possible, as far as possible, as fast as possible, at the greatest profit."

This 'technical operations manual' provides an excellent illustration into areas drawing from all pertinent disciplines: aerodynamics, propulsion, mechanics and restrictions.

There are many mathematical equations but it is presented in a very concise format. I agree with the author that this book "would fit well at the second-year level of a standard engineering curriculum." As long as the reader understands algebra, trigonometry, and some elementary calculus, the material should be a 'touch and go.'

However, I was never a whiz at mathematics, so it took me a little longer to figure it out without a dozen professors nearby. If you are like me, don't be timid. The presentation is clear enough to gain a foothold and establish a critical bridge into the more sophisticated concepts, terminologies and technologies.

As a professor of aeronautical science in a large aviation oriented college program, I had been searching for a text which covered the economic aspects of airplane performance. The author does a wonderful job covering subjects such as the "cost index" and how it relates to economic climb and economic cruise conditions. The mathematics is very basic and should be understood by persons having taken algebra and perhaps introductory physics. This is the only text that I found that goes beyond the standard performance type topics in the direction of cost impact upon operations. The book would be excellent reading for aviation professionals or students of aviation. Great book!

The book is most effective when used in tandem with a video we produced. The book is for the therapist; the video is for you to show to your clients. In realistic settings, actors clearly demonstrate the skills taught during the skills training sessions. For example, one scene shows how to refuse drugs offered by a friend. Another shows how to discuss a relapse with a support person. Use the video to help clients visualize the skill before they begin to practice it themselves.

This has greatly improved my understanding and practice of providing psychotherapy and case management services to those individuals who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness. I definitely recommend it.

I loved this book. It was actually interesting to read and Walker did a great job of making me laugh, while teaching me the material for the series 6. I would recommend this book to ANYONE!

When searching for a book to prepare for the Series 6 exam my concern was finding something that was easy to follow. The subject matter is very tedious and lackluster so a book written with an equally dry style would quickly lose my interest. However, this author manages to make the subject matter pretty interesting and even interjects humor into how he presents the material to you. I would highly recommend the book.

This book should be standard reading for all fitness instructors and personal trainers. In fact it's good reading for any service industry. Well written and easy to follow.

I highly encourage everybody to buy this book. Very well written, by extremely informed experts. You will not be disappointed here! Fantastic book!

This is a delightful quick read. Clever use of a "recipe" theme for Great Teaching. It is a practical book that will be useful to new and veteran teachers alike. I plan to incorporate these ideas in the science methods class that I teach to graduate students.

Written by teacher and teacher-trainer Anita Moultrie Turner, Recipe for Great Teaching: 11 Essential Ingredients is an easy-to-comprehend, go-to guide filled with valuable advice especially for grade and high school teachers. Using a cooking motif as metaphor, Recipe for Great Teaching is filled cover to cover with techniques for successful curriculum planning, strategies for creating environments that promote learning, witty classroom stories and quotations, valuable advice for being fair and consistent ("Address undesirable behavior when it first occurs - unchecked misbehavior may result in a greater disruption down the line"), and much more, all served up with a dash of humor for spice. Highly recommended.

Surprise! A sales book tops my list of negotiation resources. But this sales book focuses on the most basic communication strategies which, if mastered, form the basis of any interaction--including negotiation. Sales Effectiveness Training is an offshoot of Gordon's earlier book, Parental Effectiveness Training (PET), itself an invaluable negotiations resource. But I didn't think that even I could convince people to read a parental training manual to improve their negotiation skills. For extra credit, check out PET; it's well written, by Gordon alone; he develops his examples in greater depth than is done in Sales Effectiveness Training. What's exciting about Sales Effectiveness Training is its unique emphasis on skills we'd otherwise overlook. When most people come to me for advice, they want to know what to say, and how to say it. But the most important thing is how you listen, not what you say. This book puts the importance of listening skills -- both as a technique for understanding and as a method of creating rapport in the context of sales effectiveness. Other Batna.com articles will examine these principles in the specific context of negotiations; but the material in Sales Effectiveness Training is highly valuable as is.

When in presence of a salesperson I have the impression he/she leads the discussion where he/she wants to go. The main difference with Sales Effectiveness Training is that the client leads: the salesperson acts as a consultant, faciliator to help the client make his/her own decision. That brings trust and make THE difference

I found this product very helpful as I worked to train a new salesman in my company. I combinesd this book with the professional sales model to help him work through indiference and objections on sales calls. He has been turning almost 95% of his sales calls into new accounts
