A Great History Book

It must be said that this is the first book which treats the terrorist and subversive process in Latin America. Its main objective is to serve as an introduction to the two following volumes. Because of that it explains how from the USSR and Cuba terrorist were sent to make war into different Latin American countries.
The author has made an incredible research of information and every statement made by him is seriously backed by plenty of documents. This book is meant to show young and future generations how the real facts took place.
It covers from the firsts incursions of John Cook and other terrorists as Ernesto "Che" Guevara in Cuba and other Latin American Countries till Campora's government in Argentina. Throughout all those years the terrorist started to make ideological propaganda (financed first from the USSR and Cuba and later from kidnappings) and murder politicians and militaries as well as common people.
This book shows that the terrorists were backed by the USSR and Cuba and that the only thing that the argentine militaries did was to answer the aggression doing what they had swore: Defend their Country.

Ramona reminded me of myself when I was a little girl. She does things that most kids only think of doing because they are afraid to get into trouble. I love the reality aspect that Beverly Cleary brings to the story. Not only does Ramona LA Chinche take me back in time, it allows future generations of kids to see that they aren't the only ones to think up some of the crazy stunts that Ramona pulls off. This story is a hilarious page turner from the very beginning! I'd recommend it to any school teacher and, of course, all students. What a great read!

The Room With Closets by Latin American philosophy teacher A. Pablo Iannone is an anthology of thirteen short stories connected by common threads. With tones ranging from comedy to dark humor to the shadow of political oppression, the stories range from a woman confronting reminders of death on the first morning of her honeymoon, to a Spanish shepherd who abandons his old identity to sail for the New World, to three Argentines who brave a hellish ordeal to obtain a passport from their fascist government. An unforgettable portrait of human struggle, survival, and wry insight.

Bioy Casares moves effortlessly from reality to fantasy. This collection of short stories are often grotesque, sometimes surreal, but always entertaining. Particularly read "Margarita" and "The Travel Diary"
