Recovery for LifeReview Date: 2008-02-14
"Welcome to an MS world that is not dark and dismal, but a place filled with hope, progress, and gratitude," Ms. Sawyer confidently states in the introduction to this clearly formulated, comprehensive plan for controlling this devastating disease. What MS sufferer would not want to discover how to achieve this?
Not only is MS clearly defined in highly readable, medically backed terms, but specific aids to recovering one's health are given, such as "The Benefits of Exercises" (highly specific) and "Depression: A Block to Healing." Both "Ann's Story" and "Judi's Story" are deeply moving. I have the greatest respect for the steps these courageous women have taken in their transformations from compromised physical lives to those of normalcy. The stories of other MS sufferers also provide direction and support.
And the diet? Once you find the "trigger" foods--those that aggravate your MS symptoms--you can stick with a diet (and partake of the 140 pages of delicious recipes) that will lead to the recovery of your life.

I feel extremely lucky to have found this book!Review Date: 2008-03-29
But there were things I didn't know in regards to food & MS. This book explains why diet is important & how different foods effect MS. I also enjoyed reading all the personal case histories of real MS patients who have tried this diet.
I plan on staying on this diet the rest of my life. (I want to do everything possible for me to achieve the best possible outcome, so I also take one of the MS drugs (Avonex) in addition to this diet.)
Also, this book explained more to me about the disease of MS than all the neurologist's I have seen put together. I am deeply grateful to Ann Sawyer & Judith Bachrach for writing this book...Thank You!

At Last! No more Provera!Review Date: 1999-10-02
I have (and would) recommend this book to any woman who will listen to it's message. It is a thorough, direct and comprehensive alternative to horse pee and PMS (as we "natural women" refer to our previous regimen) and it is my belief that these are the hormone replacements of the future. And, thanks to Laux and Conrad, some of us have it now!

A must read before giving birth!Review Date: 2008-06-20
A unique guide Review Date: 2008-07-20
Wonderful for the Open MindedReview Date: 2008-06-20
Reasons I liked this book:
It shows that birth can be comfortable and enjoyable. There are some good birth stories included, under many different circumstances, home birth, hospital births, induced births, etc. These stories demonstrate how mom's beliefs can create their reality.
The book helps moms see how they can be empowered by educating themselves and making choices that are best for them and their baby! Birth is not a one size fits all kind of situation. Learn what your choices are, trust your body and baby and you can be empowered.
The only thing that would make me hesitant to say every mom should read the book, is that it is fairly "new-agey". Personally, I am pretty open minded, so this didn't bother me. I just took what I liked and dismissed what didn't fit into my beliefs. For instance, Giuditta divided the book into 10 months, and connected the chakras to the different months of pregnancy. I found that interesting, but others might be turned off by that.
Some moms are very hesitant to try hypnosis for childbirth, because they worry it won't fit into their belief structure. One thing I like about Hypnobabies is that it is very main stream and can fit into anyone's beliefs. It isn't new-agey at all. I would worry that some of these moms, if they started to read this book would straight away assume that hypnosis is only for new-agey people.
In conclusion I would let moms know if they are open to new and different ideas, then this is a great book for them to read in preparation for birth. It will give them some tools and ideas to help them prepare for birth and parenting. I would add that they most likely will need more than just this book for preparation. If they want more tools, scripts, childbirth information, etc. Hypnobabies would give them these things.
This book really does Dispell FEAR in childbirth!Review Date: 2008-05-24

Absolutely Fantastic...gardener or not, don't miss this one.Review Date: 2002-05-24
The subject matter is wonderful, chock full of ideas and suggestions at growing a garden that is perfect JUST FOR YOU.I loved the "gardening personality" test and so will you. But what I especially loved is Eva Shaw's no nonsense, down home friendly way of writing.I just love this book...it is upbeat, positive and downright funny at times. But it also hits on the truths of the ups and downs we ALL experience in life and how the simple act of gardening can and will restore us. I've already given my sister a copy and I want to order 10 more for gifts. If you're a gardener already, you will defiitely smile and relate to these pages. If you're not, read it because I bet you'll be a gardener before you're done. Thank you Eva Shaw!

Sheila J. Rogers Has Opened Doors of HOPE!Review Date: 2007-06-27
As a concert-pianist, music therapist, author, and an individual living with Tourette Syndrome, I must "take my hat off" to Sheila Rogers for bringing together a cascade of knowledge by various doctors, pediatric neurologists,
authors and many other leading authorities. As there is no cure for Tourette Syndrome, parents, families and adults are desperately seeking out new innovations and ideas with the hope that somewhere a new approach/approaches will come to the forefront. This book offers exactly what so many have been looking for, thought provoking ideas without the side-effects of medication, approaches that
are natural and display underlying common sense!
Since reading the book, I have followed many of the innovative ideas and have found improvement in my own tics.
As a music therapist, which is also a natural, non side effect technique, I have incorporated the many findings in this book with my own student's!
BRAVO! SHEILA J. ROGERS!, what will you come up with next!

This book is great for that.
I was really hoping for more specific guidelines though, for example.
How to prepare for an ELISA test (if this is possible)
Where to get an ELISA test done.
Start off with X,Y,Z suppliments.
Eliminate one food group at a time.
Common alternatives to common (problem) foods are ...
Staying strong and avoiding temptations (there are a few excellent ideas on this in the book but I felt that they could have been restated towards the end of the book)
I understand that this information IS in the book but I just felt that after reading it I needed more guidance.
Changing your diet is hard enough - when you have such a deeply compelling reason for changing it I feel that one cannot have too much guidance in acheiving it.
