Dennis Frye put together a very concise and well researched book on this unit. The chapters are well laid out and to the point, finished off by "Lost and Not Heard from Since", the real 'Meat and Potatoes' of the book.
It's here that the roster of the 2nd Va. Cav. is meticulously listed and greatly appreciated. Several of the men listed within these final pages now call Elmwood Cemetery home. A quiet little cemetery just three miles from where I now live. I often use this book to better understand what drove the men who now lie beneath the many headstones in the Confederate part of Elmwood cemetery.
This book truly puts into context the struggles the 2nd Virginia Cavalry went through during the war. Thanks for all your efforts Dennis!

I have read a number of these Cavalry histories. They are very thorough and offer information not found in books that just cover the main battles.
These tell you situations involving skirmishes and and exactly who and what troop is involved. If you are a intermediate Civil War buff or expert you will enjoy being able to take in more information than most on the subject.
A definite must have for the Civil War fanatic! I love them.

This confessional book for kids is the best!!! This book shows kids how God works in their life, and what they can do to show God's love to others. My kids are only 5,3, and 1, so they don't know how to read yet. I read the book to them and I have my older kids repeat it back. Its great family time, plus I get the added benefit of learning so much myself. The Scriptures and the confessions are powerful. The confessions are put in a language level that kids understand. The book itself is a nice hardback book. The back of my book says it is for kids 4 and up, though my 3 year old likes it. I would highly recommend this book for your own children as well as for baby gifts. I personally am going to start giving this book for baby shower, Christmas, and birthday gifts. This book will not only give knowledge of God to kids but also start a relationship between God and kids. Kids can really get to know who God is and about HIS LOVE. Truely empowering.

I bought this book because some ancestors fought in the 47th Viginia and many lived in the Fredericksburg, VA area, where the 47th took most of its men. This book tells how it was to fight in the Civil War. Not only were the strategies and thinking of the commanders explained, but it also told the hardships and lives of the regular soldier. Contained an invaluable listing of officers and men that served in this unit. Anyone with ancestors in this unit, this book is a must.

We love this book and have completed several hikes so far. It is also useful for finding bike trails. The info we have used has been accurate and complete. Good details included, like whether hunting is allowed on or around the trails (important in rural area during certain times of the year). Two thumbs up!

I was answering a question on askville and came across this cookbook. I had put it away and now am thankful that I came across it again. The recipes are all homecooking, not too difficult, even for the beginner. One section, that I really like, has great recipes for things like Apple Butter, Pickled Cabbage, a great Raisin sauce. This cookbook was given to me by my mother-in-law. I had best give her a call and thank her again.
