Intensive Consonant Pronunciation Practice is more than worth the money. The material is extensive, systematic, well categorized, and fairly easy to understand, and includes lots of exercise and practice. This is a thick book and a lot of work went into it. There's enough content here for many, many lessons.

This book was very interesting and contained detailed information about the history of the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Boal talks about all of the struggles that were gone through to bring the camp and the academy to life. The book was very interesting to me an Interlochen Arts Camp alumnus and I believe it would be to other alumni. The book would be helpful to anyone interested in learning more about Interlochen and all of the changes the camp and academy have gone through and the dreams that were made here and achieved here. I believe the book would also be helpful to anyone considering attending the camp or the academy and his/her parents.

This is a book I use for all levels of college because it's excellent. It has exercises to increase speed, find main ideas, improve and expand vocabulary, and much more. The readings range from very short to about a page and can be used for warm-ups, cool downs, or core lessons. They are interesting and often filled with facts that students will enjoy learning, instead of silly stories that are of little value except for their reading challenge. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!!

eMarketing is a key component of our business and much of our success. Sarah's success comes from helping others, which she does very well! With so much being said about emarketing, often by self-serving authors, Sarah continues to be objective and forthcoming with real-world observations.

Great history by a superb writer

After reading years ago that The Invasion of the Crimea was cited by Churchill as a book to read to learn how to write better, I recently read this book and enjoyed it immensely. Even if you have no particular interest in the Crimea War, which I don't, Kinglake's narrative is a wonderfully well-written account of how great European nations drifted into war in the 1850s. The reader continues to encounter references to the geopolitical scene of the 1850s that are relevant to the world situation today. Kinglake writes great descriptions of leaders of the day such as Tsar Nicholas and Emperor Louis Napoleon. This edition is an exact digital reprint of an 1868 edition published in New York. If you love historical writing, don't miss this book.

This historical novel poigniantly illustrates one woman's struggle for racial identity and the reunion of her family. Set during upheaval of the US Civil War, Iola leroy; or, shadows uplifted is written from a point of view never before, or since acknowledged. Written in the late 1800's, Frances E.W.Harper was the first famous black-woman novelist in US history. A "must read" for all Americans interested in our shared past; our untold story.

Wonderful Immigration Story

Review Date: 2007-06-29
A first-hand account of life in Finland at the turn of the Nineteenth Century, Isaac Polvi gives insight into the lives of Finnish peaseants, their poverty, and their politics. A great story of Isaac's survival and his immigration to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the first half of the Twentieth Centry.

This is one of the best stories I have ever read.

Common Sense on Islam in Mali
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-01
I served as US Ambassador to Mali fifteen years ago. I wish this book had existed then. It would have helped me enormously to understand the apparently mysterious world of Malian Islam. But Soares' book is even more valuable today, when US policy makers are grappling with the possibility that Islamic extremists could turn the Sahara, including Mali's northern region, into another Afghanistan, even (some would have it) threatening US oil interests in the Gulf of Guinea.

The author brings to this book not only first-rate scholarly credentials (he has lived with the people whereof he writes) but also a refreshingly level-headed approach to a subject which is often obscured by repetitive and alarmist group thought. According to most commentary, Malian (and West African)Islam is increasingly polarized between Islamist radicals on one side and so-called traditionalists, centered in and around the Sufi brotherhoods, on the other. Soares' careful, field-honed analysis demonstrates that in Mali there is a broad spectrum of Islamic belief that defies simplistic categorization. His insights help explain why Mali's diverse Islam has been a significant component of Mali's successful democratization based on a culture of tolerance.

Anyone interested in Mali, Islam or African politics will profit from reading this well written book.
