Another modern world is possible

An excellent cast of authors and leading thinkers cover many aspects of how current forms of market fundamentalist oligarchic corporate interests shape a form of globalisation that limits the benefits and exascerbate the challenges posed by the changes brought on by globalisation. In stark contrast to the media's portrayal of knee jerk reactions to modern realities this book presents a very deep understanding of the challenges and the opportunities before us. It offers alternatives at a time when prevailing dogma has it that there are no alternatives and that the ills we see around us are inevitable and for the better good. It also points out the tremendous cummulative danger of the current direction many international developments are taking. It is not a book about going backwards but about moving into new territory beyond the deadlocks of the past.

Making Sense of Globalisation

Review Date: 2004-12-31
Globalisation is one of the most complex and influential movements of our time. Driven by major corporations in the West, it seeks to operate financial and commercial transactions to the benefit of all humans. In practice, there are few winners except the transnational corporations themselves. Having monopolised markets and financial institutions, corporations have also drawn up legal procedures whereby they can bypass even the nation state itself. The effects on poorer countries of the planet are devastating.

The impact of globalisation touches the lives of everybody on planet earth today. We need to be aware of how it works;only then do we stand any real chance of challenging and redirecting its movements. Among the many books on the subject, few are as simply but comprehensively written as the present volume. It provides an excellent overview with some valuable suggestions on how we can work together to create alternative startegies for a more just and equitable world order.

Untangling Globalization

We live in a world dominated by corporate superpowers that have no regard for the long-term welfare of the people, the economy, or the environment. These large transnational firms are reshaping the world and perpetuating a mass homogenization of cultures around the world. Many of the largest conglomerates in the world are American-owned. They export products and images that promote their bottom lines, not the welfare of individual countries or people. They covertly shift billions of dollars between different countries overnight or build retail chains that desecrate local economies. The sheer size and power of these organizations leaves many of us paralyzed with a lingering sense of disempowerment and an inability to imagine effective solutions.

This book offers us concrete answers and a list of actions we can take. The topical chapters allow you to go straight to the information you want and discover both grassroots and legislative solutions. As an additional bonus, a panel of experts in the various fields back up their perspectives with solid facts and figures. This is a indispensable book for any concerned citizen and an engaging read from cover to cover.

Caution: If confronting a nauseating reality is not in your agenda, turn back now. Alternatives to Economic Globalization exposes the consequences of the current corporate driven expansion era. Third world countries, bountiful with natural resources, are being exploited by Corporations. The rules of the globalization game are corruptly favorable to the rich foreigners. If you like to read scholarly books on economics, business, the environment, world injustices, the future, humanity and most importantly the truth, I'd say its worth your money and time.

Insightful work

Review Date: 2005-12-30
This book addresses many significant problems in the world today (2003-to present) from the vantage point of the capitalist critic. It preaches localization of centralized governments in third world countries as alternatives to the dominating presence of the WTO and ICC. Although these organizations allow impoverished countries to create jobs, in many instances the respective jobs come at the expense of the entire communities' well-being (water privatization). The text ties pollution problems to the need to maintain the economic machine. If you see anything on your TV news source (CNN, FOX News) about WTO protests in large cities, and seem troubled, then read this book. It will explain why the people marching on your TV screen are so angry.

This book contains great ideas to have kids learn through easy and engaging hands-on activities. All the ideas provided are organized in alphabetical order, and for each activity you will find suggestions on how to apply it through different areas across the curriculum. Some of the ideas included are how to make and use: door hangers, flags, journals, pop-up books, puzzles, chains, paper bag activities, shape books, triaramas and quadriaramas (which are beautiful and easy-to-make paper dioramas for reading comprehension, science, etc), mobiles and many more. Some ideas require basic materials like construction paper, envelopes, boxes, paper plates, and other household items. If the activity requires a specific template, the book contains a section of patterns that can be photocopied (like for example the pattern to make cubes, door hangers, pop-up cards, visors, and much more). Most of the activities require no further preparation and most can be done with the every day resources that most teachers keep in their classrooms.

This is a great book for elementary teachers no matter what subject they teach, because most of the ideas can be applied across the curriculum. If you want something innovative for your students, this book will help you give a twist to your lessons and you will definitely use fewer worksheets and obtain better results!

I always refer to this book when I need a new idea or activity to do in class. The activities are simple and can be adapted to virtually any subject. The appendix contains all the templates you need, however most lessons do not require copying. Puzzles, quilts, box activities, journals, mobiles, flags, and recipes are just a sampling of what this book has to offer.

My wife and I have used this (we refer to it as the "yellow book" in our teaching). I'm a 3rd-4th grade teacher and I can say that Alternatives to Worksheets is excellent when you want to get away from the ever-present dittos. The activities are fun and they let you students be as creative as they want to be. I even let my students choose what they want to do from this book and its sequel MORE Alternative to Worksheets. It is excellent for English language learners because they are visually rich and not hard to do projects. Fun, fun, fun. Fun for the teacher too, because it's a break from the same ole'-same ole'!

Each page in this book is a potential great idea to be used as is or adapted for the classroom or even at home. Projects include accordion books, cubes, journals, paper bag activities, and patterns. Although some of the ideas are not novel, they are all brought together and packaged in a handy dandy book.

As I have often found in my life, enlightenment and crucial messages can come in the greatest time of need. This is the case of Apollo's Creed. This book came to me at an important time in my relationship with my acutely ill dog Mojo. Although he ultimately sucumbed to his illness, I was fortunate in that I could provide the best medical care that money could buy, both mainstream and alternative. This author's experience, and choices, validated my own. I found her message to be very comforting and I related to the lessons that she learned.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever loved a pet.

Now ask yourself, how many of them did much more than take them to the vet? Probably not many, because frankly, what do you do in addition to taking them to the vet? I didn't know until after I read this book.

There is a world of treatments, both mainstream and what I'd call home-health care that apply to dogs and cats that make them feel better and give them better quality of life when they're sick.

This author takes you on her journey - her quest - to give her dog the best quality of life possible, even while struggling with a dread disease.

It is enlightening. Thanks Deb Estes for sharing your story. It is bound to help millions!!!

With a title like, "The Baby Boomers' Guide To Living Forever," it would be easy to pass over this book with the assumption that it is a journey into some sort of medical never-never land. But as I quickly discovered, this is far from the case. "The Baby Boomers' Guide" shapes as an absolutely fascinating, at times scholarly, tour of what middle age America can do to improve both the quality and quantity of life. Dr. Grossman covers a remarkable spectrum of topics and, with support from co-authors who are experts in each of dozens of medical/health areas, provides an astonishing treasure of useful information. This is one of those rare books that can literally change the course of the reader's life. "Baby Boomers' Guide" is must reading for anyone who is serious about extending their years, perhaps beyond anything that they ever imagined was possible.

Dr. Grossman and the co-authors have put together one of the best longevity / anti-aging books around. They don't just banter on about generalities as other authors do on the subject, but provide practical and real information. This book is a good guide for one interested in the anti-aging movement, not only the patient but for doctors discovering this field of medicine.

At first blush most of the information if acted on in the book will probably result in adding years, if not decades to some peoples lives. My own recommendation is to do your own independent research [separate from this book], first, if you make any life changing adjustments, particularly if it involves consuming vitamins suggested in the book. Some of the recommendations only strengthened what I already knew, such as taking Co-Q10 on a daily basis. Co-Q10 is expensive, but a very good nutrient that can help protect your body from free radical damage, resulting in reduced risks of succumbing to various cancers and heart diseases. Other recommendations in the book did raise some concerns for me such as consuming L-Carnosine on a daily basis. Research i've found dating back to 1984 expressed that L-Carnosine built up in the body can potentially have dangerous neurotoxic side effects. Taking too much of it could induce what is medically referred to as "Carnosinemia", which also can be inherited. Most of the oral vitamin supplements in the market offer L-Carnosine at 500MG doses, recommending you take it once or twice daily. The book recommends 200MG per day in single or "divided doses" and stressed "its low level of toxicity"...... but I don't know how much is too much frankly, so I will avoid this particular molecule until more research data is known.

An Excellent Guide To The Life-Extension Revolution!

Over the years I have read several health oriented books promoting ideas for healthier and longer lives for us, this one is by far the best, containing down-to-earth advice of a practical and far reaching nature. Many areas are covered, including supplements from arginine to zinc, social issues, and lots of other topics.

This book supports the method of using biostasis (cryonics) at the time of death as a means of reaching the future era of advanced nanomedicine, much anticipated by many scientists who work in this nascent field. About fifteen pages are devoted to cryonics, a very good introduction to this subject, an idea and practice that is slowly becoming 'mainstream'. In fact, Terry Grossman, himself an M.D., is signed up for cryonics.

Overall, this volume contains much useful advice and should be read by everyone.

I am currently about halfway through this book, but I can already tell you that I love it. That might not be shocking, since the opus involves two of my long-standing guilty pleasures: pro wrestling and punk rock. However, my praise for Beer Blood & Cornmeal goes beyond the subject matter. It also takes into account the actual writing: it's funny!
The book is well written, interesting, and incorporates (counter)cultural aspects of San Francisco and the US in general to flesh out the story. If there is any negative aspect to this book, it's that I only wish I had been in the San Francisco area during those years and experienced ISW in person. I know I would have been to every show, and secretly tempted to somehow become involved, trying to conjure up a character worthy of facing Macho Sasquatcho or the other brilliant, twisted creations.

In this fine punk-wrestling memoir, combining aspects of punk tour diary, independent wrestling reportage, and cultural critique, Calhoun deploys his satirical gifts upon himself, his fellow grapplers, San Francisco hipsterism, and the country at large, always to hilarious and thought-provoking effect.
As the book opens in early 90's San Francisco, Calhoun, fed on an intellectual diet of Marvel comics, monster movies, and pro wrestling, is a striving loser whose stated ambitions are for nothing more than local celebrity - some color to brighten the drab modern American existence of commuting and wage-earning. He leads a band in the persona of a mail-order martial arts huckster from comic book ads, works his way through the San Francisco club scene, and in time falls in with a crowd of urban niche hipsters, the punk/greaser retro-gearhead founders of Incredibly Strange Wrestling. Conceived partly as a tribute to/ripoff of Mexican-style pro wrestling, ISW grows over the years into a local and regional nightclub attraction, gradually incorporating more of Calhoun's non-sequitur concepts. Not content with the scuzzily rarefied, insiders-only vibe of early ISW and SF hipsterdom in general, Calhoun and others in his camp use the ISW platform to stage increasingly bizarre, satirical, and transgressive spectacles. Scientologists, organized religion, and white rappers all get the treatment. In a process mirroring the evolution of independent rock toward the mainstream, ISW edges closer to a material success which confounds everyone involved. Personality conflicts multiply, and the efforts and rewards involved are not always evenly distributed.
As is appropriate in a story about pro wrestling, the psychology of obsession is laid bare here. While Calhoun's ambitions may have been modest at the start, ISW coaxes the instinctive showman out of him. A different process occurs with Calhoun's friend and fellow wrestler Tom Corgan. Another regular guy pulled by his love of pro wrestling into the orbit of ISW, Corgan suffers from an eventually tragic lack of perspective on the silliness and sublimity of wrestling in a Bigfoot costume. Corgan begins disturbingly to wear his Macho Sasquatcho costume to parties and family skiing trips, but he also has a deep insight into the pre-rational aspects of pro wrestling- it is Corgan who promotes the introduction to ISW of "blading" (wrestlers' surreptitiously cutting themselves with hidden razor blades to add real blood to the show) during a grueling European tour before increasingly hostile crowds.
Of course, by the time of those tense European dates, the US was gearing up for a deeply unpopular war in Iraq. When Beer Blood & Cornmeal begins, there is barely an internet on which to list ISW's shows. By the end of the book, the country, and the Bay Area in particular, has been transformed, by the internet and then by Bush's America and the war on terror. Among the very least of the results, SF rock clubs close their doors in the face of astronomical dot com rents; punk goes corporate with Clearcom-sponsored package tours.
Calhoun doesn't presume to explain how youth cultures obsessed with nostalgia and the veneration of the junk art of the past can ever have come to grips with the seismic changes of the 90s and 00s; but our culture's gradual evolution away from one which has room for the outsider and the self-destructive smartass is a subject never far from his mind. This is a deeply funny and sad tale told with insight, originality, honesty, and humanity.

If you have ever stepped foot in San Francisco, seen these wrestlers in the ring, been to a punk rock show, or lived through this time in the past, you should read this book. You should read this book even if you've done none of those things. It's more than a memoir, more than an autobiography and filled with all of the drama and excitement you would expect -- in and out of the wrestling ring -- from the show and more. So much more.

I lived in San Francisco during the era that this book covers and worked at The Transmission Theater as a bartender for many of Incredibly Strange Wrestling's shows. Bob Calhoun covers this spectacle in such depth and with such precision and detail, it was almost like being in the 90s again, except this time I am a fly on the wall privy to bits and pieces that I never would have known about until reading.

Insider's Account of an Incredibly Strange and Wonderful World

This is a wrestling book, but so much more. Set against the colorful background of the San Francisco music scene of the post Nirvana 90's, and intertwined with the fortunes of the dotcom boom and bust, Bob Calhoun gives an insider's view of the birth of the cult phenomenon known as Incredibly Strange Wrestling. Taking the do-it-yourself punk rock ethic as serious as a heart attack, the founders of Incredibly Strange Wrestling mixed Mexican Lucha Libre stylings with American Professional wrestling and added a healthy dose of punk rock comic book insanity to create an ironic and hilarious brain child that matched Sasquatches against crazy chickens, fed Christians to the lions, and rocked the house every night.

Calhoun, aka Count Dante, is an outsider at first, and a show running MC and booker in the end. But all along this twisted tale, he's an intelligent and accessible everyman that guides the reader through a wonderfully alien world of rancid night clubs, flea-bitten tour buses, around the country and the world to the pinnacles of sold-out shows from the Fillmore Theater to the Toronto Skydome.

Wrestling fans will be thrilled by the recounting of matches they'll wonder how they ever missed. Musicians and music fans will recognize the story of a rocker just looking for a chance at stardom. And readers everywhere will identify with a young man striving to follow his dreams in the face of obstacles both incredibly strange and mundane.

This is a wrestling book and so much more. "Beer, Blood, and Cornmeal" is a story you have to read to believe.

"The Bible Cure for Candida and Yeast Infections" by Dr. Don Colbert was given to me as a gift, and since it is such an excellent book I have bought numerous other books by Dr. Colbert. Having already read a number of books by other authors about allergies, environmental illness and yeast overgrowth, I was very surprised this small book provided information I had never read elsewhere. In particular, I am happy the book tells how to heal a "leaky gut". Recently I was tested to be allergic to only three or four foods, after years prior having been tested allergic to 70% of foods. I knew that candida had made holes in my gut, then food protein went directly into my bloodstream, and was fought against by my immune system, resulting in many food allergies. After rarely eating my allergic foods and taking a particular amino acid Dr. Colbert mentions in this book, I have become much less sensitive to many foods. This is an excellent book for anyone who has ever taken antibotics and is now experiencing any of the many problems that go along with intestinal flora imbalance. For more information about the types of problems that are associated with candida albicans overgrowth, I suggest you also read Dr. William Crook's "The Yeast Connection".

I thought this book was VERY helpful. My sister-in-law was overweight and sick from candida and when she followed the plan in this book she lost a TON of weight and she feels better than ever. I recently found out that some of my health problems are from candida. This book has been helpful to me also. I especially love the scriptures and the prayers. They have helped me through a hard thing. I have also lost ALOT of weight from following this plan, but more than that, I feel awesome physically. Also, several people in our church have been following this book and are doing great! DR. COLBERT HAS JUST RECENTLY RELEASED A NEW BIBLE CURE BOOK FOR CANDIDA WITH RECIPES FOR THE CANDIDA DIET. I THINK IT MIGHT EVEN BE BETTER THAN THIS ONE.

My best friends wives have never been happier now that I have found this book by the remarkable Dr. Don Colbert. This author has graced us with such other wonderful books as the Bible's way to cure depression and has also educated the masses as to just what Jesus ate and how he cooked it. Jesus liked tabasco sauce by the way...at least he called for it in his recipies. At any rate, on to this book...I would have thought that the Biblicial way to cure such a pesky problem could have been gotten to faster than 96 pages, but apparently not. I'm just glad there's a Holy and Biblical answer to such a thing. And to think, all these vendors spend millions advertising all types of creams and insertive devices on televsion. I should like to think that if this book could reach more people, we could end those commercials and my dinner time could be interrupted by commercials for 4x4's, televisions and fried chicken rather than women speaking about burning and itching. Maybe someday, it will. Thank you Dr. Colbert, and thank you Jesus for showing the way to alleviate the problem of such yeasty devils.

There are a growing number of books on Complementary / Alternative Medicine (CAM) on the shelves, and a reliable resource on CAM therapies is imperative for conventional Western medical doctors as 50% or more of their patients are exploring these potentially helpful / potentially harmful therapies. This book distinguishes itself from the pack by providing the 30,000 foot view of each practice buoyed by bullet points highlighting the essential information a clinician needs to know to advise patients. This is a wonderful resource for busy clinicians who have only a few minutes of spare time to devote to counseling patients on CAM. I would recommend this book to any physician or other health care provider who sees patients; such a book should be provided to medical students and / or residents at the start of their training.

This book provides information on basic concepts of CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine), including political and economic issues. More than a dozen modalities are reviewed, including acupuncture, biofeedback, hypnosis and homeopathy. In addition, more contemporary interventions such as aroma and music therapies, therapeutic touch and guided imagery are explained. The approach is straight-forward; with each topic written by a specialist in the field. Authors (most are physicians; but several are nurses with extensive experience in the field of particular study) describe each topic; it's history, indications and hopeful outcomes and (in effort to assure a balanced review) limitations of treatment. Certification and licensing requirements are also addressed; with a sampling of nationwide hospitals and clinics providing CAM programs provided. This book is an excellent tool for both the professional and layperson seeking to understand alternative treatments and their effective integration with more tradition medical care.

This is complementary and alternative therapies in a nutshell, easy to use as a quick resource when you don't have time to read any of the many books and articles on CAM's. It is systematically organized for easy access to essential information. This light weight paperback is a must for any busy health care professional who wants to be able to advice patients on the therapies they may be using or considering.

This is a wonderful resource for everyone who can benefit from massage. We all need an "occasional tweeking" to keep ourselves feeling great. This book helps you figure out what massage is best for you!

I am a teacher, and so when I read a book, I'm always very aware of how well-organized and well-written it is. I picked up "Bodywork" because I've had lower back pain off and on for years. I was interested in trying some hands-on therapy to help it. Bodywork helped me find some relief for it. My pain is not completely gone, but I am better able to alleviate and manage it than with pills.

What struck me most about "Bodywork" is that in addition to being very informative, it is extremely well-organized and well-written. This makes it a very handy reference book. I found it educational and inspirational, without being "preachy". I recommend this book to any other readers who are interested in learning more about how hands-on therapies can help them.

We are certified massage therapists in the San Francisco Bay area. When clients ask us about lesser known or unfamiliar modalities, this is the book we reach for. It is concise, well-written, easy to understand from the layman's point of view. It has even helped us in the enhancement of our own practice by providing a guide to further studies and research to improve our practice.

BEST BOOK ON BODYWORK

This is the best book on bodywork I've read. I love massage, but was confused by all the diffrerent styles that are out there -- Swedish, Alexander, Reiki, Shiatsu -- to name just a few. I've read a lot of books on massage, but it was Thomas Claire's BODYWORK that helped me find the massage that was right for me -- and make the most of it. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in finding out more about massage and bodywork.

OUTSTANDING OVERVIEW OF THE FASCINATING WORLD OF MASSAGE

This is an excellent overview of the fascinating world of massage and body-mind healing therapies. I've always been interested in massage, but had a hard time figuring out what all the different types are. Thomas Claire's BODYWORK helped demystify this world for me. I especially liked the fist-hand account of the experience of different kinds of massage -- they were really helpful. For instance, the first-hand account of a reflexology session helped me understand what foot massage is all about, and to know that I would like to try it.

Cancer Salves is a fabulous reference resource and a truly fascinating read. Dr. Naiman has accomplished quite a feat in this book. When I got my copy, I literally could not put it down and as I read more and more of it I became more and more in awe of the amount of research that obviously went into this less than one inch thick volume.

Throughout the book, Dr. Naiman has referenced her sources and outlined all the cautions that one must be cognizant of when embarking on any healing journey. Think of this book like the old Portuguese Pilot Books that were so highly valued as the only reliable navigational aids prior to the sextant. Like them, this book will aid you in navigating through the physical and spiritual journey that is healing. It tells tales of both success and failure, it gives further resources, points out pitfalls in science as well as philosophy--a truly epic ode to healing and the reform of our philosophy of health.

Although Cancer Salves is obviously and specifically focused on cancer, I found that the information provided on individual herbs is very useful generally and not just for cancer. The appendices, especially the suggested reading list, and the bibliography alone are worth the price of the book. Dr. Naiman's musings on the philosophy of health and healing will be echoing within me for some time to come.

Finally, I would like to add my own cautionary note: Do not attempt to put any of the programs outlined in Cancer Salves--or any other alternative medical resource--into practice unless you are prepared to take full and complete personal responsibility for your own health and healing. This book is a map, an atlas, a Pilot Book, not a guarantee. It gives you resources to make your own educated alternative medical decisions. What comes of your decisions is your own responsibility, just as it should be. I for one am very grateful to Dr. Naiman for this invaluable resource.

Shortly after I received the book, I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Naiman. I was just as impressed by her knowledge, presence, and integrity as I was by her book.

Over priced.

This book can be purchased from the author at her web site brand new for 42.50. I do not understand why Amazon and the other sellers are selling used ones for 74+ dollars. I come here often for books and this is the first time I feel taken advantage of. I will buy the book because it is highly recommended for anyone who wants to formulate cancer salves, but I will buy it directly from Ingrid this time.

Dr. Naiman writes an amazing and giving book detailing the use, the formulas, and protocols for working with herbs to remove tumors. The reasearch on the book is scholarly and exhaustive; the prose style light and angelic. I read it in manuscript form and was so amazed by the book's generosity - the author even provides recipes for creating the salves - and its clairity that I bought a copy for my Naturopathic Doctor. He is equally impressed.

As a cancer patient I heard hints and whispers about the amazing salves, like blood root and the black and yellow salves, but could find no one truly versed in the art of making or using the salves. All of the practitioners I consulted knew of the existance of the salves but knew nothing of how to obtain them or the proper way to apply them. With this book, Dr. Naiman gives anyone who believes in alternative cancer treatments a virtual howitzer to use in the battle against this killer disease.

I paid nearly double the low Amazon.com price for each of the books I bought and believe that I got an incredible bargain. If you have cancer, if you love anyone who has this dread disease, or if you treat cancer patients, you need this book. The herbs are a gift from the earth. The use of them is our legacy from generations of countless healers from decades and centuries past. Certainly we owe Dr. Naiman a debt of gratitude for putting it all in our hands via her very readable and accessible book.

Buy this book while you still can!

When I heard of a woman who had pancreatic cancer and who had been sent home to die, but had managed to save herself with these salves (self-administered under the guidance of a Naturopath), I was incredulous. I was told she actually had the growths in jars and was always happy to share her story with others who might benefit.

I made a point of meeting the woman and found her the picture of health, running a vibrant business, working harder than any of the men under her employ. She showed me the jars containing some evil-looking growths. She showed me an unusual scar where the cancer had exited her side. She told me how much it had hurt and how hard it was to kick the morphine they had her on in the hospital. And she told me of other "terminals" who had survived.

I got to know this woman well and I trust her implicitly. When I got the book "Cancer Salves" and showed it to her, she was ecstatic. Somebody had finally gotten it in print! How brave!

The value of the internet is that you have access to information that would otherwise be banned. With the bad (pornography, etc.) comes the good - voices long silenced by the heavy hand of institutional authority - facts about effective cancer cures that have saved many lives. Search the web for the life history of Royal Raymond Rife. Get the video "Hoxsey - The Quack(?) Who Cured Cancer" (Also renamed "Hoxsey - How Healing Becomes A Crime").

Make up your own mind, however incredible it all may sound at first. And get this book while you still can! Many less-threatening items have been banned by the AMA/FDA. If one out of every four people in America will get cancer, this may save you or someone you love. Knowledge is power.

This guy creates awesome, surreal imagery that puts the reader right into where/when/whatever his character is. Reading this book reminds me of those old time "haunted houses" with the distorted mirrors, unexpectedly tilting floors, and other ways of skewing the perceptions to which we've all become accustomed.
One gets the feeling, or maybe just the hope, that the character "James Genius" is remaining somehow grounded through it all.
Make that, "Stephen King on Acid."
This book would translate powerfully to film.

I thought the author did a nice balancing job between keeping the reader guessing what was coming but still providing enough clues to keep it interesting. The descriptions and images were very detailed and the whole concept was original and not what I was expecting. Overall I enjoyed the book and thought the description on the back cover didn't do the book justice.

I just finished reading "The Coffin Of James Genius", and found it to be a quick and interesting read. Some very creative images with not too obvious clues throughout the novel. I would highly recommend the book, as a great escape from reality. I hope Mr. Petrille writes another one soon.
