This is an excellent guide for those readers who want to adopt powerful study habits & who also want to pass their exams with flying colours.

I am very impressed by the author's opening approach. At the onset, he starts off with a unique preamble as outlined in Chapter 1: How to Use This Book. He stresses the importance of asking questions as an initial guiding principle in reading his book (or any other books &/or reading materials), as follows:

- Formulating questions about the topic as you read;
- Formulating questions about what you are doing & how you are proceeding with your reading;

He even goes beyond by showing you how to formulate questions from the headings/sub-headings/first or last sentences of paragraphs in printed or written reading materials, using the well-know Rudyard Kipling method.

In the same opening chapter, he even demonstrates, with two working examples, the process of asking questions as a technique for analyzing assignment question. This is a very powerful technique to acquire for dissecting exam questions. (This technique is part of a larger process known by learning experts as the Question Dissection Protocol.)

Other useful techniques are outlined by the author in the other chapters:

- Chapter 2: Tackling coursework deadlines;
- Chapter 3: Organising your revision;
- Chapter 4: Improving your memory;
- Chapter 5: Taking exams;
- Chapter 6: Coping with anxiety;
- Chapter 7: Using others as supporting aids;

Each chapter is prefaced with a problem checklist, which is a quick way for the reader to access specific information (pertaining to the appropriate technique to use) immediately from the respective chapter. This makes the book a handy reference.

As you can see, a full-scale chapter on lesson revision is incorporated in this book. This chapter is beautifully crafted, covering the entire spectrum of the lesson revision process. This is definitely a rare occurrence for a study skill book, since I often notice that most authors of such kind of book tend to skip (or maybe they themselves are not aware of) this important aspect of the effective study process.

Chapter 5 (Taking exams) & Chapter 6 (Coping with anxiety) are very well-researched & carefully thought of expositions by the author, backed with a vast array of techniques, tools & hints, although a few of which in Chapter 6 seem to be somewhat esoteric.

Nevertheless, the techniques outlined by the author in both chapters are wide-ranging & all-encompassing. I have never seen a DIY Guide to Muscular Relaxation so finely detailed & systematically illustrated in a study skill book.

The last chapter provides many useful guidelines for getting help from supporting aids in your academic pursuits.

There is also a very rich bibliography & further reading list at the end of the book.

Attention Readers: If you are a student, & you want to ace your exams with flying colours, grab hold of this book! The book is targeted as secondary students but I feel that the techniques can also be applied for adults preparing for further academic work.

great source of ideas from one of the great scientists of our - or any other - time. one of its virtues - i suppose - is that it does allow the knowledgable reader to see that even the best (like Einstein on politics or Newton on alchemy) can be also astonishingly naive, on rare occasions. specifcally, it does not detract from the value of this volume in the least that he refers to the Rorschach as if it were a coherent, specific and identifiable assessment technique - in the pre-Exner, pre-Comprehensive System days - and dismisses it. in that period, there were at least 5 diverse schools of thought (Rappaport/Schaffer, Beck, Hertz, Piotrowski, Klopfer) about the technique and it was rare to find practitioners who employed any of them systematically. the psychologist interested in the power of logical, clear, yet sophisticated methodological analysis absolutely must have this book.

PC Interfacing And Data Acquisition offers a complete and practical guide to programming and interfacing techniques involved in data collection, as well as subsequent measurement and control systems. Kevin James adheres to an industry perspective as he provides electronic engineers and techniques involved in measurement and instruments, DA&C programmers, as computer students with a fundamental and working knowledge of the industrial applications of computer interfacing. There is a prerequisite of high-level programming language familiarity, but analytical mathematics is minimal resulting in a highly recommended instructional reference for engineers who are not programming specialists.

This book is very well comprised of articles dealing with personality and intelligence by many researchers and psychologists. It's very good reading for the analytical types who want to see for themselves if there is a correlation between the two. Each author make their own conclusion about this topic which enables you to judge for yourself the significance of the studies conducted.

This is a thorough and scholarly text that, in my opinion, has set the standard for both graduate and undergraduate texts in personality and psychological assessment. It was my textbook at UCSC in the 1980's and I still keep it on my bookshelf as a reference and recommend it to students. The book is written for an audience of superior intellect, but in a manner that is straightforward and appealing to the serious student of psychology. All the basic information is covered here!

A masterpiece

I find this book by Bernard Marr a masterpiece for any one interested in the field of intellectual capital. Marr systematically and thoroughly walks the reader through the broad spectrum of constructs that form part of this multi-disciplinary research field (economics, strategy, accounting, human resources, information technology, etc.). The target audience of this book is anybody interested in the field of intellectual capital, from readers relatively novel in the field, to researchers. Marr has done a terrific job in putting together this book with contributions from top experts in intellectual capital, bridging the gap between the academic and the practitioner's worlds. I enjoyed the book in its entirety, but I found the last chapter particularly enlightening, in that Marr offers an interdisciplinary overview of the evolution of intellectual capital. The chapter is the first published document I have come across that attempts to create a holistic understanding of the subject, bringing together the different perspectives. I am hopeful that this book will further enhance awareness across many related disciplines, and therefore open doors for future research cross-fertilization and collaboration. As an executive, I also highly recommend this book to anyone interested in furthering his or her thinking in a field that is critical to every business.
