North Carolina Books

Through prose, pictures and poems, this book gives one the "feel" of truely being a North Carolinian. Even if you have never visited the state, you can laugh, cry and dream as Charles Kuralt paints picture words of his home. A lovely relaxing read.

I have not seen a book like this done about the lighthouses of North Carolina - or any lighthouse book for that matter. It is easy to read as well as a pleasure to look at with all the spectacular photography. This book is not a fluff piece. The information contained in it is interesting and goes beyond the ordinary. It links the history of the lighthouses to the very origins of The Unites States of America. (and the book looks real good on my coffee table, too).

This was a very informative book. I gave this to my friend for his birthday. We sat down with our other friend and planned out places to go. It was very informative about the places and even listed the town I live in.
I recommend it to anyone who likes day trips or learning about different places.

This photographic portfolio of North Carolina emphasizes the natural beauty of the state, with breathtaking images of everything from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the sandy Atlantic beaches. Some images of the cities are also included. The images were carefully selected from over twenty different photographers. Most of the images were shot on large format film (4 x 6) resulting in a high level of resolution in the printed reproductions. This is one of the best books of its kind - and I have purchased quite a few.

I used to own a copy of this, but it got lost along the way. The only poem from it that I remember by name is "Nellie Meyers," which stays with me years later, though I don't know why. I think because it and other parts of the book are nearly completely unguarded, in an innocent way. Perhaps it is on the other end of the spectrum from Glare.

We re using the yellow book in class and it is not as good or helpful as this book. I use this book along with the required text and this is far better. Our teacher agrees although he prefers the other book because in answer section it gives you the page number of the info for the question you miss.

I did like this book and I think it has very important information. This being said, I was upset to find that this book only lists last names that begin with 'A' through 'H'. Where are the names 'J' through 'Z'? Unfortunately all of my family names fall into this category!

I love this book. I know how hard and time consuming it must have been to put the book together. I live in North Carolina and it was great to see pictures of what it looked like years ago next to pictures of what it looks like now.

Finally there is someone out there who feels for the average person. For too many years we drivers have been at the mercy of overpaid attorneys charging ridiculous fees to settle traffic tickets. I for one should know. While playing golf in North Carolina, I purchased this book. Since that time I have saved a lot in attorney fees and had my restriction lifted in N.C. I thank Leonard for putting his time and effort into a product thats worth more than its weight in gold. I highly recommend this book.
