Finally a book that explains the objective and not just what the software is capable of doing!

I would highly recommend this book to any person using Office 2003 in a business environment. Gini Courter and Annette Marquis had anticipated my questions and not only provided highly informative answers but extremely useful tips and advice. Additionally, the examples will assist readers from an entry level to expert.

My bookshelf is crammed with reference guides for application software. Recently I have purchased a number of titles written by Courter and Marquis as I find their writing style so easy to read and interpret. Once again I have not been disappointed with this title.

I've only just begun reading this book, but have learned something on each and every page. I bought it at the suggestion of a colleague who attends seminars given by the authors. She raves about their knowledge and ability to easily give instructions on using software applications as they "write the manuals", and I can confirm that they "know their stuff."

This book is a great resource for both people who have used other Office versions and for those who are beginners. The explanations are great and the pictures really help you understand what is going on. My copy of this book has been borrowed numerous times by others in my office. They love the book just as much as I do.

This is a great stress reliever. You have to have a sense of humor to relate to the voodoo doll. It's fun!

Make sure you give this to someone with a sense of humor, but it is a great gift if not taken seriously. If someone is expecting working voodoo here, this isn't intended for that purpose. It's just a comical way to say you understand when someone else is frustrated in the work place.

William R. Vitanyi, Jr., author of the office satire Kyuboria, brings us his latest office lampoon, The Official Guide to Office Wellness. This quirky and funny manual demonstrates 101 common office maladies and pairs them with animal-inspired techniques and exercises to relieve the condition. Each one is charmingly demonstrated by real office workers in the accompanying photos.

There's a little something for every office dweller inside this book's pages, and more often than not, workers will chuckle at the conditions, smirk at the remedies, and laugh even harder at the full decriptions. From Bluescreenism to Coworker Adhesion Syndrome, Vitanyi proves that he's no office slouch. This is an environment he's in synch with, and his spot-on, wry observations are seldom discussed in general public in such a humorous manner, let alone compiled and chronicled so thoroughly as in this book. But that's part of the brilliance of the work. Because while it's "fresh" material, it's also instantly recognizable to other office drones. Even if the reader doesn't suffer from some of the maladies, such as Compliance Disorder -- which every longtime office dweller should suffer at some juncture -- or Ambitionism, they'll surely recognize one of their office mates who does suffer from the afflictions.

How he convinced so many people to pose in such a silly manner, I'll never know, though I suspect it has something to do with Task Exuberance. No matter how he pulled it off, this manual is the perfect escape to look forward to as a lunchtime break for those suffering from Noonism. And it'll make an even better coffee table book for office folks with a good sense of humor.

Great laugh for the office.

I would reommend having this book available in the break room or by the coffee. If you work in an office, you will get a laugh out of this book. You will laugh out loud at the spoofs in this book about excercises cubicle dwellers can do. What is even funnier are the photo's of each excercise. Good for a laugh.

I am actually in this book (p.66). It was so much fun to watch the author plan out his photos and I am thrilled with the way this book turned out. It's not meant to be taken seriously but it's great for a laugh when you're sick of sitting at your desk all day! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good laugh to brighten up their day.

Funniest darn book I ever read. Not for the prudish or faint of heart, of course - but just plain hilarious nonetheless! If, as Norman Cousins proposed, laughter has curative properties, after reading this book, one should be in perfect health.

I have been sharing these gems of workplace wit with my friends, not a difficult task as the pages in this creative volume are perforated for easy removal and faxing - the world's first interactive book.

Great idea - belongs in every workplace - and for that matter, in every home.

Corporate Politics for IT Managers: How to get Streetwise

Review Date: 2005-09-05
After being involved in IT for over 20 years, I found this book to be a revelation. As with most IT professionals who work their way up from IT implementation and support to IT and then corporate management, I was very well versed on technologies from telecommunications to data networking. However, I was increasingly frustrated with "technology" decisions made by other "C-Level" staff with what I considered basic flaws - from a technology perspective - that practically doomed them to failure from the start.

Intuitively, I knew that the problem was their understanding of business processes, but a lack of knowledge about technology. As they had no inclination, or time, to learn the technology sufficiently to avoid the pitfalls, it was necessary for me to determine how to more successfully align technology needs with the corporate politics (as the operational alignment had already occurred). This book, which is very readable and even provided some belly-laughs about some of my most serious problems, really focused some ideas of which I was previously only vaguely aware.

I highly recommend this book to all IT managers. It provides valuable information in an enjoyable and thought-provoking way. Besides, how many technical manuals can you read without needing some kind of variety?

Wow, after 20 years in the hardest game in the woorld (I.T.) (not without some success), I always felt that I knew the answers and the others didn't understand. I could never figure out why nobody valued what I did as highly as I did.

Now I know, this book tells it all and you can read it in a day or two.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone in IT who feels misunderstood and undervalued. Use this book to get promoted within a year.

I needed to be able to take dictation at 80 wpm, in a very short amount of time, to pass an exam to keep my job. Never having taken a shorthand course & not being able to find a place to learn shorthand, I came across this book. I was amazed at how easy it was - this book takes you step by step through the process of learning the rules of speedwriting, as well as giving you practice sessions to build up your speed. It's a skill that you can use for more than taking dictation - just for writing yourself quick notes. The book is simple to understand & gets right to the point - without it, I would have lost my job!

I'm thrilled with EasyScript !!!

The editorial review says that this book goes step-by-step and that is a very good description. There are a lot of specific exercises, repetition, as well as opportunities to practice material that has been presented and reviews of what has been learned. I'm pretty good at learning things by myself, but voice recognition software is very different. This book has been very very encouraging and empowering. Yes, it does take a long time to really get used to the program. Yes it is a lot of work. But this book helped me find out that I can even use ViaVoice with my NoteWorthyComposer software to write music, a program that has been difficult because of my RSI problem.

The whole thing is presented in a clear and carefully thought out manner. I am so pleased with the book I am going to recommend it to my dad who is over 90.

Again, I can not recommend this book highly enough!
