The author made it very easy to use all the exercises and make it so it is an everyday resource for all practitioners from beginner to advanced. It gives you the back to basics of what so many lightworkers seem to forget once they get into the realm of having clients.

Good stuff, basic to intermediate level healing techniques. The author does a great job of explaining (and proving) somewhat complex ideas related to hands-on vibrational healing. I've been involved with this field of study for a few years and I still learned a few things.

I found the book very interesting and informative. I had very little
exposure to this type of practice before this book and now have a much
better understanding of the intricacies involved in Energy Therapy. I
rate this book a 5 and recommend it be acquired by any student of the
occult. If you are a student of alternate therapies and holistic healing
you will benefit by what this work has to offer. It will make an excellent addition to the occult library.

We All Negotiate Daily: Here's How to Win
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-04
Mary Greenwood, J.D., LL.M., has written an indispensable, sensible and very knowledgeable book that everyone needs by their right hand. How to Negotiate Like a Pro contains 41 rules about how to negotiate just about anything, from face-to-face, to online, to eBay; to divorce.

I liked Rule 2: Look forward: the past is called the past for a reason. Or what about that strange Rule 3: You don't have to be Right to Settle. What? Mary Greenwood tells you how. Then there is rule 19: Never Take No for an Answer. But she cautions you to listen to the other party carefully so you can determine if their arguments might allow you to change you mind. Below each Rule's explanation, Ms. Greenwood has a little section called: Script: a small part of a script for Rule 19 is: "I understand what you are saying, but what if we did it this way?" These scripts set you right into a negotiating setting, using "I" so that you get immediately into the verbal reality of a negotiating moment.

Mary Greenwood gives you tips on How to Negotiate with Your Boss, or ex-Spouse, or how to get a good rate at a hotel. She covers an extensive list of the negotiating situations we all find ourselves in. There is an appendix of negotiation terms. Just today, after I had read a little of her book, I found myself suddenly in a situation where I had to be negotiating, and quickly. As I lost it, yelling down the phone what I wanted, I thought, "Oh, my goodness, I have to finish How to Negotiate Like a Pro!" I picked it back up and read like fury. Next time, ah, I will have all of it down pat, thanks to this very thorough book which can be used constantly as a reference as the daily world hurls us its negotiating moments.

Mary Greenwood is highly qualified to write such a book, having been a negotiator most of her professional career as an Attorney, Mediator, Human Resources Director, Union Negotiator, Arbitrator and Law School Professor. After you read this book, you will be able to negotiate "like a professional." I love that it is written by a highly qualified woman, and I recommend this book, not only for men, but for women, like me, who might take a worse offer than bargain for our rights or for a better deal. The author makes this business everybody's business and throws a lot of dignity into the mix. Don't forget to read the one about "you can negotiate with a lunatic," when she goes on to discuss doing so with your ex-spouse!

And, by the way, she has another award-winning book out called, How to Mediate Like a Pro.

Mary Greenwood has won six book awards for her book How to Negotiate Like A Pro; is a finalist in the Self-Help Category for the National Best Books 2007 Awards awarded by USABookNews. She won the 2006 DIY Book Festival Prize for Best "How To Book." She has a long list of other similar awards that are impressive, including Honorable Mention in the Self-Help Category from the London Book Festival 2007, and Runner-Up in the e-Book Category and the Self-Help Category in the New York Book Festival 2007. This book is well laid out and easy to read and would appeal to everyone because of its broad spectrum of situations where we mediate. I highly recommend it.

It needs to be on your shelf!

Negotiating is something we all do in our life, whether on a legal level, management level or personal level. While Mary Greenwood's book may be small in size it is big on advice. A set of concise and well written rules it offers a roadmap for the successful outcome of any negotiation.

Mary Greenwood clearly knows much about negotiation and mediation and shares her hard won expertise in her book "How to Negotiate like a Pro". Having been a bill collector for 18 years this is something every business owner, or bill collector must learn and know. I highly recommend this book to anyone who deals with people and difficult people and anyone who wants to be succesful and make more money. Mary has 25 years or experience in negotiations and it is apparent in her easy to undertand book that gives you all the rules, examples and information you need to become a good negotiator. Mary lists each rule and offers you tips, ideas and detailed explanations on how and when to use it in your negotiations. Whether it is with an employee, a customer or a client, you will find this book can help you resolve any dispute that comes your way and you will come out on top. I am going to offer this as a companion book to anyone who buys my book Second Edition Starting a Collection Agency, How to make money collecting money since negotiations is a big part of being a bill collector. I highly recommend this little book that can make or break your success

Greenwood draws upon her extensive experience as a mediator to come up with a clearly written, succinct set of 41 concise rules for negotiating that are applicable not only to labor issues but also useful to everyday interactions with coworkers and family. This book is readily accessible to all because it is written in standard English, not in legal jargon. As one who is not familiar with legal terminology, I found the Glossary to be especially valuable, as are the other Appendices. For each of the 41 rules, Greenwood provides a sample script that summarizes how one can deal with this point. For example, Rule 31 - "Watch the other side's body language", with the script that follows " When he does not look me in the eye, I think he is lying." Many of the 41 rules should be, but often are not, a matter of common sense in dealing with others; Rule 41 - "Do not expect thanks or gratitude when it is all over."

I have found this book to be an excellent guide for reasonable rules regarding how to interact with others, whether they are supervisors, employees, students, friends or family. I recommend it highly.

probably my favourite of new reiki books this year. THIS is how reiki should be encouraged in ourselves, our students and in others. Amy (whom I've never met) has written a wonderful book which offers much to think about, much to try and some GREAT approaches in learning to BE reiki and BE the energy. There are a good number of books out there wherein one can learn how to be sooooo Japanese and there are numbers of books which repeat the same old information but this book truly ADDS to the knowledge of reiki in the world... So far, of the over 125 books about Reiki which I own, this is one of my favourites.

A Much-Needed Resource for Reiki Practitioners of ALL Levels!

Review Date: 2006-11-02
So many reiki practitioners are taught how to do reiki, i.e, hand positions, varying symbols and techniques, meditation and so on, but so little time is actually spent helping the student of reiki to actually learn how to be OPEN to the intuitive flow that is essentially a part of true reiki practice. Most teachers, in fact, may not even be aware how to tap into the intuitive flow themselves.

How does reiki actually show us what to work on with a client? How do you learn to interpret the signals and signs you receive while giving a healing treatment? What steps can a reiki practitioner take to become more open to the messages contained within the human energy field and the flow of energy from the universe?

Rowland's book is chock full of *useful* and helpful information designed to teach both reiki students and other teachers *how* to be open and aware of these signs, these messages. Written in a concise, straightforward manner, the book is nonetheless a great storehouse of information that is much needed at this time and particularly in this country, where most of the reiki practitioners are left to sort out for themselves exactly what to do with what they "receive" from a client during a treatment.

Rowland teaches classes in Reiki and Intuition and this book is based on her work with these classes and with teaching students from all levels of Reiki how to tune in to their intuitive processes. As such, it is a great success. Rowland is neither self-important nor does she waste any time in criticism of any other practices or techniques; what is taught here can be implemented into ANY reiki practice, regardless of lineage or style.

I had already intended to take Rowland's class; after reading this book, I am more interested than ever, not because the book is insufficient, but because her writing style is so engaging, that I want to study with her more! I have met her in person and reading her book does sound exactly like speaking with her in person. It's a good read, interesting, and well-planned out. I highly recommend it for anyone who is Reiki.

This fascinating book is geared toward the person who already knows what reiki is and has already been attuned. I am attuned for Reiki I and II, and was introduced to many new ideas and ways of using reiki in this book. Mostly the book deals with the intuitive aspects of reiki, and this is a subject that was no more than mentioned in my training. The book presents in depth ideas about how reiki enhances intuition and how intuitive reiki can lead to more effective healing. For the person who knows nothing about reiki and wants to learn, I recommend "Practical Reiki" by Mari Hall. For the person who knows a little more about reiki, "Intuitive Reiki for Our Times" will be both interesting and inspirational. Someone who is interested in developing intuition might also like this book.

Amy Rowland's new book is beautifully written and thoughtfully told. Through personal stories and examples of dialogue with her clients and students, Amy clearly demonstrates how the subtle energy of intuition can be perceived, understood and incorporated in all levels of Reiki practice.
In addition to the exceptional writing, style, and content, the most compelling reason to read Amy's book is how magically it imparts, to the reader, her beautiful Spirit and the Spirit of Reiki.

I bought this book when it was first published in the 90's. I haven't found another book that is as good. I have used it so much that my old one is falling apart. I have to buy a new one because I need the book. The book is 402 pages long. There may be a few trendy herbs that are aren't mentioned but not many. This book lists the bodily influences each herb has on the body and gives a long list for the uses of each herb. Bold lettering is used to indicate when an herb has a profound, SIGNIFICANT effectiveness .This book has helped me a lot. The only drawback to the contents is I would like to know what vitamins are in each herb etc. I have used this book to treat numerous ailments.

The Little Herb Encyclopedia...okay, not the greatest.

There are many herbs not in the book. Explanations are a bit on the hazy side. No ideas on how to use the herbs...BUT...it's great for what it does have, tells of many things each herb can be used for. Just wish it were more complete!
With all this, I still have had no thought of returning the one I bought for myself at the store. Bought one from Amazon for a friend who works much with herbs, etc., as she said it was on her wish list.
p.s...get the spiral bound one...much easier to use.

Every time you read it, you find something you didn't see before.

I have dozens of herb books. It never fails to amaze me how thorough this book is. If you want info on an obscure herb or obscure info on a common herb, this is the book for you.

I'm glad to see there is a spiral bound version. I'm buying a second copy to have it in spiral. It is literally a book you can study from and want to take notes from. The spiral version will make that easier.

WONDERFUL REFERENCE OF INDIVIDUAL HERBS

Review Date: 2003-09-17
This book is absolutely the best one I have seen when it comes to being thorough for the different uses of each herb. It has listings of primary and secondary conditions affected by the herbs, after a write up of usually close to a page on each one. In the write up it elaborates on many of the uses, and often gives historical uses. I find it a vital reference guide and refer to it VERY often!!! Is easy to understand, contains warnings about the herbs that need it, and is really the most informative guide to herbal usage.

I bought the new, soft paperbound book, and it fell apart on the way home from the store. After using it for a while I decided it was invaluable and ordered (YEAY!) a spiral bound book from Amazon.com. I definitely recommend the spiral bound as the way to go if you can get it! But even if you get a paperbound copy and it should fall apart, it is worth 50 times the money, and worth the extra care you need to take of the book. (Hopefully everyone is not as physically "hard" on books as I am!)

I'd recommend this book for anyone who has ever been bitten by a tick, or wondered what to do if they were. Doctors love to shrug a tick bite off with a round of antibiotics. Obviously, if it were that easy to get rid of Lyme Disease, people wouldn't still have it. I'd also recommend it to anyone who suffers from chronic pain, illness, or injury. I don't have Lyme disease. However, I'm suffering from an occupational injury at work, and I found the natural detox strategies outlined in the book to be helpful. I think the information about wellness in general and the role that hope and faith play in a person's recovery to be universally relevant. I love the author's honesty about the emotional and practical struggles she encounters. She talks about real things that other authors often overlook in health books: money woes, job concerns, doubts, and moments of emotional crisis. Yet the book leaves me with a great sense of hope - for recovery, for wellness, and for emotional healing. She goes beyond the medical and speaks to the spiritual aspect of suffering. Unlike other books, she manages to do this without being preachy or dogmatic. If you are currently suffering from Lyme Disease, there are excellent references and resources contained in the book. I don't think most MDs would know about a lot of the therapies here. Lyme Disease is still not fully understood. The author has a way of spinning the woes of being human into something that can be digested, understood, examined, and ultimately laughed at, or at least smiled upon. A big thumbs up for this book.

When I first met Connie, and began reading her blog, I could tell right away she was gifted in sifting through information and finding the "nuggets" with the most value. But writing a good book requires more than just that skill. It also requires having the clarity and vision to know how, and when, to communicate the information to readers. Connie brings all this to the table unquestionably. And as a bonus, her writing style is very encouraging and uplifting and after reading her book, you really do feel better and more hopeful in a way that allows you to keep fighting and researching. I truly believe this book is an asset to the Lyme disease community.

Natural Choices for Women's Health is a must have reference for all women. This book details a very complete list of common female health issues including everything from anxiety and breast cancer through fatigue and hot flashes to PMS and weight gain. In each of these cases, this book gives the reader ideas on what she can do to help alleviate these issues as well as medical resources available for dealing with these conditions.

Though I found these aspects helpful and appealing, the part of this book I was most impressed with was the assessment of health issues according to the five elements. At first, I thought that figuring out my element type was just a bit of fun, rather like determining my star sign. However, once I found my element type I started to realize the significance of this very important information. It seems that certain element types are more or less prone to certain afflictions. Moreover, the ways to treat imbalances need to be tailored to suit the person's element type.

My element type and associated health issues were dead on describing me in amazing detail, giving me tremendous insight into myself as well as health and medical information that I could actually use to make myself feel better.

I saw this book recently on CNN and heard the author talking about it. I bought the book and must say I was not disappointed. This is just a fantastic book. It really delves into areas of natural health that other books on the topic just don't cover. For instance the area of breast health for women or the part about the health of the pelvis. There's just nothing out there that does such a fantastic job covering women's health as this book does. I am getting a tremendous amount out of this book. I give it an A plus, ten stars.

I have tried several well known herbs who are suppossed to relax you and make you sleep better but this one is really the best. After that I bought the book and it's great. It's an easy read and gives Chinese medicine the attention it deserves. I recommend this book to everyone.

The author describes the journey that this book represents not as being a "how-to" guide for Reiki, but as a "why-to." Narrin truly feels that Reiki cannot be adequately described, and therefore she leaves that to the reader to find their own Reiki experience. Thus, the book is left to be a journey into understanding the tangible, real-life benefits of approaching life holistically and with intention.

I strongly reccomend this book to everyone, not just Reiki practitioners. It will honestly enrich our human experience. Jus the author's personal story related in the book is wonderful, and it is so nice to see a Reiki book that isn't regurgitating the same information as every other.

I tried using one of the plant energy experiments on a dead Dogwood tree in our front yard that was killed by lightning over twenty years ago and within four weeks of using the twenty minutes worth of Reiki energy on the dead tree stump, there appeared four new sprouts right beside the stump that were little Dogwood trees.

In the back of the book there is a personal journal for a month worth of your energy healing and journal to learn if you are actually living in the moment being aware and grounded or spending the majority of your day zoned out on other things like daydreaming/ worry Etc...

After reading and studing this book, I have found that the insights Janeanne Narrin brings, along with the "ways" to learn about, and get into contact with this energy bring to life something we all "know" exists. It allows us to step by step tune in and tune up!..

Good reading, and a better study guide.... much "fuller" than any other I have studied...I recommend highly and am hoping Janeanne creates a sequal ...

I love the attention to detail and the beautiful artwork that this book contains. The layout is well done and I find it causes me to be drawn into the text. The exercises are interesting and unique to most Reiki books. Her descriptions make the practice of Reiki easy to understand and the drawings are helpful. The storys add interest and give a refreshing perspective. Certainly a lot of thought has been given to the creation of this very useful Reiki book.

Having read Janeanne's book from the perspective of a novice in the world of Reiki, I was especially drawn in by her stories of personal transformation. My goal in learning about Reiki is similar: to transform my life through new methods AND new perspectives, which her book helps me do. I would highly recommmend this to anyone who is new to Reiki and is looking for a CONTEXT of Reiki in their life's pursuits.

What a terrific resource this book is! This book is a comprehensive compendium of facts regarding herbal solutions. It is written in an easy to read style. To often today folks reach for the next "best" pharmaceutical when often a less expensive, less dangerous and sometimes more efficient solution can be found in nature. This book is a good guide for those willing to step outside of western medical mind-set.

By far the most scientific based compilation of information on herbology. Dr. Tillotson provides clear, organized information in a systems based format. As an osteopathic physician I highly recommend this source to all medical professionals interested in integrated western and eastern approaches to health and disease.

With my previous pregnancies I have ordered and read quite some books on natural childbirth and methods to deal with pain; and some stories about painless, even extatic births! This book is a unique guide on how to prepare oneself for a painless and pleasurable birth. It offers a lot of information, advice and true stories, but the big part of the job is to be done by the user. There is really a lot a mother can do if she wants to. And several months seem enoughf time to do it. I have recomended the book to all my pregnant coworkers, frinds and the mothers attending classes with me. Some of them are truelly ecxited; other wonder where to start from; but all of them grasp the consept that birth is not a punishment and hence does not need to be painfull. For some of us the idea that it can be pleasurable seems as natural as love itsels, for others it requires a lot of time and effort, somethimes with the help of proffesionals as therapists, natural healers and dulas. There is one quote from this book I would like to share: According to statistics, about 1 % of womem do not experience any pain during childbirth. With 4 milion birthing women per year in the US it means that 40,000 mothers do not experince pain! If 40,000 women can do, I can do it as well; anyone can do it!!!

A must read before giving birth!

This is a must read for every pregnant woman before she gives birth. It was refreshing to read about the mental game of childbirth instead of just the physical aspects. It really made me think about what I could possibly be carrying around mentally that might inhibit me from having the best possible birth. It really gets you in touch with yourself and where you are with your fears and doubts about your birth so that you can address these issues and clear them away beforehand. A fabulous read!!

I enjoyed reading Painless Childbirth by Giuditta Tornetta, she is a birth doula and also uses hypnosis with her clients. It was a positive, uplifting book about pregnancy and birth. It is always wonderful to have a book showing that birth can be comfortable and enjoyable. I had a painless childbirth (with no medication) with my last baby, so I know it can be done. I wish more moms knew about hypnosis as an option for birth.

Reasons I liked this book:
It shows that birth can be comfortable and enjoyable. There are some good birth stories included, under many different circumstances, home birth, hospital births, induced births, etc. These stories demonstrate how mom's beliefs can create their reality.

The book helps moms see how they can be empowered by educating themselves and making choices that are best for them and their baby! Birth is not a one size fits all kind of situation. Learn what your choices are, trust your body and baby and you can be empowered.

The only thing that would make me hesitant to say every mom should read the book, is that it is fairly "new-agey". Personally, I am pretty open minded, so this didn't bother me. I just took what I liked and dismissed what didn't fit into my beliefs. For instance, Giuditta divided the book into 10 months, and connected the chakras to the different months of pregnancy. I found that interesting, but others might be turned off by that.

Some moms are very hesitant to try hypnosis for childbirth, because they worry it won't fit into their belief structure. One thing I like about Hypnobabies is that it is very main stream and can fit into anyone's beliefs. It isn't new-agey at all. I would worry that some of these moms, if they started to read this book would straight away assume that hypnosis is only for new-agey people.

In conclusion I would let moms know if they are open to new and different ideas, then this is a great book for them to read in preparation for birth. It will give them some tools and ideas to help them prepare for birth and parenting. I would add that they most likely will need more than just this book for preparation. If they want more tools, scripts, childbirth information, etc. Hypnobabies would give them these things.

This book really does Dispell FEAR in childbirth!

This book really helped me understand how I can have a pain free birth. If I let go and surrender, accept instead of reject, the pain of labor IS truly manageable! Now I can't wait to labor with love! Awesome read!

A joyful birth really IS possible!

I approached motherhood with tremendous fear because of stories handed down about problem births of my mother and grandmother, because of fears about hospitals and doctors, and what I didn't realize was the heavy programming from movies, books and stories that childbirth had to be a matter of screaming pain or painkillers-- when clearly millions of mothers have given birth without either throughout history. I realized I could not have a happy drug-free experience of actually being present at this momentous life-changing event if I did not ameliorate these worries and apprehensions. Using the techniques in this book does work to help a woman alleviate previous preconceptions and approach birthing with a relaxed and sacred feeling of creating new life and bonding with her child. I cannot recommend it enough. With the help of a midwife (not the author) I had a wonderful birthing experience which I will always treasure knowing my son got the best possible start in life. Yes, it was intense labor but absolutely painfree. Honestly. We both participated in the miracle of birth in every way and it was joyful indeed! Giuditta Tornetta knows exactly what is best for mother and child.
