This is a reference book, not an adventure novel

I purchased this to study for the CDT exam. It is very complete, but reads (as you'd expect) more like a specification than a textbook. Five stars for completeness, and five stars for cure for insomnia.

Excellent counterpart to the AIA Handbook.

First off, I'm an architect, so my review is written from that perspective.

This is a great companion to the AIA Handbook. If the AIA Handbook is about running a firm, the CSI PRM is about running a project. An oversimplification, yes, but both books are so dense and full of critical information, no 100 word review could do either justice.

The CD includes many useful references including an overview of MasterFormat and a list of divisions / sections, but does not include the entire MasterFormat "product" (the full MF product includes 95-04 conversion tools and additional documentation).

My only complaint is that the text is so dense it takes a lot of time and energy to absorb all of the information within. :) It's as if they took a 1000 page tome and compressed it into 300 pages. (The product description says 1200 pages, but it's only an inch thick, so I'm guessing 300 pp.)

A must-have for architects who strive to deliver projects in a more expert and professional manner, and wish to more effectively interface with contractors during the construction phase. If you're a pure "designer" or only involved with the front end of projects this will probably stay on the shelf, but if you're responsible for the rest of the process (DD through construction and occupancy) this book is essential.

I can't believe I made it through 6 years of architectural education without being required to own this book.

This book was really an eye opener. I found I could use the information at home, as well as in business. The book became better as it went along, rather than fading out, as if the Author was just getting started. I have heard Ms. Gold speak, and she really is dynamite.

A must for anyone who has to deal with other people.

This is one of those little books that says a lot. The information in Solid Gold Customer Relations can be applied to everyday life, as well as to business. From Managers who have to deal with employees to employees who deal with clients, this book is an invaluable guide about how to handle a multitude of personalities and situations. Solid Gold Customer Relations is packed with common sense ideas and has been my main source for departmental employee/client relations guidelines.

Good to know I'm not alone

I'm an independent information specialist with several ad agency clients. When I picked up this book, I'd been tearing my hair out over yet another "need it yesterday" assignment. As I read through the interviews in this book, I felt like I was chatting with old friends. It was good to know the challenges I faced were not unique, and I enjoyed reading about how other information pros handled them. I picked up some great ideas.

This book is an excellent introduction for researchers in the ad business, but I'd also recommend it for seasoned professionals. Each professional interviewed for this book had a different area of specialization, and since we can't specialize in everything, the advice and resources that these individuals provide may be helpful even to those who've been in the business for a long time.

Especially intriguing are the case histories

Others books have focused on research pros who work in various fields; Super Searchers On Madison Avenue tackles those who function in the advertising and marketing world, using interviews with researchers who find and analyze information for fueling new product launches and ad campaigns. Especially intriguing are case histories showing how successful researchers made the change from traditional careers to being an online researcher.

Great for Case Managers in Mental Health

Review Date: 2007-11-15
This book is unbeatable when it comes to resources for understanding and creating good solid goals that match up with diagnosis for various services in the mental health field such as counseling, case management, community supports, CAP, and others. The book gives clear examples of broad and specific goals and interventions that would be effective with each. If you are making a treatment plan and want evidence based goals, or you are using person centered planning this book is for you. Everyone in my office bought one after we were introduced to it and it has really helped with getting approval from the state with our plans for community support services. I suggest trying to find it used, although the later editions have more information. I have purchased several for others and the prices have ranged from $15 to $40.

Very good road map to person centered planning. Many of us in the Mental Health field "talk the talk" and this book shows us how to "walk the walk". A must have for anybody working with people, not only in Mental Health or Substance Abuse but for the medical field as well.

I found this book in fall 2005 just at the right time as 2004-2005 were years of challenges and criticisms for our church and our pastors. I gave copies to our pastors in hope they would find the contents helpful, enlightening and comforting. I'm also sharing it with my fellow colleagues in the ministry area we serve as church secretaries and administrative assistants in hopes they too will find a new perspective in dealing with the challenges and criticisms of being in ministry.

Finally, a book that speaks to my heart and head!

I've read other books on how to deal with criticism in the church but this one is different. The writing is personal and speaks to my heart - not just my intellect.

Though you can read the book in one sitting, I find the chapters are best read for specific situations. The first chapters are in response to current hurt from criticism. Other chapters help walk the reader through how to forgive and how to respond when you know the criticism is valid.

The extensive use of scripture helped me view the situation from God's perspective - beyond "he said, she said".

This book has helped me turn a corner whereas other books on this topic focused more on the "why" people criticise then the "how" to move on.

7 Solutions for Building Your Proactive Chiropractic Practice: Proven Success Keys to Anticipate and Solve Problems of Design, Growth and Management by Michael S. Meyer, D.C., Professional Practice Resources, 2004

Whether you are researching the best practice management team to join, best coach to hire or the best accountant to take on board for your chiropractic practice, or if you are just selecting materials to focus and stay positive, 7 Solutions for Building Your Proactive Chiropractic Practice is worth considering.

Doctors of chiropractic and all supportive staff and/or family members constantly reassess service delivery, work goals, health goals, while maintaining a healthy balanced life. We all know that in order to "stay on track", it is important to read inspirational, materials. Being open-minded may allow the reader to extract more their source. However, to be given a text which is both readable and inspirational, is truly a gift. The reader may still work to extract information but the read is more engaging and very much more yielding of rich materials which is succor to daily chiropractic practice.

7 Solutions is really a "handbook" with lines for penciling responses, a smattering of sample "logs" sample certificates, and several sample forms. It's a book that lets you get it all out there on paper so that you can see where it is you are in your daily chiropractic life, guide you from the author's experience and knowledge base and reorient yourself for yourself, your family and your patients. It is the type of format that can be a straight read-through a few pages at a time. However, it's not a "workbook" or a reproduced form of a practice management three-ring binder. There is careful attention to book format, clear concise and well-edited writing.

You may not agree with all of the suggestions. You may have heard many of the variations before, but some of the suggestions will be new gems. There is enough diversity of information within the structured, chiropractically anchored text to keep you working on your own practice for some time.

Some of this is pure practice management. It is the type of material that may make some readers shudder if read out of context. However, the focus on multiple appointment visits, lost appointments being lost income for the doctor, never settle, be happy where you are or move, etc., are all worth considering or at least understanding. This is important, even if only to keep up on how other chiropractic doctors are running their offices. The choice of words, for examples "keep your patients educated, excited, and adjusted" may be "catch phrases" but they are easy to remember.

The author is confident and powerful in his beliefs without being forceful, pedantic or unyielding. " Practicing chiropractic is hard work, requiring a strong sense of purpose, mission, and focus.... nobody can be `on purpose' and focused every minute of every day. But on the whole, the way to be chiropractically strong, and confidant is to design your life and practice around your personal and professional beliefs and values. To do this in an effective way, you must eliminate any conflict between how you run your practice-and live your life-and the deep-seated personal and chiropractic values and beliefs that you hold".

Dr. Meyer offers wisdom and guidance in short subchapters such as Find a Mentor Form a "Master-Mind Alliance", Never Stop Learning-Take Business and Success Seminars, and Learn to Communicate, Learn to Influence. Since you are going to spend a portion of your practice income on management materials, 7 Solutions is a definite text to consider when you are getting the new chiropractic year off to an excellent start!

Dr. Meyer delivers what he proclaims with a focus on "real success" that "comes from a doctor who is dedicated, confident, competent and ethical in his or her practice and personal life".

I would give it 10 out of 10 as a chiropractic management text. It will be of benefit to any doctor of chiropractic.
