I love this book! It was recommended to me by a professor and I now find myself recommending it to everyone I know that works with the dually-diagnosed or just Mental Health, or just the AODA population. The chapters offer background information as well as the different theories that are and were used with this population and why the intergraded treatment is the best and most successful treatment modality. The appendix is the best part, it offers hand-outs (which are easy to understand and are loved by clients and family members) on various mental health and addiction issues and treatment plans. I have about 10 other books on dual diagnosis and feel that this book is the only one that I can apply to my practice!

Dr. Mart has written a brief, but very good, overview of the process of conducting a forensic assessment for child custody. He covers virtually all of the relevant issues, enabling the reader to have an excellent conception of the issues involved and the means of addressing those issues. This book is an excellent introduction to child custody evaluations for a mental health professional contemplating doing such evaluations.

With numerous scholarly references but fewer than 100 pages, Dr. Mart outlines the movement toward more focused custody assessments, and provides a step-by-step evidence-based guide for how to conduct them. This is possibly the best little book on child custody assessment that currently exists.Issue Focused Forensic Child Custody Assessment (Practitioner's Resource Series)

This book is terrific! I have primary lymphedema and have lived with this for 28 years. I would love to put this book into the hands of the many doc's that shook their head and told me that lymphedema is something I would just have to "Learn to live with". I spent many hours and years researching this condition and want to express my sincere thanks to ACOLS and the many other professionals that help people with lymphedma. This text book is easy to read and written in terms that are easy to understand. I give it 5 stars.

A must-have compendium of classical formulas.
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 1999-02-05
Despite the rough biding and slightly quirky format, this book is beautifully endowed with the most important classical formulae used in clinical practice. A solid discussion of representative formulae from each therapeutic category including very important formula modifications. Also provided with each formula are western disease indications according to what has been supported by modern research. This book excellently illustrates basic introductory information on tongue and pulse diagnosis, the 6 stages and (zang) organ pathologies. In all, it's a scholarly work worthy of "must-have" status.

The Next Generation of EVM

Excellent book. PBEV is definitely an evolution of Earned Value Management. It is the first Book I have found that integrates Project Quality, Cost, and Schedule control all in one method. Solomon and Young were very successful in describing the weaknesses of EVM and pointing out the best solutions on the PBEV.

OBS: It is an advanced book for EVM experienced people. I wouldn't suggest you to try to understand PBEV without any knowledge on EVM.

Whatever is measured is improved.

Review Date: 2006-12-10
Paul Solomon and Ralph Young have hit the "Best Practices" ball out of the park with Performance Based Earned Value (PBEV). PBEV integrates the best of standards based Project Management, Earned Value Management, and Requirements Management standards into a single well illustrated end-to-end guide for product development teams to follow.

Everyone knows that poor requirements are the single largest source of product rework and project failure. There are plenty of books on requirements analysis, definition, and management, but the problem persists. This is because most books do not weave the requirements process into other project management activities and use a meaningful technique to measure progress toward success.

PBEV fills the gap and shows you step-by-step how a high-maturity development organization starts with requirements, creates Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs), and uses the TPMs to monitor and control product development activities right to project completion. Anyone who believes the old adage: "whatever is measured is improved," will find this book to be the key to truly integrating processes and improving development performance.

If you look at the information notated in the table of contents alone, you can see why I say this. The breadth of the financial planning topics covered is simply fantastic.

If you are already in the field or are working towards attaining your CFP, there is alot of information to try to retain to be an efficient advisor to your clients. This book will assist you in your endeavor to retain this knowledge and give you one place to find same.

I have had fellow CFP students that are already in related professions comment to me they have used this book on a few occassions with in weeks of getting it. I believe actual use is the best recommendation a book like this can get. This is why I am getting another copy of this book to give as a present, to a friend who is an agent for a major Illinois insurance company.

I have also had the good fortune to meet the lead author, Sid Mittra, in person and was impressed with his true personal passion and interest in assembling experts in areas to supplement his own knowledge to bring us the best book on Practicing Financial Planning he could.

Keeps getting better!

If you are looking for a complete and easy to use "bible" for the financial planner or are a student of financial planning this book is probably my favorite. It is COMPLETE. I used this book years ago as an instructor and found that I kept it as a reference to use in my practice.
I recently received the latest edition as a gift to replace my shopworn copy and find to it to be up to date, easy to use and still the first book I grab when I need to reference something that I have forgotten over the years or simply don't know.
I appreciate the depth of this book and recommend it to my fellow planners as the best book to own for good, quick answers or to students who really want to know the subject matter in a complete way.
Before you order keep in mind this isn't a quick read, it's a BIG book and full of information.

This book is certainly one of the best books about REBT for therapists. Walen et al. do a great job to explain the basic concepts of REBT and how to get them across to clients.
They deal with difficult situations and how to solve them. Their systematic step-by-step approach of doing REBT consists of:
- Getting at the A's
- Getting at the C's
- Getting at the B's (a crucial point in therapy)
- Disputation: general and specific strategies
- Homework assignments
- The course of therapy

Numerous case examples illustrate the authors' points.
This book is a great reference book!

Possibly THE best overview of REBT for therapists.

While Ellis is the originator of REBT, he may or may not be the best author on the subject. Walen, Dryden and DiGiusseppe provide the underlying philosophy, the nuts-and-bolts, a boatload of techniques, and special applications of the therapy. I use REBT in practice, and this is the text to which I refer most often. If you are a therapist considering learning more about REBT and how to use it in practice, this is the book for you.

It is not a book to learn Ifa. You have to be a awo or babalawo to use it. You will find a lot of pray to be use in rituals, all in yoruba and with english translation. It is not easy because most of texts are very long, but as the title says it is for practitioners. Well if you know of you want go in.

Adupe Chief FAMA (Aina Adewale-Somadhi) She has been a becon of light for both Babalawo's and Iyanifa's with her many works. This one being just as it says: "FOR THE PROFFESSIONAL".
It's purpose is to offer enough information to those Awo's who may not have access to a local teacher of Ifa. At least you can work with confidence until you can hook up with the correct Oluwo-Ifa. Please be respectful of the Warnings! when it says it requires a person with the proper Ase. It MEANS an initiatated Priest who has gone through Itefa not an orisa priest or non initiate. Lots and lots of excellent material. May Iya continue her great contributions. Ogbo ato. Ifa agbe e.
