Rudolf want to create a rationale heat engine, a combustion under pressure engine. The engine would run on a variety of fuels because different countries would have different fuel resources. Diesel engines were the improvement over steam engines. Diesel engines were used to power electric in third world countries, embedded in marine boats and submarines, and pumped water. Diesel dream of creating a diesel powered locomotive but never lived to see that dream. If Diesel were alive today, he would want smaller and more powerful engines. Electricity evaded Diesel and he found himself outside that realm. However, today Diesel would have like the idea of a magnet motor, a surge fly wheel for electrical storage for starting and stopping, and efficient electrical motors. Edison told Diesel that the invention had to be reliable and used by the customer, a practical device. Nanotechnology engines that harness the power of the atom as a part of a unified quantum theory of everything will create smaller engines with incredible electrical output.
Diesel would be compelled to contemplate the future of hydrocarbon engines and reflect on the create of powerful electric engines.

Diesel had to learn how to work with metal before building is vertical engine. The first engine exploded without anyone being fatal injuried. Eventually, debt exceeding $2 million created a financial crisis for Diesel. In a mysterous turn of event, Diesel dies, an improbable suicide, and an envelope with $5k for his wife.

Theresa Carter put aside her urge to write creatively until her kids were raised and she had a little time on her hands. This book is a collection of fun and touching stories, all of which really happened. My favorite is "When Aunt Pawtie Buried Grampa." Her stories are filled with her engaging enjoyment of life and that tiny bit of mischievious giggle that embodied her. She's gone now and I miss her.

I sure would like to use some of her stories in PRAIRIE LORE, a semi-annual publication by the Southwestern Oklahoma Historical Society. If any of her daughters would like to contact me...this is Ardeth. PrairieLore@aol.com

A disclaimer to start with: I am a member of the Lea family, descended from Mrs. Houston's brother, Henry Clinton Lea, so I had a particular interest in this book about my great-great-great aunt (whew!). This was one of the great romantic stores of the century, starting when a 17-year-old Margaret Lea first sighted Houston in New Orleans, where she watched him from among a crowd. She married him when he was 48 and she was barely 21, in the face of opposition from her family. I was delighted with the degree of historical accuracy I found in the book, as well as finding it an enjoyable "read". Mr. Seale includes the sort of family anecdotes that make biography come alive as well as throwing a new light on the personality of Sam Houston. The mythical hero of San Jacinto was also a husband and father, and his life with Margaret had profound effects on his public life. To read about Margaret, her mother and siblings gives a fascinating window on the life of a Southern family during the era of Westward expansion. Seale also clears up some fun but apocryphal tales about the romance. Too bad, really, but I guess the fanciful among us can go on believing my great-g-g-grandmother actually said "My daughter goes forth in the world to marry no man." if we want to

SAVAGE PERILS: RADICAL FRONTIERS AND NUCLEAR APOCALYPSE IN AMERICAN CULTURE examines the history of American culture from the early industrial age to the Cold War, considering how this history and culture influenced representations of nuclear weaponry in American society and psyche. From anthropological race theory and Asian immigration to Darwinian evidence of struggle between 'civilized' and 'savage' forces, SAVAGE PERILS juxtaposes both military and social history in an analysis perfect for college-level social science holdings.

An Expose of the Perversion of the Constitution

Review Date: 2003-12-03
Having taken some of Dr. Gangi's classes during college, I became familiar of course with this book and how true its themes are when I went through Law School.

The beginning chapters of the book discuss the original Constitutional Design of the writers/founders, and through documents of the time, particularly the Federalist Papers, reveal the original understanding of just how the American People would govern themselves, and just how the three federal branches would work. Now I am NOT a fan of the American Constitution for other reasons, but the Constitution was voted to be the law of the land on certain understandings of how power was to be shared, etc. i.e. power was granted to the federal government on certain conditions so to speak.

This follows into the twisitng of the original design by an activist judiciary over the last century. Where there used to be very tough standards as to what exactly a 'case or controversy' was that was capable of being resolved in Court, now the Courts, following their own decisions, have invented so many rights and entitlements, and laws thereon, that the citizens of the States can not control their own destiny through the legislature. As Federal Judges are appointed, this unelected 'legislature' is now more powerful than the elected legislature. This is in direct opposition to the original design of the laws of this country and represents a 'stabbing in the back' if you will of the 'We The People' who have been increasingly usurped of our ability to pass legislation through our elected officials.

Now the book exlores many areas of this conflict, but the constant theme comes forth, that the activit judiciary has stripped the citizens of the USA of much power that was formely in their hands. Both against true democary, and against the very ratification committees whose delegates ratified the Constituion.

This is a reference work and is EXHAUSTIVELY footnoted and contains many links to Law Review Articles and Primary Source Documentation from the Constitutional Period and the Civil War Period. Check it out.

Former Secret Service agent Alex Stone was the best of the best, so impersonating missing foreign dignitary Thomas Barde seemed easy. Convincing the world that rough-and-rowdy Melusine Brand was actually Katerina, Thomas's ultrafeminine bride and the president of Tantilla's beloved daughter, was another story. And while Alex was no stranger to difficult assignments, hiding his history with Melusine bordered on impossible.

Physically, Melusine could have been Katerina's twin, but the resemblance ended there -- something Alex was grateful for when their simple plan turned dangerous. As they tangled with terrorists in the Texas desert, Alex wondered not only whether a future without Melusine was worth living, but would they survive to see any future at all?
