Rheumatoid Arthritis runs in my family and 1.5 years ago I was also diagnosed. I have recently taken myself off Methotrexate because of the way it lowers the immune system. I was very worried about how to treat the disease at this point. This book offered hope in a new and interesting way to provide arthritis relief with regular exercise or Qigong. The diagrams are very well done and easy to follow, and the exercises seem much better than what I received from my Rheumatologist. What was really exciting is the possibility that Qigong may cure arthritis, with my persistence of the exercises. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to prevent, treat, and heal arthritis!

Written by a Chinese martial arts and Qigong instructor who has trained and practiced since 1961, Arthritis Relief: Chinese Qigong For Healing And Prevention is now in an updated third edition with revised instructions for performing its suggested exercises. Presented as a complement to Western medicine, which is more proficient at relieving pain and inflammation than promoting full healing, Arthritis Relief demonstrates Qigong exercises and massage/acupressure techniques designed to rebuild the strength of one's joints, as well as an overview of arthritis itself and the dietary, genetic, and other factors that cause it. Black-and-white photographs demonstrate the recommended exercises and body movements. Though it cannot replace a visit to one's physician, Arthritis Relief is a welcome, easy-to-follow supplement especially for those suffering from arthritis and who want to do something more about it than just taking medicine.

This book presents these underlying concepts in a very comprehensive, but easy-to-read and fascinating way. The stories of healing with Qigong are not exaggerated. Lay people can generate sufficient healing energy using Dr. Chow's methods to be felt by others and to assist healing, in our case, my daughter's very severe ulcerative colitis.

I have written a review for "Qigong" by Sifu John A Bright-Fey and what I said there is also relevant to this book. But, in addition, may I reemphasized this point. I am mortally ill. In fact, I am dying. But, Sifu Bright-Fey demeanour is so lovely and cheerful, as illustrated in the DVD and in the book, that I cannot help but to smile as well. Similarly, Sifu Bright-FEy's cheerfulness is reflected in every page of the book, making reading the book and practising the movement a real fun exercise to do. Thank you Sifu. Dr Jusuf Hariman.

In the "Getting Started" section of "Morning Cup of Qigong," John Bright-Fey writes that Qigong "is no more complicated than playing a child's game and no more mysterious than a smile." With that, he started me on a path that appears to have no end, but one that has already taken me many wonderful places.

It has been my experience that playing the 10 simple activities at the heart of this book provides me with the opportunity to rediscover what it means to be human and to live in a brighter, richer world each and every day. For me, the real magic here lies less in what I've realized for myself (and that's magical enough!) than in the ways it has affected how I interact with the people I meet. I have so much more fun at the grocery store or conducting business on the phone when I remember that smile he mentioned. And I guess it really isn't all that mysterious -- when I bring some of the New Forest "Number 1 - Fun" to my interactions, I seem to get it back 10-fold. I still accomplish my tasks in a straightforward efficient manner, and everyone gets to smile and, frequently, share more than a few laughs along the way.

When I first began taking my New Forest skills off my back porch where I play my Qigong, I was surprised when I was asked, "What are you ON!?" or "What happened to you this morning? Take a happy pill, did you?" It's an almost daily occurrence now. While the initial surprise has gone, the simple joy is constantly renewed. To quote the author one more time, "In reality, the wonders of the New Forest with all the secrets and adventures will always be with you." I know this to be true.

After buying this book and playing all 10 of the exercises I had an experience that was very surprising and re-assuring. One morning my husband and I had a tree fall on our house...literally out of the clear blue sky, onto our breakfast room where we were finishing coffee. After we both scrambled out of the way, and had checked in with each other ( and the cat) to see that all was well, I realized that I was bristling with 9 shine. Totally spontaneously and un-rehearsed, my body mind had protected me with very quick movement and sensitivity. Protective chi ! yes siree. My qiqong practice (esp 9 shine) will never feel the same.

A terrific self-healing guide!

The market is flooded with qigong (chi kung) books. The magazines are filled with "masters" of this esoteric discipline. There are classes in every major city across the world. So how do we, as novices, determine which system or master is best-siuted to us? We try them and stick with what works.

For 30 years I have suffered from migraines, chronic spinal pain, and a general lack of energy. I have tried the Western treatments of massage, chiropractic, and bio-feedback. Nothing worked. I then purchased this little book of qigong exercises by FaXiang Hou and Mark Wiley, I practiced the self-healing exericises as described for three months. The result: I am pain free!!!

I am truly amazed at the efficacy of the exercises, and even at the seemingly simple presentation of the material in the book. It does not bog the reader down with heavy discourse, philosophy, or Eastern thought. What it does do is offer in clear language the exercises needed to build and maintain vital energy (qi) in the body to relieve and prevent pain and illness.

It works and you should by this book if all else has failed!

An EXCELLENT book on QiGong!

Master Yap and Chok Hiew have given a real gift to the world. Today everyone is trying to figure out how to let go and become present.

Well here are these two very humble people who are making this available to all. The way home.

Master Yap knows how to teach students meditation to become present in a way that facilitates healing. His students can all experience the same results. This is reproducible and simple. He has taught thousands of students this way of meditation.

Chok Hiew has worked to put into words this experience. Not always an easy task. It has been done wonderfully in this book.He also spend much time teaching students how to meditate in this simple way.

I watch so many spiritutal seeker looking for a way to find peace. When students learn this practice they get to experience peace first hand. It is alway a profound experience and one that sets a person on a journey home.

A very simple way to meditate that will lead you to profound healing.
I am most grateful for this book and the first hand experience of being trained in this practice by both Chok Hiew and Master Yap. I know this book will facilitate your journey home to peace.

Some years ago in Spain i had the chance to have a healing with Master Yap, in that healing i saw two bright lights around me. The light flowed from top to down softly, after that i felt so happy and light as i have never experienced before.
This year after a very hard training with our Master in Malaysia i could see clearly what he shines to heal us. I can not tell you all the things i saw and lived there because some people would say that they are lies.
Instead I invite you to practice this style of Qi Gong so you can see and feel it by yourself
Master Yap Soon Yeong is an extraordinary healer. Learn from him. I promise you there will be no regrets.
Thank you Master Yap for your teachings and healings
Thank you Doctor Chok for sharing this book to the world
Thank you Nan

Be well and happy
and hugs to all CFQ practitioners

I simply love this powerful, yet deceptively simple book. It is teaching me to listen to my inner wisdom and that the less I think, the more powerful changes occur. For me, it is a map for the process of being in the moment. It is unique to find a book that provides teachings backed by visual demonstrations, and commentary.

I was so impressed that I have gifted and recommended this book to many of my friends, colleagues, and clients.

Chi Kung or Qigong is an extremely powerful meditation system of Tai Chi. It is powerful because its practices induce proper chi flow. Hence it is very important to do the practices correctly. This is where this book is really a 5 star! The practices are described in great detail which is very important. Also, I would say that the practices are really powerful if done the right way. You may come across other books on Chi Kung with slightly varying practices or totally different, but the practices given in this book are very powerful as well as SAFE!!! I would strongly recommend "Embrace Tiger Return to Mountain" by Chungliang Al Huang so as to fully understand and appreciate the depth of these simple yet powerful exercises. I would bet on anything that this book coupled with Embrace Tiger Return to Mountain would outshine any book as far as understanding and implementing the principles of Tai Chi are concerned. So I would say - "Go ahead and buy the two books!"

As a relative newcomer to the world of Tai Chi (Taiji), I found the information in this book invaluable. Unlike the vast number of "how to do" books on Tai Chi, this book offers a complete range of Tai Chi specific Chi Kung (Qigong)exersises to re-build and preserve the base energy and looseness required not only to enhance your Tai Chi practice, but in fact to enhance your general well-being on a daily basis. As one of the millions of people who has been "touched" by the sometimes overpowering effects of stress I am constantly looking for "ways" or "keys" to re-charge my batteries ..... this book is one of those "keys". The information offered is straightforward, clearly written and offers clear insights as to how the practice of Tai Chi and Tai Chi Chi Kung can enhance your daily life. The use of line drawings (not photographs) for the exersises themselves, I think really enhances the "feel" of the book.

Whether you be a Tai Chi enthusiast, someone who is feeling the pressure of work or home life, or just someone looking for a way to feel more relaxed, alive and energised ...... this 165 page book offers a wealth of information not easily found in one small package.

I can also whole heartedly recommend to any other new Tai Chi enthusiast Master Khor's book "Tai Chi ... the way to a healthy life".

Chinese medical Qigong therapy : a comprehensive clinical gu

The author's professed purpose of writing this book was to provide information concerning the professional standards of knowledge and skill required in contemorary China to obtain a license as "Doctor of Medical Qigong Therapy," and additionally to describe effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods of Medical Qigong therapy, as established by the Hai Dian Medical Qigong College of Beijing, and thereby provide a textbook for training to that standard under the guidance of a qualified instructor. As such, it is fair to say that there has never been as thorough an explication of medical qigong as is offered in this book. It joins with other current commendable efforts aimed at bringing the traditional medical knowledge of China into the sphere of English-speaking readers.

The book is divided into 12 sections. The first four focus on building a comprehensive foundation in energetic medicine. The second four focus on guidelines for establishing a Medical Qigong clinic and for diagnosing and treating problems of qi deviations. The final four sections focus on treatment modalities, medical qigong prescriptions, regulation exercises, and scientific research in Medical Qigong clinical therapy. The text includes discussions of energetic embryology; energetic anatomy and physiology; training techniques for recognizing, developing, and emitting qi; energetic pathology and qi deviations; energetic diagnosis and symptomatology; clinical practice of Medical Qigong theory; energetic psychology; treating cancer; tumors and other diseases; step-by-step Medical Qigong prescriptions; establishing a clinic; and scientific evidence of the efficacy of Medical Qigong therapy. Many charts, graphs, and illustrations complement the verbal material.

Ok, back in 1999/2000 I was all about trying to find books in the enlglish language that gave the reader step-by-step working techniques in Taoist Magick/Sorcery. Some unfamiliar with Zheng Yi Taoism pass off Taoism as just a "form of philosophy". They were never exposed to the Zheng Yi magickal side that involves registries of spirits and gods and demons, and techniques on how to command these celestial beings to command millions of spirits under their command. The paranormal side is something that Paul Dong covers in some of his books, but this series is THE best to put it ALL TOGETHER! This is actually one of the best metaphysical systems over all complete with healing, qigong, inner alchemy, yoga, psychic development, magical techniques, metaphysical understanding of the multi-verse, psychology, treatment and diagnosis of the whole spectrum disorders with Qigong medicine, energy work, energy anatomy and physiology, etc, etc, everything, EVERYTHING!!!!!

Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson has done us a favor by being the first to present such powerful information in the English Language at such a level. Before him, you would have had to speak Mandarin to learn such material.

He deserves over 5 stars. I hope that in the future, he will take me in as a personal apprentice!!!

If your into Oriental Medicine, Internal marial arts, qigong/yoga, Eastern Metaphysics and magick, then THIS ONE....THIS SERIES...THIS AUTHOR...IS...THE...RIGHT...ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
