How to make money at county tax sales in Florida
Published in Unknown Binding by Collingwood Publications (1993)

Very thorough primer on Tax sale investing
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.

Mr. Tillery's book An Investor's Guide to County Tax Sales in Florida is a complete text on the subject. Although written specifically for Florida, most of this information would apply to other states as well. There is a great shortage of actual how-to information on this kind of property investing, so this book is a rare find.

I think Ms.Windspirit has done a great job with this study guide.
There were a few proofreading errors and some problems were hard to make sense of. For example, page 16,problem #26 had angle "A" labeled so that it was difficult to tell whether the two similar triangles were isosceles or not (they weren't). P.121 problem #17 had a figure that confused me because the octagon's interior angles were shown as bisected.Problem #36 on page 291 had an incorrect letter listed as the answer, but the solution was correct. The book does a superb job reviewing all the competencies covered on the FCAT.The nonscientific calculator that is provided for use on the FCAT is well-explained with many examples. The geometry is clearly explained using many illustrations. There are good practice problems for each section and two big tests at the end of the book.Overall, you have a really good value with this study guide. If you already know the material, then you won't need this book. You can go with the Princeton Review which more to the point. If you want a whole lot of review and practice problems then this is the book for you. The only criticism is that it may be a bit overdone. You may be learning more than you need to do well on the FCAT.For example, I was tricked by problem #27 on page 17 which concerned conic sections.I also realized I couldn't read a "box and whisker" plot on another question. Both of these appeared in the diagnostic test,
In any case, all the Sunshine Standards are here.

"How to Speak Dolphin in Three Easy Lessons," by Dan Greenburg, is #11 in the "Zack Files" series of short novels for young readers. The book is illustrated by Jack E. Davis. In this installment, our hero Zack is vacationing in Florida with his dad, and discovers that he (Zack, that is) has the ability to communicate telepathically with dolphins. Before the story is over, he must solve a mystery involving the marine mammals.

This book strikes just the right balance of paranormal fantasy, silly humor, and mystery. Greenburg gets extra points for incorporating the classic board game Scrabble into the story!

This is a valuable book (resource) for budding entrepreneurs. It seems to try to cover all the bases for starting a small business, but it can't do them all well in the space available between its covers. The book is only 288 pages long. If you are in the planning stages of starting a small business, then I highly recommend you get a copy of this book. Read it, study it, and outline it. There are helpful checklists to help you grasp the subjects. You will come up with a plethora of keywords and terms that you will want to google to find Web pages giving more detailed (and maybe more current) information.

I am a SCORE counselor (Senior Corps of Retired Executives) who typically does face-to-face counseling sessions three nights a month. It would really be neat if my clients would read this book BEFORE they came to their session with me because they would pretty much be "educated customers" ready to ask educated questions. Our sessions would be so much more beneficial.

My favorite chapters were:

1. Initial business concerns
2. Your business' structure
3. Business start-up details
5. Sources of business assistance (SCORE is mentioned here)
7. Your smart business plan (and a good sample plan is included)
8. Obtaining the financing you need

The book is weak when it comes to how the Internet can be used in corresponding, hiring, and marketing. But this is just one example of how googling keywords and concepts found in the book will make the book more complete. Don't treat the book as authoritative on the law. It isn't. Nor was it ever intended to be. It is light on tax information as it relates to small business.

I was particularly impressed with the material presented in Chapter 2: Choice of Legal Entity. That subject is sorely ignored in most small business books, and it is critically important. It is a subject I regularly must spend a great deal of time discussing at my SCORE sessions. This book does a pretty good job on the topic.

Chapters 4 and 9 through 12 are easy to find fault with. The topic of each could fill a book. But having these topics covered definitely will help a budding entrepreneur know some of the issues they raise.

I would have liked the book more if Chapter 6 (marketing) had been less superficial. When I read it I got the impression that the author was more a public relations expert than a marketing expert. I generally categorize public relations as a subset of marketing. Marketing includes advertising, public relations, and a whole host of other promotion techniques. I did not get this message when I read the book. I also would have liked the book better if the Internet, email, and Web sites had been discussed more. But there are many books on those subjects. Therefore, I can't complain too much about the limited discussion of computers.

When you read this book it may feel a little like it was produced on an assembly line. Maybe it was? There are 51 versions of this book sold; the 51st is for the District of Columbia. Content is king, and this book has it. 5 stars!

THE TRUE HISTORY OF AVIATION AND IT'S COMEDY

THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE. THE BOOK HAS HISTORICAL FACTS THAT THE SMITHSONIAN MUSEUM DOES NOT HAVE. THE TRUTH ABOUT AVIATION IS THAT THE WRIGHT BROTHERS WERE NOT THE FIRST TO FLY. HUGH ROBINSON WAS THE FIRST TO FLY. THIS BOOK HAS MANY COMICAL RELEVATIONS AS TO THE CRAZY EFFORTS THE EARLY PIONEERS MADE TO FLY. THE BOOK READS VERY EASILLY AND NEVER GETS BORING.

Dr. John Attaway once more has accurately researched an important period of Florida history. Again I am disappointed that I am the only reviewer of this well written work that all who live in the Eastern United States should be aware of. If we don't know our history, it is hard to tell where we are going. I have researched his book extensively for my upcoming historical novel about southeastern Florida.

The book has some real valuable information about the various visas and how to go about obtaining one. It also covers cases where one needs to switch visa status. The topics are well divided into chapters and the book is written clearly with great case studies. (It is also available in Hebrew).

I believe this book is one of the best reading materials for anyone who wishes to legally stay in the USA, for whichever purpose. It is highly recommended, even if you have an attorney or about to get one.

Since the book hasn't been published yet, I can't really say that I've read the book. But... I regularly read Sarah Smiley's columns, and that's exactly what makes up this book. I LOVE all of her writing! Each column tells a story that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. And... I feel like they're applicable to almost any population. Yes, they are sometimes geared towards military families, but I really think that any parent, women, friend, or just observer of human nature will find insightfullness and humor in all of Sarah's writing. This book would make a great gift as well, because it's a lot of "stories" in one, that can be read over time (and again, and again). Definitely check it out!
