Georgia's Bones by Jen Bryant is a children's picturebook based on the life of artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Introducing young readers the world of a talented female artist, who sees the natural of beauty of New Mexico, even in such mundane things as bones, Georgia's Bones blends lyrical rhyme with sweeping color illustrations by Bethanne Andersen, and introduces the reader to the soul-stirring natural world, that can be summoned to mind and memory even when far away.

Along with the images of young soldiers staring at us through the veil of time we are given images of monuments and cemeteries when they, like the soldiers they honor, were young. Most of these statues and obelisks are still standing, still honoring the Confederate soldier, though now aged with a patina that only time can create. Dr. Wiggins has gone to enormous lengths to capture for all time the unique tributes Georgia has made to its soldiers of long ago.

Tells about 135 locations for finding the most valuable gems and minerals in Georgia. Includes a county-by-county list of known valuable sites.
35 Indian treasures and the stories behind them. Includes some small maps, and other directions.
I had never suspected the extent of the diamond finds in Georgia! Wish I had known about this book years ago!
This book has the most thorough discussion of the so-called Lost Confederate Treasury Train/Wagons that I have ever seen! Very detailed, with names, witnesses, and places.
Also has other interesting material on pictographs, (Indian) signs, divining rods, and metal detectors.
Highly recommended.

A fascinating book. Whilst I am no expert in this area (12th century alternative land use in Norflok being my field (as it were) of speciality) I fully appreciated the author's ability to take what some might think of as an ever so slightly specialised subject for study and expound upon it, thereby highlighting the relevance of Georgian women to women of today.
I struggled to put this book down. Dan Brown eat your heart out.

Part of the "Images of America" series cherishing beloved local landmarks, Georgia's Lighthouses is a treasury of black-and-white archival photographs of lighthouses built along Georgia's 100-mile coastline. Images of the Cockspur Light, Sapelo Light, Simons Light, and Cumberland Light (now located on a private island) along with brief yet evocative captions help recreate the vibrant history of these historical buildings. Some of the pictures and captions are quite telling, such as one of a chicken coop - "Lighthouse keepers often cultivated gardens and raised chickens to help feed their families. Many keepers took second jobs to make ends meet." Written by the executive director of the Coastal Georgia Historical Society and the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum, Georgia's Lighthouses is a superb giftbook for lighthouse enthusiasts.

Searcy's book is a welcome and much needed addition to the early Revolutionary War period along the southern front. Her exhaustive research covers the turmoil along the Georgia-Florida border during 1776-1778 and its repercussions on the eventual outcome of the American Revolution. Her sweeping historical narrative ranges from the decisions made in the Continental Congress to the devastating effects on the settlers from the constant raids, skirmishes, and battles between the Georgia patriots and the Florida loyalists. The book can be read for historic detail or as an informative and interesting narrative or both. It certainly rates a place on any bookshelf to complememnt the considerable literature on the Revolutionary War in the northern colonies during this period.
