Somewhat dated, but mostly valid collection of papersReview Date: 2001-09-22
However, some papers that you may be tempted to reject out-of-hand, such as TRW's Ada Process Model for Incremental Development of Large Software Systems is actually worth reading for organizations that have committed to the Rational Unified Process.
Overall, the range of papers covers every aspect of software engineering project management. The applicability of the papers collected in this book to contemporary practices is uneven. Some practices are either thoroughly documented and accepted best practices (the entire section of papers on project management), or are transitioning to newer models (the material on the CMM). On the other hand, some papers in this collection are gems and make this book worthwhile despite its age (planning and estimation papers).
One final note - the layout and design of this book could be greatly improved. Despite the age and some of the shortcomings I noted this is still a worthwhile resource for software engineering professionals who are working in a CMM Level 2 or above organization.

Interpretive pedagogies, individually known as critical, feminist, phenomenological, and postmodern pedagogies, are a particular approach to schooling, learning, and teaching where the focus is placed on students and teachers working to together to learn in community oriented activities. This book uses research and nursing stories to portray a learning climate where these varieties of interpretive pedagogies weave a smooth transition to a new landscape of learning and teaching in nursing. Interpretive pedagogies promote both student and teacher learning. In nursing, which is quickly changing, this method of education provides for a constant flow of valuable knowledge.
I believe the role of the teacher will become more general, helping students find, interpret, and apply information, instead of the traditional subject matter expert. The educators in the health care professions can look to books like this for valid guidance.
I found myself pondering new thoughts and questions regarding my history of having once been a student nurse. I have to agree with the description of the traditional nursing curriculum of being teacher-centered which fostered isolation, fear and anxiety. Reading this is an explorative journey for the nurse and for nurse educators. It leaves the reader with hope that nursing education can rise to the challenge to integrate new pedagogies. I would recommend this book for the serious reader of educational philosophies.

It is a pity that there are two programming languages needed for cellphones. The book has examples drawn from Java and Symbian. The Java code is simpler than Java programs written for larger environments. The widget set is very limited. The Symbian examples are likewise easy to follow. What it does mean is that any commercial examples you develop have to be manually coded into both languages, if you are after the largest possible market.
