An oldie but goodie!

Hahn has another winner with this gentle and wise novel of a city girl who finds freedom and friendship during a summer visit to her aunt and uncle's farm. Dramatic tension comes from Anna's encounters with Theodore, an orphan boy who has been taken in by the farm family. Theodore and Anna begin as jealous rivals, but are as close as brother and sister by the book's end. Readers will cheer for Anna as she leaves her stuffy, urban life behind (if only for a while) and becomes a scrappy and happy mud-caked farm girl. I was genuinely sorry to see the book end, and hope Ms. Hahn has more books about Anna in the works.

If you are researching the Handy family genealogy, then this is the essential primer. Written in the mid-1850s, it contains priceless information about the Handy family that originated in the Eastern Shore area of Maryland. This is the book that every Handy researcher should have in their research library.

This book was a gift to my husband. He is from Annapolis, but we have moved to Chicago. It is a great book to have displayed in our home to show people where he grew up.

To my opinion this is a very good review of clinical chemistry course. Every section has questions at the beginning and at the end, helping to get concentrated on the most important topics. Good language, thoughtful tables and figures helping to summarize and memorize most essential material. All test procedures described briefly, but good enough to understand the principles and methodology of every single laboratory test. Not too much "watery" text saving time for the study. I really enjoed this review and hope it will help me to pass my certification exam.

If you're intersted in the development of East Coast architecture, this is an invaluable tool, particularly if you're familiar with the City of the Chesapeake Bay.

I find this book really easy reading and it makes you feel as if you were there along side them. It made interesting reading to see and feel what they went throught in breaking new ground so many years ago.

The guide espouses to "enable [the reader] to identify and properly name the top twenty-five birds using your backyard bird sanctuary". While I'm not clear on the distinction between "identify" and "properly name", it's irrelevant, as this guide won't help you do either.

There is some marginally useful information on attracting birds in here, but this at the national level with little focus on regional differences. Overall, Backyard Birds seems like a quick attempt by a publisher to make a little cash from the growing popularity of feeding birds. One only hopes they fail as miserably as these books do.

Of course I'm slightly partial because the cover photo and two photos inside are mine. But, that aside, the book is a swell gift for the casual backyard birder. For $9.95 you get your bucks worth. It's easy to find the birds, it provides solid information without having to flip back and forth trying to make sense of what you see. Well written and the photos are great!

I have only just read this book. Excellent information provided and well researched material. Hope more of this is being prepared for future volumes.
