The pictures are wonderful. It's filled with a lot of radiographic info that every chiropractic student should know for the boards and hard and soft tissue pathology classes. Although Dr. Yochum at times may write in a highly professional fashion, his thoughts are conveyed with the utmost care and knowledge on the subject. His textbook and his study guide great foundations of knowledge for any chiropractic student and now being a doctor of chiropractic, I have been using his book as a reference for a few years now. For the chiropractic boards, I used the following as references which helped me to pass and not spend another 6 months in limbo. I used Leonardi's National Board of Chiropractic Part II Study Guide: isbn: 0974328731, National Board of Chiropractic Part III Study Guide: isbn:0974328723, National Board of Chiropractic Part IV Study Guide: 0974328766 Volume 1, National Board of Chiropractic Part IV Study Guide: 0974328774 Volume 2.

Practical, Timely, and Needed

This book explains how to increase the use of nutrition into a holistic, chiropractic, or medical practice. It explains little know facts on nutrients, antiaging, forms of chronic fatigue, various disorders and various nutrients. It simply covers subjects not properly covered in most holistic, naturopathic, chiropractic, osteopathic, or medical schools.
It fills a great need by having timely, well-researched, information that allows the expert or even novice to add more nutrition into their practices.
There is so much more to say about this book that perhaps the best thing to do is to report what other natural health professionals reported:
As a traditional osteopathic physician, I am always interested in natural, nutritional, and herbal recommendations to help my patients. I would highly recommend that health professionals read Serious Nutrition: Incorporating Clinically Effective Nutrition Into Your Practice as it is perhaps the most practical, best referenced, book of its type available today.
Shawn Centers, D.O., F.A.C.O.P.
As a 21st century chiropractic graduate, I can report that as extensive and scientific as my training was, it simply did not provide enough of the detailed information I felt was needed to incorporate much nutrition clinically. Serious Nutrition: Incorporating Clinically Effective Nutrition Into Your Practice is the type of book I have been waiting for. It is well written, highly referenced, and totally practical. It provides the step-by-step instructions, and even forms, that make it relatively easy to clinically add or
expand the use of nutrition.
Brian Fall, D.C.
After having congestive heart failure, I felt that my days as a surgeon were over. Even though I have a great deal of experience with nutrition, I benefited so much from Reflex Nutrition Assessment {discussed in Chapter 6} that I was able to go back to work within two weeks of following recommendations based on it.
Eugene Reiner, M.D.
Serious Nutrition: Incorporating Clinically Effective Nutrition Into Your Practice should be in every practitioner's library. It is perfect for the beginner and seasoned practitioner. An excellent how to book. It provides step-by-step instructions for incorporating nutrition into health practices of all types. It provides detailed discussions of many common health problems, potential protocols, information on herbs, forms, and addresses many of the concerns that natural health professionals face every day. It is such a good reference tool.
Melissa Welles, C.N.H.P.
Finally, a comprehensive book for natural health professionals which provides well-researched, scientific information on not only what to possibly recommend, but also explains why foods and herbs are the best nutritional interventions available.
Richmond K. Simmons, N.D.
Serious Nutrition: Incorporating Clinically Effective Nutrition Into Your Practice is a comprehensive book just for doctors interested in truly natural treatments for their patients. There is simply no other book like it. It is THE ONE BOOK that everyone involved with clinical nutrition really needs to have. It is totally practical. The protocols alone are worth more than the price of the book. I highly recommend it. A valuable and practical asset for any natural health practice.
Robert Thiel, Ph.D., N.H.D.
As a doctor of chiropractic with decades experience of using nutrition clinically, I have awaited the publication of Serious Nutrition: Incorporating Clinically Effective Nutrition Into Your Practice. This book clearly explains the truth about what is actually in vitamin and mineral supplements, and some of the possible adverse effects on your health from the synthetics and non-food additives that most companies use. This book is probably the best researched, most comprehensive book of its type available today. It not only can help natural health care professionals who wish to add nutrition into their practices, it can also help those of us who have much experience with nutrition, expand its use and effectiveness even more.
Ted Allen, D.C.

Useful for the layman, incredibly useful for anyone seriously considering the study of whole body emotional release work of any school or approach. Also required reading for anyone working with Dolphin Assited Therapy(DAT) in the Upledger school.
The older book, "SomatoEmotional Release and Beyond" by Dr. John E. Upledger, DO, FAAO, DSc, originally a hard cover text for students, now has a new, very readable design to find its full flowering and fruition here. The older hard cover, like Upledger's first text, "Craniosacral Therapy," was at times difficult for the layman to grasp, but not so here. Very quickly the reader is gently guided into a world of wonder and of mystery, a world filled with miraculous tales of health and sudden healing that can boggle the mind! Unfamiliar terms are simply defined, "deciphered" in easy to read language.
Get ready to move beyond your comfort zone in this long awaited, well designed, distillation of the original teaching text, grounded in testimonials. If the original read like a novel in places, this read is fun and way better!

We all know how difficult it is to find a good book that cuts right to the chase, puts it in easily understandable terminology and can truly teach you. For the PT student has even a slight interest in manual therapy, this is a great introductory text.
It cites clinical research to back up the interventions that are prescribed. I had the privilige of taking a class with the author, a truly wonderful professor and I highly recommend his text to anyone who wants to be a part of manual theraoy practice.
It has cases in the back of the text to test your knowledge of how well you have absorbed previously learned material in other classes and challenges your ability to be a solid clinician.
The text is broken up into clearly defined sections and covers the assessment, what are the most common deviations to see, problems that may arise in a specific area, soft tissue interventions, and therapeutic exercise to augment your treatment.
I won't spoil anymore, like I said, I highly recommend it.

My study group and I used these cards to study for our anatomy test (Gross Anatomy) in med school. This is a very valuable source for any students taking Gross Anatomy or undergrad anatomy and physiology. However, our study group also used
Spinal Anatomy Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi, which we also purchased on amazon.com. Both of these sources (flashcards and study guide) helped us achieve A's and B's in our Gross anatomy classes. My advice get both books.

I would like to state that I am the author, and that the book is very much in print, with a second edition coming out in 1998. This book is one that is a must for all chiropractic students. The lay public interested in the physiology of pregnancy and why things happen will enjoy this book as well. In this text are explanations of the hormonal and physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and give answers to such questions as why do I crave crazy foods during pregnancy? This book is required reading and text in all chiropractic schools and I hope will forever be a classic in the field. In 1999 we hope to come out with a patient companion.
