Touchdown!! What an 11 yard touchdown to wide receiver Dwight Clark! The crowd goes wild for the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have beaten the cowboys by an amazing catch by Clark. This book, Joe Montana, was written by Jack Kavangh and is a biography about this famous football player. It's a good book for people who like sports. I recommend it especially for football fans.
When Joe Montana was in college he was a star. He was measured as a winning quarter back. He never lost a Super Bowl and never used only one player in a game. Joe Montana was a team player; he got everybody in the game and encouraged others to do well. I was inspired by his work and his talent. He led the 49ers to four Super Bowls and was the most valuable player of Super Bowl XVI and XXIV. After these wins, I wanted to know if he had bad times in his career.
Joe went to Ringgold high school and played three different sports. He played basketball, baseball, and football. He was a star in all three sports. I was amazed at this. This success shows that you can do what you want to do. That made Joe Montana an athlete and in shape to play any sport. His parents had pushed him in to sports to get a scholarship. Soon he did and went to Notre Dame University with a full scholarship in athletics.
In Notre Dame he was a star in football. As a freshman he made the varsity team, making him the first freshman ever to make varsity at Notre Dame. I was most inspired by this success. Playing as quarterback, Joe Montana felt he had to win every game. He even won the 1979 Cotton Bowl. After college, was the NFL for Joe Montana? He was drafted in the 3rd round to the 49ers. He had sickness problems through out seasons and games. Joe even missed one full season because he had a bad illness. But Joe Montana persevered and brought the 49ers to four Super Bowls wins. Joe Montana was a star in high school, college, and in the NFL. I think Joe Montana is a role model to kids who have big dreams like he had.
Jack Kavangh writes a good biography about Joe Montana. This book expresses how Joe Montana is and the author includes great details about his life. Joe Montana is a great book and I also recommend it to people who are looking for a role model. If I was amazed, you will be to.

Sports Great,
Joe Montana

The Novel, Sports Great Joe Montana, by Jack Kavanah, is a 64-page book about a professional quarterback, who plays football for the San Francisco 49ers. Joe went to college at the University of Notre Dame. He there played football for the Fightin' Irish.
At the end of the freezing cold Cotton Bowl, in Houston Texas, Joe finished his final football game for the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish in his senior year in 1979.
When Joe's college career came to an end, he was literally sick of the cold weather, so he thought about moving to Southern California, for it's warmth. A year later, Joe was so fed up with the cold he actually did move all the way from South Ben, Indiana, to San Francisco, California.
Joe knew that when he moved to California, he was supposed to be taking a break from sports, but in a matter of days, Joe figured he just couldn't get enough football! That's where the undoubtedle dream of making the team for being drafted for the 49ers began.
When the brand new football season began, Joe went out for the professional game with the San Francisco 49ers.
Joe's NFL season began as a rookie, as every on else's did. The famous Notre Dame quarterback, college boy Joe Montana, also known as the "Comeback Kid," was now the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, in his first season.
In July of 1980, Joe had his first pro game against the Buffalo Bills, in Buffalo, New York. That game the 49ers trampled over the Bills, and just burnt them out!
In the year 1990, it was time for Joe's last game to come... in the Super Bowl! Against the Jets, the 49ers came to their victory, and beat the Jets. There, Joe's season, and first and final "fare well" speech approached everyone watching the spectacular game.
Joe Montana, of the San Francisco 49ers, and Notre Dame Fightin' Irish led them to some of their best seasons and games ever. He retired March of 1991.

My Great-grandfather's book

This book was originally written by my Great-grandfather, Robert Vaughn, who came to this country from Wales. He wrote the book for his daughter, Arvonia Elizabeth Vaughn Sprague. The original book is extremely interesting, as it gives a very graphic view of what life was like in Montana during the latter part of the 1800s. I am intentionally spelling Vaughn this way because it was altered when he was getting a title for some land that he purchased. In Robert Vaughn's original book, the spelling of his name is the same throughout the book. I have not read Walter's reprint of Robert Vaughn's book, but the incorrect spelling of Vaughn's name and the fact that none of the descendents of Robert Vaughn were ever consulted about this book raises concerns about the accuracy of this book. My rating reflects the quality of the original book.

I have read this book several times now, and each time it's better than I remember it from before. It is every bit a worthy successor to "Bladerunner" - intensely bittersweet, evocative, masterfully written, a work of art in words. The plot may SEEM familiar but it's full of twists, turns and revelations that there's no comparing it closely to any other story I know of. The characters are BRILLIANTLY done - by the time you're finished reading it, you'll know how they think and what drives them probably better than you know your co-workers. Their motivations, actions, thoughts, histories, hopes and regrets are perfectly believable, and when they hurt or rejoice, you can't help but feel the same right along with them. Buy this book, it is the ULTIMATE "cyberpunk" book and better than anything even William Gibson or Bruce Sterling could write (and I'm fans of both those authors as well.)

Last summer while using this book as our guide, we trailered from MN 3 babies (horses), two dogs, and one teenager. We had the vacation of a lifetime. We rode for two weeks, 6-8 different trails at 5 different locations. Very accurate descriptions for trail difficulty, trailheads and what you will see.

We even met a couple that had contributed a couple rides to help create the book - they autographed our copy 8-)).

We are returning this year with Ray, our mule, to pack in to the Chinese Wall. That is the only thing they don't tell you in this book. You ride to the very edge and have to turn around a go back to camp. Quite the tease for folks who want to get away from everything.

Congratulations Ms. Barnett & MT Horsemen for working together and putting such a great resource in our hands. Now if we could only get a similar book for CO, ID, UT . . .

A great book! Humorous, adventurous, easy to read and hard to put down. A historical look at what a mid 20th century ranch veterinarian went through to make ends meet. It should be required reading for large animal practicioners, students or anyone who has an interest in ranch vetting.

It made her own heart torn. Whitehorn's sexiest lawman could possible cost Dana her freedom if he found out her secret. He had her heart locked up already. Could she trust him enough without risking her future for the passion she felt in his embrase.

THIS WAS A VERY ENTERTAINING BOOK. I LIKED THE CHARACTERS JESSE, HALEY. THE VILLIAN WAS VERY BAD. Haley was a little naive but she came out on top. I would definitely recommend this for reading.

Whitehorn, Montana, 1879

Beautiful and strong-willed Haley Winthrop has a dream of marriage, family and to finally have the peace of mind of belonging somewhere. Abandoned at birth, Haley grew up in a Chicago orphanage and was no stranger to hard work and loneliness, so when she answered an ad to be a mail-order bride in remote Montana, she knew her dream was within her grasp. From just one brief letter, the intended groom, Lucas Stoner, sent for her. Surely, he's everything wonderful and perfectly agreeable and their life together will be long and filled with happiness!

Nearing the end of her tiring journey through the beautiful Montana wilderness, the stage was held up by a lone bandit, but this bandit did not want money or jewels, he wanted Haley. Handsome rancher, Jesse Kincaid, vowed to bring down the evil and greedy Lucas Stoner, the man who had his father killed and what better way to begin than by kidnapping his bride-to-be. Intimidation, deception and murder is not beyond Lucas's determination to get what he wants and the fact that Haley is an orphan is just the tactic he needs towards reaching his malicious goals; never mind caring about her.

While being a hostage, Haley realized her experience of being a captive was nothing like she expected. Jesse's notion of being a kidnapper was nothing like he anticipated. She surprisingly takes pleasure in being his prisoner and he began to enjoy being her kidnapper.

Will their long quest that's filled with danger, intrigue and deception eventually bring them together to find eventual peace and happiness where dreams come true?

This is an easy-to-read and wonderful addition to the Montana Mavericks series; guaranteed not to disappoint!

I just saw this book today in a gift shop in Montana. I bought his other book "Montana Wildlife Portfolio" and will also buy his "Wings" book. If you like wildlife, Montana, the outdoors, and great photography, I highly recommend this book and also his Wildlife book. My 12 year old grandson was also impressed, so I can recommend these books to young or old. It is very high quality re-production by Farcountry Press. A bargin at the listed price.

I have acted as a Tour Guide in Yellowstone Park for the last ten years, both summer and winter. I now own my own Custom tour business based out of Jackson, Wyoming, and do tours of Grand Teton and Yellowstone Parks. Lee Whitlesey's book "Yellowstone Place Names" is probably the single best reference source for information on place names and their origins that can be found. Aubrey Hayne's book, by the same title, is much more difficult to use, in that it is not alphabetized, and requires considerable searching to find the information desired. I would highly recommend Whitlesey's book to anyone interested in Yellowstone Nat'l Park, and the history of place names therein.

A great Yellowstone reference guide!

Ever wondered how that mountain got its name? Ever wondered why a small geyser has such a magnificent name? Lee has done excellent work here in compiling stories behind many of the features you encounter when in Yellowstone National Park. It is great fun to lear more about the things you have always taken for granted in Yellowstone (Note: This is a shorter version of Wonderland Nomenclature - a guide which contains stories behind almost every Yellowstone name -....)

Exciting ideas!

Review Date: 2002-06-20
I enjoyed this book for its readability and refreshing ideas. Mr. Brown tackles the mundane and unexciting subject of tax reform with humor and well-researched concepts. Each chapter begins with a quip from a noted historic figure; for example, Albert Einstein, or Mark Twain, and gives a thoughtful refresher course on the peculiarities and perplexing myths of the American income tax system. His facts and figures look accurate enough, though difficult to prove, but certainly will give the reader food for thought, and a new perspective on dealing with the future of "taxation without representation". A great afternoon read!
