This guidebook can used as either a coffee table gift book with its multitudes of beautiful colored photographs or a guide to suggested hikes in Oregon's Wilderness areas. The author, for years a resident of Oregon, gives you one hundred of her favorite hikes to some of the Oregon's wild areas. The pictures in the book, like the two-page layout that shows a hiker on the Cooper Spur Trail in the Mt. Hood Wilderness viewing Mount Adams and Mount Rainier, or the close-up head shot of a common garter snake eating a bullfrog, are stunning. All photographs in the book were taken by the author, a renowned scenic and wildlife photographer. She describes Oregon's 36 wilderness and provides photographs that will entice you to visit them. The author has hiked every trail described in the book and provides the reader with information of the trails length, difficulty, highlights, elevation gain, maps required, best season, if permits are required, management contacts, highway directions, and trail information to the tenth of a mile. The author, who has written several Oregon hiking guides, knows what she is talking about, so if she says these are her favorite hikes you just to believe that they are going to be special. Don't take her word or mine, you will have to see a copy for yourself to appreciate its value.

Barbara Mahoney has captured the essence of time and person. Most people will find Ralph Barnes an unfamiliar name in the context of pre-war America, but Dr. Mahoney, right from the beginning provides the reader with a reason to continue reading, melding the importance of the period with the accomplishments of the man: "He lived and reported in an era unsurpassed for its complexity and peril. His story is its story."
Three stories are harmoniously integrated into a compelling history of the time: the historical events of the period, the craft of reporting on those events, and the personal trials of having a family while constantly on the move. Above and beyond is Dr. Mahoney's contention that Ralph Barnes' interpretation and extrapolation of those events, was, for the most part, on target, unlike many of his contemporary colleagues. "Dispatches and Dictators" provides a unique look at a period of time that Ralph Barnes lived through and reported on, and appeals to both the professional and amateur historian. This is definitely a must read for anyone interested in the run-up to the signature event of the 20th century.

I found this book to be comprehensive and thoroughly detailed.
It has information for multiple scenarios and when it is right to seek out side help.
I saved vast amounts of legal costs when this book told me exactly what I needed to do.

In this honest and entertaining book, Dr. Edward Rosenbaum lets doctors know what it is really like to be a patient.
Dr. Rosenbaum constructs a remarkable narrative of his successful, yet painful battle with cancer and the medical system.
Dr. Rosenbaum's succint, humorous and imaginative style remarkablly illustrates his personal, familial and professional relationships during his ordeal.
Like most great works, the book is far better than the movie. THE DOCTOR is an essential-read for anyone in the health care profession.

This excellent book reviews the history of the Oregon Caves, the Oregon Caves National Monument, and the historic buildings at the monument, such as The Chateau and Chalet. The author, Steve Mark, is the National Park Service historian for the Oregon Caves. Domain of the Cavemen is the official Historic Resource Study of Oregon Caves National Monument. As such it is a detailed but very readable document and includes extensive research notes to back up the information presented. This book features lots of historic photos and copies of historic ads for the Caves. Published by the U.S. National Park Service, 2006.

I grew up in Oregon and spent most of my summers on the Oregon Coast. I live in Sourth Carolina now, and when I look at this book, it makes me cry ---every time. I am not an experienced travelor, but I know what beauty is. The Oregon Coast defines beauty for me. This book presents pictures that are breathtakingly beautiful. I remember as a teenager, walking with my girlfriends, lost in the Coastal mist, singing our hearts out. I was too young to appreciate the glorious visions that are there in my beautiful Oregon, just so abundantly available. When I go to the Oregon Coast, now, I just fall apart with emotion. Now more than ever, because my father is buried there, and he loved it SO much. When you look at the pictures of this book, remember my father, in his grave site on the cliffs, overlooking the beautiful sea. What a glorious final resting place. I dedicate this review to you, Dad. Thanks for showing me all the beauties of Oregon and our beautiful Pacific Coast. Barra (Remember our Oregon Coast song? I do!)
