This book is a practical one and what is good about this book is that the book contains a lot of concret methods of sales and marketing in hospitality products. A would-be hospitality sales manager and a student in this field should have this hands-on book with him all the time. When your boss runs out of marketing ideas, you can give one or two fresh ideas out of this book.

Sales. Thats is what this book is about and how to go about getting them. In Spades. READ AND REREAD. This book will get you new customers because it helps focus your efforts on where they will do the most good.

Over 27 chapters gives you specific help on areas that apply to selling. For example, chapter 18, Being a Sales Consultant, he defines sales consulting as going beyond 'pitch' selling and 'consultive selling' tactics. Example being that the rep will assist the customer in his/her area of expertise even if no direct business results. A great idea.

In each chapter, you are asked to rate the ideas as to how that chapters idea can affect you. The book is organized in such a way that you don't have to read it cover to cover. Just the areas that appeal to you.

The chapters have the greatest value in providing specific techniques to implement those ideas you rank highly. For example, chapter 24 New Business Marketing, has as its implementations section 7 steps to New Business Development. Areas like Opportunity Identification (1) and Organizational Marketing (3) and tips within those to help guide you.

All in all, a great business book on selling, marketing and making your sales grow.

Highly Recommended.

After the rapid growth of " Google " - Yahoo and MSN need to find the ways to protect their market shares. Therefore, we can gain the beneficiaries from them during the search fights in June 2004. No doubts, Search Engines Marketing is the amazing way to promote your brand and/or products when you facing the globalization and e-business in the coming decade.

Of course, you need to learn and study more search engines (PPC, P4P Programs) in both markets of USA or UK.

Actually, US$25.00 is the small amount to start your programs in the trial status. e.g. Findwhat, Goclick, Looksmart, Lycos, Mirago,...etc. If you want to make easy way, suggest to try on Overture site match!

2006 July, Now the search engines market is changed.

There have only Google (42%), Yahoo (28%), MSN (13%), AOL (7%) and Ask (5%) Search Networks in the upper market. But there still have the small companies are working: MIVA and Kanoodle.
Of course, market shares are higher, but quality visitors are lower. Quality Clicks are very importance for every advertiser, so Yahoo and Google must find the ways to catch the quality visitors in every seconds and hours.

Re: Local searches for Yahoo / Google - it still have the good future and development in Hong Kong. Actually, there have many advertisers in Hong Kong or from Mainland China.

Baidu, Alibaba, Sina and Sohu are mainly concerns in Local China only. No doubts, there have many B2B sites or portals for helping the SME Business on promotion in the very different ways on marketing. e.g. exhibitions or online helps.

As you see that PCCW and NWT - are quiet aggressive on their business promotions on Yahoo HK and MSN HK.

I have been in sales for 8 years and I have been forced to read every "How to Sale and Succeed" book ever written until this one caught my eye. My manager didn't even know about this gem! The first chapter made me think that the author had studied my office since he had us detailed perfectly. I have passed it around office and I'm not alone in my views.

If you write, professionally speak, or are in any business requiring you to market yourself or your products - or both - this book is for you. This book should be in the library of every advertising and marketing professional today. Written by one of the true pioneers of one-to-one marketing, it explains the techniques of building, using and profiting from a database. No one knows the subject better than Baier.
